I want to set up AP 1552 as outdoor access point so serve clients. This AP is connected to 3750X switch and recieving power over ethernet.Now, by default AP 1552 come with bridge mode and it cannot be changed to local mode. I read on one of the post and made it ROOTAP but still the OPER STATUS is down. This device is already registered to my WLC.
what needs to be done to bring the AP in operational status.[code]
I have an issue with two APs (3502i) which is associated to controller wism2. Total number of APs are connected to this controller is 422 and once I added two new APs (3502i) to this controller I am unable to see these APs coming up. Getting error messages like wrong primary controller nad secondary controller. When I loggedin to the controller through CLI following are the details I am getting for the APs which is not registering to the controller:, Also for comparison I am attaching the statistics for the AP which is working good and is able to register.
Note: I thought the problem with these two APs and will try replacing them but when i connected the other two APs to different switch and different subnet the same errors we are seeing.

On a 4500 switch having a single sup engine, another sup engine was installed to act as redundant one.the redundancy mode was changed to sso, thereafter the secondary sup was prompted to be reset.
After it came back up again, the redundancy status still shows as RPR in operation mode.
When performing an audit from NCS Prime 1.3 on our 5508 controllers (500 lic) we are getting mismatch messages from many of our 3602i AP's that say the following...

These AP's are not configured as Spectrum Intelligence on the controllers, rather as local. It seems that NCS believes that they are supposed to be SI. We have refreshed the config from controller many times but this does not change. The 5508's run v.7.2.111.3 Is there a change I can make on NCS or otherwise to make this mismatch go away? Is this a bug? It is not causing any problems (that we can see) but as most would rather not have these mismatches.
Is there a way to change the timeout for the Client Excluded: MACAddress status? It seems like the exclusion is rather short. I'd like to have the ability to control the exclusion time. Using WLC-5508 7.0.116.0.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am testing a Cisco 1552 and cannot seem to set it to use the 40 MHz channels. In the controller GUI is is set to use 40 MHz channels under DCA for 802.11a but when I go into the CLI and show the config of the AP it shows the channel width to be 20 MHz. If I try to change the channel width through the CLI I get "radio is not disable or ap not set to customize" or something like that. The radio is disabled globally and locally. Is there a way to set the AP or radio to a "customize" mode?
What prompted this was I was testing the throughput on it and can only get a 130 mbps data rate connection to it. The data sheet says it will support 300 mbps with the 40 mhz channel so I was trying to test it atteh higher rate.The HW is a Cisco 4402 with 7.0.230 software on it, 1552E.
I have configured a 1552, that is wired to network, as "Bridge" then "RootAP".
After reboot, I can see a MAP trying to join the network, in the "simple" logs of the controller :
"Mon May 6 17:29:43 2013 Mesh Node '04:da:d2:1f:4d:6f' failed to join controller, MAC address not in MAC filter list."
As I have done for the RAP, I enter this MAC address in the MAC Filtering area under Security tab. But this action doesn't solve the problem, I continue to see this message in the controller logs !
If I open a SSH session on the RAP, I can see this block of debug messages repeat all the time :

When I take a look into detailled debug messages of the controller I can see this :

I don't know why the system talks about dot1x or Radius Authorization, and if this is the source of my problems. On a other hand, I can see in the debug messages that there is a 2 hours lag time between controller (correct time) and RAP (incorrect, I suppose it synchronize with the controller?)
I'm having a small issue using my external CIsco Wireless Card AIR-CB21-AG-E-K9 with a Lightweight Access Point 1552 (Outdoor) using 802.11a Radio.
Description of issue :
I can connect to a wireless network when i set the Wireless Mode to 2.4GHz 54 Mbps (802.11 g), and 2.4 GHz 11 Mbps (802.11 b) on the card but not with 5GHz 54 Mbps (802.11a).
Note that this card is compatible to 802.11 a, b and g.
All settings on the 2504 WLC is set to default regarding the radios configuration.
Both radio interfaces type (802.11 b/g/n and 802.11a/n) are operational and Admin status Enable on the WLC.
The status of the wireless card is as follows :
Profile Name - Wifi-Test
Link Status - Not associated
Wirless Mode : 5 GHz 54 Mbps
Network Type : Infrastructure
Current Channel : Scanning
I'm trying to become famillar with Cisco Mesh AP's deployment. As I know RAP's (Roof-top AP's are AP's with Ethernet/Fiber connection to the network). I connected these AP's via L2 switch , they can reach WLC and everything looks fine.
No I want to connect few MAP's to my RAP's. But of course firstly we will need to set-up IP addresses for these MAP's? But how? There is no "configure terminal" option at all ( on mesh AP console) .

My problem ist that i have 4 air-cap-1552e APs witch are powerde trugh Power Injectors. They worked fine for a few days but then the controller (7.2.111.3) lose connection to them. Right now i have only one Joined AP. The other 3 are status not joined. I can Ping all 4 Aps and wifi clients are connected through them.

Now the AP connects one time to the WLC 5508 and started a download. After that, the AP never came back. Like we saw on the other installed 1552 RAP's, they all where in local mode.We configured all AP's to bridge mode, but the MAP could not join anymore.Is there a CLI command to change the mode on the AP itself?From the WLC it's not a problem, but for the AP CLI I cannot find sth.

I have one 1552 with the gigabit ethernet connected to the gigabit ethernet to another device that has a point-to-point link with another device where have a ethernet connection with a switch in the same broadcast domain where i have my WLC.
Next to this 1552 i have another 1552 that have the same situation, both with omnidirectional antenna.
I would like to have a Mesh connection with these two 1552 in 5Ghz, because if some point-to-point link is down i need redundancy to the WLC and my network, because i have some clients connected in the 2.4 Ghz in both Access Points.
Couple questions on setting channels on Cisco 1552s. First off almost all locations are fibered and set as RAPs. It doesn't allow me to set the channel assignment method to "global" to use DCA. It says it can't be done for a mesh backhaul AP. Is there any way around this? Next, when the channel is set to "custom" there are only 5 channels listed to choose from in the UNII-3 band. The spec sheet on the 1552 shows it supports other frequencies in the UNII-2 and UNII-2 extended range. Why can't I select those channels?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have to install a wireless mesh network shortly using Cisco 1552 APs. This will be controller based using 5508 controllers. The controllers currently have some 1262 APs configured in a mesh and bridging configuration so happy that it all basically works. My question is - what is the "config mesh range' command doing on the controller ( or setting the Range(RootAP to MeshAP) setting on the controller mesh GUI. The default setting is 12000feet and I have left it at default at present. Just interested in what this is used for - I assume it alters the mesh protocol parameters somehow ( or the RF parameters perhaps ) as it suggests in the guide that mesh APs will reboot following this command being changed.

This Mesh APs will be connected in the Light Pole and the RAP will be connected to the SP Switch located in this same Pole.
The MAP will be powered using Pole source power and will be connected to the RAP over 5.8 Bach haul.
My Customer asks if is possible that in case of SP Switch lost the connectivity to the Backbone IP, the RAP can connected to another RAP and maintain the connectivity to the Backbone over the Air, like REPEATER FALLBACK mode in Autonomous version.
For that I thinking to change the role of the RAP APs to "MAP with UTP Cable", but I'm not sure that a MAP AP with CAPWAP tunnel over UTP Cable can provide a Down link Backhand to another MAPs. That is possible?
We are having a hard time to console into to the APs using the serial connection (USB to serial converter).We have tried the recommended settings (9600, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control (also tried XON/XOFF)) without any success.We are able to connect to 3560 series switches and 5508 WLCs using the same cables, notebook and application (putty, hyperterminal & secureCRT).
View 4 Replies View Relatedjust installed 6 new APs to a client remote site off a 5508 controller. 5508 is running 7.0.116 total of 78 installed APs, mostly 1142's with a dozen or so1242s. All going perfectly until I was about to leave site and noticed two of the APs had no LEDs lit. Checked in the controller, as I had renamed them so knew they were on the system, and they are both there. Connected to each of them and was successful and everything seemed ok - no blue LED though. Rebooted them and the LEDs work as expected during the boot process but as soon as they have entered normal operation the LEDs go dark. urls....but no reports of it with anything other than 3502's.Change process is galacial and heavily monitored so dont want to invoke it if it wont address the concern.

I am trying to connect to my son's wireless internet with my own laptop. I can't get it to connect - I have tried to "renew IP address" and it doesn't work. I also got a message when I went to Start Run, etc etc "no operation can be performed on Wireless network while is has its media disconnected" I am able to connect to my own wireless internet at home on same laptop.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've set up a USB drive to be shared via the router (tried both a fat32 and an NTFS drive). When I login from a windows machine I can use the share point without any problems. When I try to use it from a Mac (mounted via smb://192.168.1.1/sharepoint) I can access the folders and download files. I can even create folders. When I try to copy a file onto the share point (normal file name, small file size) I get an error saying "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." The console log says: "7/3/09 1:01:06 AM kernel smbfs_composeacl: smbfs_setattr 13, ignored "
If I try to copy the file directly via a terminal window I see this:

As I see it there is a problem with leopard trying to set permissions when copying and the router refusing. How to get this to work?
I know that a 1552 AP has 4 Ethernet ports. Is it possible to use them as some standard switch ports? If I connect two ore more devices to these ports do i have connectivity between them?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have an E1000 that is connected to my main computer via Ethernet and have found that it crashes almost every time I run a particular type of operation.I'm testing software and running PHP scripts that invoke cUrl to fetch data from a few different web services via SSL. I would say that at least every other time one of these operations begins, the router crashes -- I am unable to ping its internal IP and I have to power-cycle it to get back up and running.
I don't experience the crashes in any other context and I use the router all day long. I'm one release behind on firmware but the release notes on the most recent version don't suggest that upgrading would make any difference -- no mention of any bugs fixed, for example.
After a storm in my neighborhood my wireless router was reset. It is a wrt54g purchased in 2007. I had to reinstall the Easy Link Advisor from the net because the disk I had did not work with Windows 7. Everything went OK, however, I am not able to add a password. I keep getting the following error message: Error Updating Devise The Method or Operation is not Implemented. No problems till now.There is sometimes abnormal lost of Internet connection, detected by LAN devices. I found it 3 days ago. This dysfunction is occasional 2-5 per day in occasional time.Nothing was changed/upgraded/updated in my WAN cable router or LAN or in the Cisco router. Nothing was changed on computers site (OS,LAN cards, drivers, ...). Just the problem is discovered on the router side.LAN operatation is correct, no problems was founded. Just the devices on LAN lose the internet connection (Win7, Lnx, Mac).
This is status of my WAN - does not matter if the internet connection was lost or not. It is still same:
STATUS-WAN/Gateway
Interface: UP
IP Address is assigned (checked by provider - correct)
Default Gateway and DNSs are assigned too(checked by provider- correct)
What was checked by me:
1. A. I disconnected the cable router from Cable modem
B. I connected the Cable router directly to laptop. Internet connection was right.
2. I called to my Cable provider to check my connection:
- with direct laptop connection to Cable router - Right
- with Cisco router connected to Cable router - Right, but no Internet connection on LAN side behind the Cisco router
3. Standard procedure was tested:
- Unplugged (electricity & cabling) all devices - Cable modem, Cisco router as well.
- Restart of Cable modem, +30 sec. connection of IP cable to Cisco router, start of Cisco router Still same. No Internet connection.
- SETUP/SUMMARY/Network Settings Status - DHCP Release or DHCP Renew was tryed - Still same.After several minutes - was Internet connection Renewed. Just by itself. how?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless access point/modem at one end of my property (which I cannot relocate). To improve wireless connectivity on the other end of the property I am thinking of placing a wifi repeater (probably a cheap one like http:[URL]... mid-point in the property. However I don't quite understand how these things work. I assume repeaters, extenders, boosters are all the same thing?
Does the repeater actually create a new seperate wifi network, so I will effectively have two wifi networks/SSIDs? or will my wireless devices still see only one wifi network? If it creates two wifi networks what happens when I move through the property with say a laptop, will the laptop need to disconnect from one and reconnect to the other hence interrupting the connection? (which is not ideal).
Also does the repeater take up an IP from my main wireless access point/modem? My setup uses a block of static IPs and hence I would prefer not to waste an IP on the repeater if possible.Homeplugs is something else I'm looking into but that seems to be a more expensive option. With Homeplugs I would disable the wireless on the main access point/modem. Then use the Homeplug to put a wireless access point in the centre of my property hence giving fuller coverage.I've also tried higher DBi antennas (& directional ones) but they have not been effective.
