I'm building a security camera system,which can connect to internet to be viewed from away.The camera receiver connects to the modem with a Cat 5 ethernet cable,which results in a cable running across the room. My modem is a wireless type,but the camera receiver only has cable support it seems.
Is there a device that I can use to get rid of the Cat5 cable in this scenario?
My daughter is going to university. An Ethernet connection is provided but she wants to work wirelessly. Is there a gadget to attach to the Ethernet port that will create a wireless signal for her to connect her iPad and PC laptop?

However, one of the other big problems we have is connectivity of our ethernet cables. We have an IT room with 2 switches that feed ethernet cables to all parts of the house and connect to an ethernet box in the wall where we can simply wire in our internet connection. We have wireless routers too but to keep the bandwidth usage across the WAP's I want to let people use the wired connections. However, many of the connection in the house do not work at all. I plug in my laptop to the wall jack and it gives me the No Internet Access notice. I don't understand why it works in some rooms and not others. All jacks seem to go into the same switches at the other end so I cannot figure out what the problem could be.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup a DVR camera system and two web page server boxes behind a Linksys WRT54GL. The problem I have is that all of the devices want to use port 80 to generate the web page. Individually, I can get the boxes to work, but when I try to put it all together everything seems to fall apart. I've got to the DVR set to External port 80, Internal Port 80 IP address 192.168.1.254. The web page server box I try to set to External port 8001, Internal port 80, IP address 192.168.1.200, when I try to save this setting I get the error message Internet IP address and LAN IP address are in the same subnet. If I change the web page server settings to External port 8001, Internal port 8001, IP address 192.168.1.200, it will save the settings, but it won't work that way because it won't actually generate a web page when I try to access that port.The error message doesn't seem to make since as all I'm changing is the port number, not the IP address or subnet mask.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT610N wireless system with WPA-PSK security and this works fine with several computers but now one computer detects the wireless security as WEP and can thus not connect to the router. I have tried to manually connect to the router with correct security WPA-Personal (TKIP) and correct password but then the computer says "settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".How can I get the computer to detect the correct security? The computer is running Windows 7 home premium.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the e4200 the other day and everything has been great except I can't seem to get my ABS megacam 4 ethernet camera to work.It was working fine with my old router, and if I plug directly into it it works, but I can't access it through the router at all. I can see the camera in my routers client list, the camera is set to DHCP and it is assigning it an IP address but I can't connect to it. From my desktop pc (wired) I can using the IPwizard software that came with the camera and it will see the camera on the network but it wont connect to it, my wireless clients can't even see the camera using the same software.

I've tried resetting the router & modem (powering down & waiting from 1-5 minutes), and my router just won't read the port that I've plugged the security system ethernet cable into.I think the problem is my firewall but I don't know how to set it to allow the router to read the port that I've plugged into, or it could be the firewall that my anti-wirus has or possibly both.My equipment is Comcast cable, router (as noted above) and a D-Link DCM-202 modem, Windows XP 3, and Norton anti-virus. Now I also have my phone through Comcast and it has it's own modem.

According to the vendor, we should only need ports 81 and 2000 forwarded to the internal DVR on both TCP and UDP. They really aren't much troubleshoot the network config.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI keep getting a pop-up message from my firewall ( Sygate personal -free ) telling me that NT Kernel and system has been blocked. I checked the box to say don't show this message again, it still shows it every time. minutes in between. It freezes my pc and screws up any typing i'm doing at the time. According to the application list it is checked to allow and running.It is not listed in Task Manager.

Belkin support ask for the unit to be reset to factory settings which is done and the Security system re-enabled again. Valid MAC Addresses start to be added and midway a PC is discovered in the Network without its MAC address added. Closer scrutiny reveals that another unknown device has also found a way into the router and that the 'Block' option on the MAC list is also failing to work. Anyone think of what one should do with this security shambles other than turn the thing off quick?

The real question I have is what is the easiest way to access any camera via a browser from a remote location. Years ago tech friend assisted me access my DCS-910 using dyndns.org. It was free and worked great. I guess it went away when they started charging for a basic account.
Is there an easy way to access a camera without using dyndns even if it involves putting in an IP address instead of a convenient domain name? I would just like to see at least one of my cameras in a browser off-site. If I have to pay $20/year for dyndns I can but I would prefer not to if possible.
When I vacation in Florida my neigbour across the street gives me her wep key so I can use her internet. I have to sit by the window in order to get a signal. I purchased the range extender and set it up with her ssid and wep key I ran cat5 from that into the house. If i use the cat5 on a laptop it works fine. When I run the cat5 to a linksys router and use wireless it fails I can connet to the wirless router but no internet.

From that computer, by use of a router (of course), I have a wireless connection to another desktop computer in my home, about 90 feet away.From that remote wireless internet broadband connection, I'd like to connect to yet a third computer. That third computer will be 200 more feet away. I have a direct Cat5 wire from the wireless computer desktop to that point 200 feet away. I'm thinking of adding a computer at that point.So, that raises my question: Can a computer receiving a wireless signal, then relay or transmit that signal to another computer that is "hard wired" to it via a Cat5 wire?

Connection through LAN is fine into desktop however the minute we try to connect an additional wireless router the connection fails. We have even put the LAN from the second Wireless into the desktop and there is no connectivity.We have had a technician come to sort the problem, they advise that they have no explanation as to why the LAN works from the distance but the wireless does not. They have suggested that we need to cut the CAT5 half way and put an antenna up to connect the two routers.
