I want to be able to send snmp traps to my NMS alerting our NOC to when we reach our configured max-associations on an ap. We currently use both 1130 AG and 1140-2N in autonomous mode, no controller. I have found a debug command "debug dot11 station connection failure" and the output of a test AP shows us the fact that the maximum number was reached. I need to find if it is possible to trap on such information.

I'm using aironet 1210, 1130, 1100, 1040 autonomous mode, in a University campus network with thousands of daily user.We're using RADIUS authentication and AES/WPA2.In the past, there were some major issues with traffic (broadcast / multicast) in the wireless networks, that would spread all around the campus causing excessive processing at the access-points.To solve the problem we decided to implement access list at the radio interface to drop all the unwanted traffic. I'm pretty sure this is caused by the ACL (I've tested removing the ACL and the issue never occurred) but I can't just get ride of it.
Any alternative way to drop broadcasts?
We are using WLC4402 for our Aironet 1240AG access points. The clients are connecting to the access points and are authenticating to the RADIUS server. I am seeing the logs in Server 2008 but they are being rejected due to Network Policy on the NPS server.
Where do I see the Authentication Type on the WLC4400 or the 1240's? In order for the clients (authenticated via Active Directory user) I have to set the Authentication in the NPS Connection Request Policy to "Allow clients to connect without negotiating an authentication method".
I do not have a certificate on the server and my method options are MS-CHAP-v2, MS-CHAP, CHAP, PAP, SPAP, and allow without negotiating. This RADIUS server was moved from Server 2003 IAS to Server 2008 NPS and there were no issues in Server 2003 IAS. I have all authentication methods allowed and it still gives me the error below. Only when I check "Allow clients to connect without negotiating an authentication method" it allows the authentication to proceed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working on setting up a new WLAN infrastructure. I have set up different SSIDs connected to different VLANs, in the AP. I also want to use Windows NPS for authenticating users on the different SSIDs, with different authentication methods based on which SSID the user/device is connecting to. To do that, NPS needs to get the SSID, but the Aironet 1240 only sends its MAC address in the Called-Station-Id. I have read a bit about this, and found out that if I have a WLC, it will add the SSID to to the Called-Station-Id. But since we do not have a WLC, I am trying to get this to work anyway. Is it possible to modify the Called-Station-Id to include the SSID on an Aironet 1240? If not, is it possible to send the SSID as a separate attribute that can be read by the NPS?

My first try is to get these values using snmp, but so far had no luck finding the right MIB. I don't think the console might be useful, will it ?
I know I'm assuming alot, that the Aironet enables for a 'iwlist' dump, and that these values can be retrieved through snmp. But seems something reasonable for them to have, even if I haven't found it.

I understood to create a an ACL pointing to his IP of the server, and that create a community and associate this access list with that community. Namely, which clients have been connected, and how much traffic has been transmitted per time slot. I suppose this is just a matter of making a different query to the WCS database, since the data are the same used for providing the information on the client association and traffic history. Though, I haven't find a way on WCS to get this information.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several autonomous 1240ag AP's that I need to enable a second ssid(Guest and VLAN2) for guest access and while I have configured the AP's according to the driections, I am not able to connect to the second ssid(Guest), but it is broadcasting. When I check the logs, I do not even see my laptop or any other device for that matter, trying to authenticate, what am I missing? I can see, connect and get an IP from the first ssid(Production and VLAN1), which is on the native VLAN and my 3COM 3C17203 switch port(14) is tagged for both VLAN's. Although I am sure that this would work better with a Catalyst switch, but it is not in my budget to replace all 4 of these, but I need this to work.

One of the buildings lost connectivity to the WLC's breifly a couple of days ago and all seemed to have lost their SNMP settings. Connectivity was restored, but couldnt poll the APs. When I SSH'd on to a couple of AP's, and manually configured the snmp-server community xxxx ro - SNMP started working again. Since there are many, there must be an easier way of doing it.I've tried resetting the AP from the WLC and also powering down AP's and bringing them back up.

We had a system outage due to power problems a few days ago, and now our WLC is showing short term packet loss when monitoring it using SNMP. We also monitor it using ICMP, but that shows no packet loss. I looked at the interface statistics on the WLC and all of the switches in between and there are no errors to be seen. is there any way to troubleshoot this problem on the WLC? I am more familiar with IOS than the WLC CLI.

Also these two Servers should use the same community string to manage WLC.
We were able to configure the SNMP community string for one server IP (to allow access) through GUIWhile trying to add another Server – IP with same community string – it didn’t allow As per the configuration guide, Controller can use only one IP address range to manage SNMP community. So we cannot configure the same community string to allow only two different server IP addresses [code] We currently configured the major subnet ( 10.x / 8 - two match both server addresses) and it works fineAlso when we tried 0.0.0.0 / 0.0.0.0 , it didn’t work (SNMP was failing)But this creates a security issue wherein anybody can poll the WLC.
