D-Link DIR-655 :: Showing Xbox Wireless When Connected By Cat5?
Dec 16, 2012I have tried all firmware and go into router settings and it shows it's sending a wireless signal to Xbox. I have it connected via Cat5 cable.

View 5 RepliesI just got a DIR-655 and set it all up pretty easily. I have 6 wired and 3 wireless. All work fine and all are set to use DHCP. But if I go (in the router) to the Lan Computers list under Device Info, three devices (2 wired, 1 wireless) do not appear. I do have a switch added to the system, but of the three devices connected to it, 1 shows in th Lan Computers list and the other 2 do not.Since everything works, I'm mostly just curious why this is. Every previous router I've had showed everything correctly.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIve been trying to work this out on XBL forum for a while. all my settings seem to be correct ( UPnP, NAT type: open, no port forwarding or triggering, IP settings on Xbox's are auto).
The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?
I have bought 2 white single ariel recievers for wireless xbox live and red light stays on both so cant be them so what am i doing wrong , i have had it working on a cable but not wireless

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to firmware version 1.0.03 I started to have this weird issue: I have four PCs connected to this wireless router via wireless G. They all run Windows 7 Home Premium. After a few hours I started to notice that the DHCP client table is empty even if all four PCs are connected to the internet. This causes a networking problem because one of the PC serves as a file server and it grants access by IP addresses. Not being able to "see" those computers, my access is denied.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNo matter what I try, I cannot get the DIR-655 to connect to my Xbox 360 Wireless N Adapter with N, only connects with G. If I use N only mode, it won't connect at all, even if I manually input the settings. Setting the security to WPA2 Only and setting the Cipher Type to AES doesn't work.

I have recently bought a wireless N 150 usb Dlink adapter, i have installed the software and have conected it to my router using WPS (I do not know the passphrase). The adapter is working excellent but when I added the adapter, my old SSID (Dlink) got switched to Dlinkelb7. Dlinkelb7 has full bars when the old Dlink only comes up so often with one bar. Since the switch of Dlink to Dlinkelb7 my xbox 360 adapter has a very hard time connecting to Dlink and it will not connect to Dlinkelb7 because it needs a passphrase. My router is also Dlink Model DIR-615.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my cable modem from the Motorola Sufboard 5120 to the DOCSIS 3.0 capable 6120. Provisioned it with Comcast and their "Blast" service (supposedly it caps at 16 down, 2 up).
I had, in the past, used my desktop via N-format wireless (DWA-525 N-format PCI adapter and DIR-655 N-format router) to do a speedtest.net test. I was getting 16 down and 2 up (as advertised). When I switched to the 6120, I did a speedtest.net test again to see what kind of gains, if any, I was getting. Turns out, I was getting 20+ down (nice improvement) and 1/2 Mbps up (a fourth of what I used to be getting?). Called Comcast. They "sent signals" (don't they always?) and claimed that it fixed it. My download speeds increased a smidge (about 22), but my upload speeds were still .5. Called Motorola, they had me do a few things and now I get 1 Mbps up and 27 - 30 down via wireless.
My download speeds are great. I'm content with that. If I hardwire from the cable modem directly to a ****py old laptop, a speedtest.net shows 4 Mbps up. So why do I get such a high upload speed when hardwired (4 Mbps), but a fraction of it (1/4th) when wireless? I'm not using any other devices to sap bandwidth (some are connected -- i.e. another desktop, my Droid phone, etc., but aren't actively pulling packets). And why would it go from 2 up (on my desktop via wireless in the past) to only 1 up (via wireless now) when the setup is the same across the board (as best I recall) other than upgrading my cable modem.
Since I get 4 up when hardwired straight off the cable modem, I assume my DIR-655 is slowing me down somehow. How to pick up the pace a bit? I've already tried the standard "power cycling", etc.
Oh, and the reason I go wireless -- my cable modem and wireless router are in my game room in the basement for my PS3. My desktop computer (and the wife's desktop computer) are two floors directly above it in our "office". Signal strength is "excellent" ... always has been. And again, pretty much everything is the same.

So I'm trying to fix gateway laptop running Vista. The computer can connect both wired and wirelessly to the internet just fine. Sadly that's all it does. It doesn't let you use IE/Firefox/Skype or video games or anything. Every program acts like you're not connected. All signs seem to point towards it working just fine. I'm at a loss and can't figure out what's wrong with it.
Also, the internet works just fine if you start in safe mode with networking. You can use IE/Firefox just fine. I've tried turning off proxies and such but there aren't any as far as I can tell.
I have configured remote access VPN with radius authentication in my firewall ( ASA 5510). When tried to connect the VPN with Cisco vpn client, the following error is showing,

I got a DAP-1522 and here is my situation. I have a wireless router connected to the internet downstairs. I want to extend the range by creating a new wireless network upstairs. So I want the DAP-1522 to connect to the wireless router, and then become another access point upstairs.
I was able to connect to the wireless router in the DAP-1522 setup wizard, but nowhere was I able to configure that actual DAP-1522 WIRELESS setup. Nothing ever showed up on the "Wireless Settings". Just "Save Settings" "Do Not Save Settings" and the rest of the screen empty. On the status page it does show it is connected.
Am I doing something wrong or will the DAP-1522 not do this?
I've tried changing the settings on my DLink wireless router, resetting it and my cable modem (by unplugging them and plugging them in again), and even restoring my iPod, but I cannot find my home wireless network! Both my iPod and my PC can find other networks, but not my own.My network is WPA-2 only, which my iPod should be able to see. The cipher type is TKIP. My wireless channel is 2.437GHz (channel 6, I can't change it). I even tried resetting my network settings on my ipod, with no luck.My router is a DLink DIR 615 wireless router and my computer is a PC that runs Windows 7. The router is able to connect to the internet; it's just the wireless portion that isn't working.

Set up the WDR4300 with a USB drive connected (Platinum MyDrive CP 500 GB USB 3.0).Enabled the Media server, shared the entire drive, stuck an test .avi on there. My laptop has no trouble playing it from the attached storage, my Xbox sees the folders and files, recognizes them as playable formats but then does nothing once I hit play to get the file going. If I copy the exact same file to the shared folders on my laptop, navigate from the Xbox to that location it streams within the second. Also tried the same thing with a 16 Gb USB thumbdrive, same result.

They are both on one wireless connection (Wireless Network Connection 3). When i try to go on the internet, it says i'm not connected. i tried disconnecting from the unidentified network, but that disconnects me from lower net too.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a computer that is directly connected to my internet broadband service via my router and modem. From that computer, by use of a router (of course), I have a wireless connection to another desktop computer in my home, about 90 feet away. From that remote wireless internet broadband connection, I'd like to connect to yet a third computer. That third computer will be 200 more feet away. I have a direct Cat5 wire from the wireless computer desktop to that point 200 feet away. I'm thinking of adding a computer at that point. So, that raises my question: Can a computer receiving a wireless signal, then relay or transmit that signal to another computer that is "hard wired" to it via a Cat5 wire?

Connection through LAN is fine into desktop however the minute we try to connect an additional wireless router the connection fails. We have even put the LAN from the second Wireless into the desktop and there is no connectivity. We have had a technician come to sort the problem, they advise that they have no explanation as to why the LAN works from the distance but the wireless does not. They have suggested that we need to cut the CAT5 half way and put an antenna up to connect the two routers.

I have the WDR-3600 with a usb drive. I have updated to latest firmware 3.13.26. I am having problems with the media server. I have 331 folders shared in the Music folder. When I access it via the DLNA it will only show the first 123 folders. I can access all of the folders via network share but not via the media server. I have checked this on my music player and my android phone and tablet. Both of them can only see the first 123 folders.
I'm building a security camera system, which can connect to internet to be viewed from away. The camera receiver connects to the modem with a Cat 5 ethernet cable, which results in a cable running across the room. My modem is a wireless type, but the camera receiver only has cable support it seems.
Is there a device that I can use to get rid of the Cat5 cable in this scenario?
