D-Link DIR-655 :: Causing Excessive Battery Drain On Android Phone

May 19, 2011

I've got a Samsung Epic 4G and whenever I leave the wifi connected on my phone at home, it seems to never go into sleep so the battery drains overnight doing nothing.  If I turn off wifi and leave it on the 3G network, battery barely drains at all.  Is there something in my router that could be keeping my phone awake when it's connected.  I've tested it on a friends wifi network and my phone sleeps just fine, it's only when I'm connected to my DIR-655.

Tethering Using My Android Phone?

Apr 2, 2013

Unfortunately, despite my best efforts to find a better alternative, where I live my only option for unlimited internet with any speed whatsoever is to tether my DROID DNA phone to my computer using the app PdaNet. I've been doing this for over a year now without any problems.I have an unlimited data plan through Verizon and although I only have 3G at my house, it is still far better than anything else I've found.

Recently I started playing the online game World of Warcraft. Obviously the speed isn't ideal, but it worked perfectly fine for about 3 weeks. One night the game started to get really slow and after a minute or two would freeze up entirely. When this happened, I would have an error message on my phone at the PdaNet screen that read "Communication with client has been broken." Despite restarting things, this continued to happen. I assumed that it was because the weather was bad outside, but the problem didn't go away the next day. When I noticed that my internet speed when browsing the web had slowed down as well I figured that although I supposedly have unlimited data, that Verizon must have slowed me down for crossing over a certain download barrier. I've heard that they do this.

So this went on for the next week until the first of the month when my data was reset through Verizon. Well I'm still having the same issue when trying to play the game. It will work alright for anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes, and then all of a sudden start to get slower and slower until it freezes completely and I have the "Communication with client has been broken" error screen on my phone. I'm not sure if my internet speed in general is back to normal or not because I haven't spent enough time online to know for sure, but at the moment it seems to be.

Cannot Pair Android Phone And Laptop

Feb 7, 2013

For some weeks I have been trying to pair my Samsung Galaxy S2 with my Lenovo Thankpad SL500. The consistent message is "Unable to pair with [laptop]. Incorrect PIN or PASSWORD.

Well which is? PIN? or PASSWORD? - or does the system not know, so it's taking a guess? If it doesn't know, how can I possibly know?

Having read many articles about his on the www, I am still none the wiser as to what is causing this. What's wrong with the PIN or PASSWORD - is it too hot, or too cold? Wrong font face, colour or size? Wrong latitiude, longitude or elevation? Wrong time of day or month? Are the auspices in general not favourable? Am I facing in the wrong direction as I type? Have I chosen the wrong weight/color of paper for my printer? Is my body odor unacceptable? Is the length of grass in my lawn not quite right? Oh, the number of options is so large - where does one start?

Oh, and before I forget - assuming I can find what constitutes a correct PIN or PASSWORD, where does one set it? btw pairing this phone with the media player in my 10 year old car works immediately and flawlessly!

Corporate Wifi Access From Android Phone

Jun 11, 2012

I am trying to connect to my office wifi which uses a proxy server. Scenario 1: I am using Samsung Bada (wave 1), connected to the internet successfully and also any applications that require an internet connection including Samsung's app store. While, connecting via open networks like home wifi and other friends' wifi also worked without any issue. Scenario 2: Now I also have an android based Galaxy pocket: even after entering all the required proxy setting as mentioned above, I can access websites via browser but cannot access samsung's app store, google's play store, skype, sipdroid etc. I know it is nothing to do with the network administration as I am still accessing via my samsung wave but not via android. Is there anything like a network profile I need to assign for these applications?

Cisco VPN :: Setting Up RV180W To Work With Android Phone?

TP-Link ADSL2+ Wireless :: TD-W8970 - TP-LINK USB Printer Controller Is Causing BSOD?

Apr 12, 2013

Region : Portugal
Model : TD-W8970
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP :

Two week ago I bought the TD-W8970 ADSL router model. Im using a canon pixma IP4700 printer connected to the router USB print server port and everything is working without any issues if I just look to the router functionalities.

However since that Ive installed TP-LINK USB Printer Controller, my both computers (desktop with windows 7 and laptop with windows 8) are getting very often some BSOD.

I was editing all files automatically generated by windows on this cases and if seems that the cause of this issue is the file TplinkUDSMBus.sys (installed by USB Printer Controller).

To check the impact of this, Ive uninstalled the TP-LINK USB Printer Controller software from my laptop and I dont have any BSOD since 5 days ago. In the desktop Im still have the same issue.

The router print server is a nice functionality and I really want to use it.

D-Link DIR-655 Causing Internet Slow Downs?

Jun 10, 2011

I have been using my DIR-655 for about 2 weeks now with Road Runner wideband services. Starting yesterday my internet became very slow and I discovered the cause was the router. I tried resetting it to factory settings and things will be fine and run smoothly for about 5-15 minutes but after that it goes back to being extremely slow. My speed tests would go from 10ms (normal) to 250-450ms. Before this issue occurred the Dlink was perfect, had full speeds. I am running a wire Ethernet connection.

I am currently using revB and tried upgrading firmware to 2.01NA which had no effect, but make my internet seemingly go back to normal for the first few minutes then nosedive again.I have also changed my speed/duplex settings in Network Config to 1gbs Full Duplex. I've also disabled QoS, and still no change. Not sure what else to do.

When directly connected to the modem everything seems fine. The modem is also the provided Motorola SBG6580 which I have called Time Warner to set the modem into bridge mode and have the DIR-655 connected to it.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Boxee Causing It To Reset And Disabling Internet?

Oct 28, 2011

Basically, my issue stems from the latest Boxee firmware from 2 weeks ago, that since then, its been causing my DIR 655 to reset itself, thereby disabling my whole home internet.  It eventually turns back on again after a while, but the process doesn't stop.Basically, my DIR 655 is connected, hard wired to my boxee.  I also have a NAS 323 hard wired to my router.  I've had this setup on my boxee, reading all my movies/shows from my NAS without any issues for the past 10 months.  Then the firmware from 2 weeks ago on the boxee started to cause my router to reset.  I thought it was a hardware router failure, so I bought another of the same model to try that out, same thing happened though.  When I rolled back my boxee firmware to the previous version, it no longer causes my router to reset. Now, besides me trying to figure out how to correctly block the boxee from updating on the router.  Is there anything I can do on the router to tell it to prevent it from letting the boxee forcing it to reset?  I'm on High Speed DSL.  My internet provider modem is acting as a bridge to my DIR 655.  Its been working fine for the past 10 months.

I've also done the following:Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find thse under Status/Device Info/Wan section. Turned off ALL QoS Turned off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.Turned on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on my router.Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.I have Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP..

Basically, I've put my boxee back to my previous firmware, and this doesn't cause my router to reset and disable my internet.  But I don't get how/why a firmware update can trigger my router to do this?

Cisco Routers :: RV110W Excessive Syslog Messages?

Mar 6, 2012

I bought a RV110W wireless router a couple months ago that I've been pretty happy with.

However, I have one significant problem with it.  It is configured to send syslog messages to an internal server.  Twice now it has gone into a mode where it starts dumping messages like,

ip_conntrack_is_ipc_allowed: ipc_entry_is_full

continuously, at a rate of about 20 per second.  It otherwise seems to function normally, but of course if unnoticed my syslog file quickly grows to hundreds or thousands of megabytes.  A reboot restores normal operation.  It is running firmware 1.1.0.9.  A search on the internet turned up no information about this problem.

It may be some corruption is occuring in the router's OS, or perhaps this is something that can be triggered externally (in which case it would be a weak form of DoS attack?  Or maybe worse if in this state it is unable to properly apply the firewall rules.)

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: TL-WDR3600 USB Print Server Causing BSOD

Mar 15, 2013

Region : UnitedStates
Model : TL-WDR3600
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.26 Build 130129 Rel.59449n
ISP : Charter

I've set up my printer (HP PSC 2410) to the router using TL-WDR3600_V1.0_USB Print Service Client Setup and that part's fine. The USB Printer Controller sees the printer as an "auto-connected printer" and I can select the printer as my default to print to. My problem lies with the fact that every time I try to print something, it causes a BSOD. I'm using Windows 8 and checked to make sure the USB Print Service Client Setup program was compatible with Windows 8 before I attempted anything. The HP PSC 2410 printer is on the Print Server Compatibility list so I don't know why I'm having problems.

The error I get each time I try to print is: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (TplinkUDSTcpBus.sys). One of the draws of this router was that I could hook up my printer via USB and print wirelessly

The wireless devices are on a Windows Domain and use 802.1x EAP authentication, authenticating the user and computer info with a RADIUS Server. I look at the logs and all it can tell me is Reason:Unspecified ReasonCode:1. I read that the Reason Code is due to "Client associated but no longer authorized" but to be honest I am not sure what that means.

Cisco Wireless :: AP1242 Excessive Transmit Discards And Performance Complaints

Apr 15, 2013

I have an AP1242 near a couple of conference rooms.  I get complaints when we have a large contingent in there and some try to download documents.  The bandwidth consumption is meage - less than 2Mbps.  But there could be say 50 people in those training rooms.  I see no errors at the FE interface on the AP but I do see a good number of Transmit Discards.

Are 50 users connected to an AP1242 simply more than should be expected of the device?  802.11g is the radio.

Are transmit discards indicative of some kind of configuration problem?  The users in these cases are generally very close to the access point - within a few feet even.

If it is indicative of a configuration problem would that be an issue of the configuration of the laptop wifi cards or a problem at the AP?
