I can ping 192.168.1.254 gateway for about 5 seconds and lose the Ethernet connection.On IE nothing happens.Is there any tool I can use to find the router address or update firmware or restore factory default settings.

View 11 Replies View RelatedWe just replaced our ancient 6509 dedicated SAN switch with a Nexus 5548UP (with 4 2248 FEXs).Our old SAN 6509 was completely separated from the Core 6509, and that Core 6509 doubled as a Datacenter switch. We've now segmented the "Datacenter" and "Core." The SAN and servers are connected to the Nexus gear rather than the Core. The old SAN had only 3 vlans. One for SAN data (Vlan16), one for management interfaces (Vlan250), and one for switch management (Vlan15).
As part of my cleanup, I want to get rid of that Vlan15 and use vlan250 for switch management. In another building, we have a 3750 that provides SAN (Vlan16) and management (Vlan250) connectivity to a single Equallogic box and a Dell PowerVault tape drive for backup purpose. That 3750 is the only device that still has an address on Vlan15 (other than the core). Refer to the drawing below.
The Core 6509 is the gateway for Vlan250 and Vlan15. I have created an interface for Vlan250 on the 3750. ACLs exist on vty connections of each switch allowing telnet access ONLY from the Mgmt 2960. There are no ACLs on the Vlans themselves.From the Mgmt 2960, I can telnet to the 3750 using either its Vlan250 IP address or its Vlan15 IP address. However, if I shut down Interface Vlan15 on the Core 6509, I can no longer telnet to the 3750, not even using its Vlan250 IP address.
The connection times out. If I attempt to telnet to the 3750 via Vlan250 from the Core 6509, I get connection refused (which I should get due to the ACL on the vty connections). I can still telnet to other devices on Vlan250 (such as the management interfaces on the Nexus 5Ks). Why am I able to telnet to the 3750's Vlan250 Interface only when the Core's Vlan15 Interface is Up?
When i access a url with http, it works fine. But with https it dosen't work, and get the message on the firefox as "The proxy server is refusing connections Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections. Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct. Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working.

Have tried re-flashing firmware to current version (was already on it), disabled SPI, disabling Denial of Service, all no change.Also noted another issue with logging; bug? When the router was brand new out of box and again after firmware flash:
* the "All" drop down of System Log was BLANK, not logging any entries although other drop downs such as "System Log and Firewall Log were
* email alerts were not being triggered for log entries
* clear log button appears to resolve the issue after which the ALL shows all entries now

View 21 Replies View RelatedMy PC is connected via Ethernet cable to my Sky Broadband box, which also provides internet access to my laptop. Yesterday, all of a sudden, my PC refused to access the Internet. Whenever I try to go on any website through Mozilla, it says server cannot be found, for any site. My Network Status says it is fine, and my laptop still works perfectly, but my home PC all of a sudden just can't surf the Internet. Weirdly, a couple of my games can still work online, though and chat clients like IceChat are unable to, aswell as VOIP clients such as Raidcall. I have no idea what it is, since my Internet was fine the day before this hapened on my PC. I've been through the usual steps of checking your cable, restarting router, diagnosing connection etc, but it still fails to work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer 7750G, running Windows 7,connected to our home network using a Dynex router. At the moment this is the only laptop in the house that is having problems with connectivity. Starting yesterday, it only connects intermittently. When I run diagnostics, it says the following problems have been fixed but it either solves the problem for a few minutes only or not at all: "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" or "Default gateway is not available".
IPV6 connectivity also shows 'no internet access' and sometimes IPV4 reports no internet. I've unplugged and rebooted the modem and router a few times but that hasn't solved the problem.
Edit: I ran troubleshoot again, and it says the following issue is not fixed: "Wireless Network Connection 2 does not have a valid IP configuration".
I have a Cisco 3725 running IOS 12.3. I have three WAN connections (2 x 100Mb and 1 x 2Mb serial) and I need to replace the 2Mb serial connection with a further 100Mb connection. However, I have not got any spare 100Mb sockets.My plan is to use a switch that supports VLANs, connect the three WAN connections to the switch, each in their own VLAN, then connect the switch to one port on the router, configuring the switch port as a trunk (so that it passes all three VLANs across the link) and configuring the router so that for that single Ethernet interface, it has three subinterfaces each configured for a VLAN that matches the VLAN used for the corresponding WAN connection.
I am a bit rusty on my IOS so I wanted to run this all past the community for feedback. [code] Any thoughts on whether or not that will work? Are there any commands from the original interface configurations that I CANNOT use when moving them to a subinterface? I'm thinking that the speed & duplex commands need to be removed?
We're getting "Connaction Timeout / Connection Failure" error messages several time per day. Here is our setup:

From past few months, we keep getting Connection Timeout and Connection Failure error messages in our vendor application which connects to SQL Server 2005. Also Terminal Server 2003 keep disconnecting for every few hours.After several days of troubleshooting, we come to know that this Cisco ASA 5500 is not working properly. When I access the ASDM, it shows several warning messages.I know there is a setting option to configure TimeOut, but is there anyway to test and track the ASA 5500 regarding this Timeout issues?

It works well for the wireless connection but my Lan connection (wired connection) does not work. The Lan computer connects to the router but cannot access the internet. All of my machines work OK with a Netgear G router, including the Lan computer.

I was told that this Cisco ASA appliace would be able to translate the network address as a mask in order to make the necessary connection with the other site connection.

There are 3 connections on the server running Windows Server 2003. 1st is External, 2nd is Internal and 3rd is VPN (please see attahement). There is nothing to do with External and Internal connections, and everytime the Internet connection get slow, I have to disconnection VPN (connection) and connect it again.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter connecting to the internet on my laptop, the internet connection will work great for 10 minutes or less than it slows down drastically or essentially not working at all. If I disconnect and reconnect it will work again but just for a short amount of time. The wireless connection works great on iPod, IPhone, and tablet. Downloaded Kaspersky Antivirus which said it fixed some viruses but internet got worse after that. Tried restoring the computer to factory settings and the internet stays connected for what seem a few minutes longer.

We have checked cables, brought other machines into the house , and still cannot get a DSL connection. We tried the proxy settings others have posted. I have not had a chance to see if I can ping any internet suppliers, but to me it seems like a problem with the modem itself.I am not very tech savy, but I am able to follow directions, to trouble shoot.Oh yeah called my Internet provider, and they said it was phone line problems, but phone works great. Didn't even walk me through testing the modem.

Case: My home has few laptops and mobile phones connected wireless to the home's Router -> & to cable modem.
Problem: When I turn-on this particular HP's PC and connect to the internet (wireless) - the whole house internet connection becomes intermittent (e.g. OFF / ON). The Internet connection is fine (no problem), if this PC is not connected to the Internet (not connected to ie or google).
Trouble Shoot (without success)
- I have reformatted the PC and scan the PC with Malware in safe mode (no infection).

It is displaying lights for DSL, PWR, INET, WLAN.I can connect but it always reads the message "No Internet Access"I went to the service provider to get this fixed. And they created bridge mode through LAN so I could connect using a username and password. (create a new connection > broadband ). But I innocently pressed reset button. I have a home network. There are a total of 3 PCs. Each runs Server 2008 32 bit. One PC - Lets say Server A has 2 NICs with Ip addresses, 10.0.0.10/30, 10.0.0.2/30. Other two computers Server B and Server C have single NIC with addresses 10.0.0.1/30 and 10.0.0.9/30 resp. So as you can see that there are two subnets 10.0.0.2 - 1 and 10.0.0.9 - 10. I can ping B and C from A. I want that B and C can also ping each other and if I run tracert on B or C, it should give me the route to the destination via A. All this without any other hardware. Like using route add... etc eg. if I write tracert 10.0.0.9 on B, it should return a route like 10.0.0.1-----10.0.0.10------10.0.0.9.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently moved into a new place and my internet's been very spotty at best. The internet seems very fast at times but slows down, and even completely stop working, at other times. The weird thing is that my computer never says I'm disconnected from the internet. Instead, I either get disconnected from my games or the webpages I try to load show that it "cannot be displayed." The place I moved into provides wall jacks for a T-1 internet connection. I've tried directly connecting the ethernet cable to my desktop/laptop as well as connecting it to a router and trying out the wireless, all to no avail. The problem only seems to be resonating from where I'm currently living, as when I go onto campus, the wireless is fine.Also tried turning off firewalls, using a different browser, resetting the router, and a new ethernet cable.
