I am have 3 machines int he house connected to the internet but one does not have internet access. It shows connected to the wireless network and from the command prompt there is an ip assigned to the laptop. But i cannot ping the gateway or any ip I get General Failure.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a new Alienware X51 running Win 7. It's connected to a home LAN, both wired and wirelessly. For the prior two days internet connectivity has been fine. Today, the PC will not connect to the internet. The Network and Sharing center in control panel shows that the PC is connected to both the wireless network and the wired network, but with no internet connectivity. All other computers and devices in the house are able to connect to the internet. Tried restarts, virus scans, router power off/on, ipconfig /release and renew, all with no luck. When I try and ping other computers in the LAN or the router I get a "General Failure" message.

One computer does not see the other through pinging...but somehow we are connected...strange i know. My confusion ( being network illerate ) is with the names and etc. and some terminologies ie ..client? host? One of my laptops is having a connection problem. I have 3 other laptops that can connect perfectly with my router, and normally there's only 1 laptop that is connected to my router. The laptop with the slow connection (takes 5 HOURS to load a website, sometimes will not even load), i re-installed the OS, and installed all the drivers needed, and it still wont work. it shows strong connection to me, and im sure the password for the router is right. below is the ipconfig/all information. Having this problem for 2+ weeks now!!! I think this problem started when i restored my router to factory setting, my router is Netgear WGR614v6.

In Device Manager, under Network Adapters there is a "Realtek PCIe GBE..." device properly installed. But under Other Devices there are now more entries with exclamation mark:
- Network controller
- Multimedia controller
- PCI Communication controller
etc
I tried updating the drivers, then deleting and reinstalling but no success so far. Still can't connect to the internet. The browser can see the router, at 192.168.1.1 I don't know where the problem is.
i have a Echolife HG520c. internet through wireless is working fine but the internet through cable is not. this seems unusual FYI: i have checked the connections and all are fine, i have restarted my system and also the Echolife HG520c and it still has the same problem

When I watch videos on streaming sites the load bar tends to go up but only so far before freezing. If you slide the button along once the umbrella spinny thing gets going then the load bar will kick back into life again for a few seconds before freezing! The problem also effects downloads. Anything that takes longer the 5 or 10 seconds will fail. This has stopped me downloading simple things such as iplayer and flash updates. I know its not a problem with my computer as it effects all the machines that pass through the house. Were currently getting Virgin wireless broadband (so I dont think its a speed issue).A tecky friend of mine thinks it might be something to do with the 'packets' of information or the channel that my router is operating on

Normally, all is fine, but for some reason I can't connect to the internet on windows 7, but I can on my Mac OS on the same computer. I ran troubleshoot, but it says it can't find any problems. I was connecting to my home network yesterday, but I couldn't get on the internet, however now I'm just stuck connecting to "Identifying...". I installed a game yesterday, and I'm thinking that could be the problem, but I can't uninstall it because I can't connect to Steam. I tried system restore, but I get the error message 0x80070001, and if i choose to press run system restore anyway, I get the message "Catastrophic failure 0x8000ffff". Everything is plugged in.

I have a ADSL Huwavi modem by my ISP installed at my place.. Now the wireless from that device is very bad.. So I purchased WAG120N to setup a daisy-chain kind of setup in my other bedroom. I also put another D-link DIR-600 in between to give a connection to the first floor (via Ethernet cable).
So my huwavi is the ISP device, then a LAN from it goes to the dlink internet (WAN) port. then one cable from the d-link LAN port to the LAN1 of WAG120N and another upstairs.
Now all of this was working perfectly.. I put same SSIDs and Pwds on both ISP router and WAG120N and i was getting seamless net..
Now yesterday we removed the ISP modem to do some shifting.. Upon reconnecting, the ISP modem, Dlink work as before, but the WAG120N refuses to connect to the net.. it shows DSL down and doesn't access the www.
What I felt is that since i changed LAN ports on my ISP device and dlink, the static IP settings on the WAG120N should be changed.. i modified it, set to to point to the dlink for internet and huwavie for DHCP.. yet nothings happening..
I even connected the WAG120N directly to the Huwavie, yet it fails to connect to the net..
i'm getting "general network error" while accessing application from server..
client machine: Windows 7
server machine: Windows 2008 server
Switch : 24 port unmanaged D-Link switch ..
network cable: CAT-5 cable.

Me and my friend is currently setting up a Xen test environment. As you can se from the picture below we are running a Cisco ASA 5505 to reach the network from the outside.But the problem is that we want to reach the virtual pfSense's subnet's through the Cisco AnyConnect VPN. And currently the pfSense's are only configured with a public ip and a virtual interface to the VM's.could solve this problem by buying another PCI NIC, so that we have a physical link from the "pfSense box" to a tagged VLAN on the switch.But we are having problems configuring the switch to general vlan's. Cause Xen can't have it's management interface on a tagged VLAN directly from the XenServer,but the switch can tag the packet when it reaches the switchport. I would like to have "switch port general allowed vlan 2" for admin and 10 for "LAN"And then trunk the port to the Cisco ASA. But again, Xen stops me from doing this.

I've configured the router using the Easy Setup Assistant CD provided and have a wifi connection between the router provided however when using network diagnostics, while the wifi connection is fine, I am getting "failed to connect to Internet" and "failed to connect to server" messages. I have tried adjusting settings manually but without any progress.

I have 2 NIC cards on the same machine running Redhat 9.I need to setup the machine in such a way that both cards are in the same subnet but card on port eth1 can be reached through card on port eth0.I tried modifying the iptables (with the limited knowledge that I have on it,used google) and even tried turning it off.I also tried setting files /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward and /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/all/proxy_arp to 1 but was unable to ping from IP address on port 0 to IP address on port 1 and vice-versa

So the problem seems to be routing/NAT on my ASA because my pings aren't being directed out the tunnel. The VPN in question has 64.106.x.x as the peer and AES 256/SHA for phase 1 and 2.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI will be moving away from my home computer but will still want access to it so I am trying to set up a VPN between it (home computer is windows 7) and my fedora 15 machine. They are currently on the same 192.168.1.0/24 network so I'm wondering if that may be the cause for my troubles.
Here's my setup:
Fedora 15 (192.168.1.3) is running the PPTP server with pptpd and gives 192.168.1.66 to any vpn client that connects to it./etc/pptpd.conf only has "localip 192.168.1.3" and "remoteip 192.168.1.66" options in it /etc/ppp/options.pptpd has "refuse-pap, refuse-chap, refuse-mschap, require-mschap-v2, require-mppe-128, proxyarp, lock, nobsdcomp, novj, novjccomp, nologfd, debug, dump" options Windows 7 (192.168.1.6, 192.168.1.66) is the client and I have it set to use connect to the public IP address of my router, PPTP, require encryption, only allow mschap-v2, don't use gateway in ipv4 properties.Both machines are connected to the same Belkin router (192.168.1.254) and I can ping locally to and from each computer no problem. The problem is my VPN connection is very inconsistent. I will open a ftp connection to 192.168.1.66 from 192.168.1.3, login, start uploading a file, get about 10MB uploaded, and then the VPN connection will die and the upload will fail. But, when I have "ping 192.168.1.66" running while uploading, the connection stays alive.
