'Use Unicasting' is selected by default in the Dynamic IP (DHCP) connection type.I turned it off based upon the router's support text since the router gets an IP address from my cable modem.I don't understand this option at all. I've searched for data on the topic and I can't make sense of it.I think I made the correct selection by un-selecting 'Use Unicasting.'

I have some older devices on the network that only support RADIUS (not TACACS) for authentication and would like to have them use SecureACS 5.3
I understand that by default, ACS only supports TACACS for device administration. So I'll get this error when trying RADIUS:
11033 Selected Service type is not Network Access
Description:
RADIUS requests can only be processed by Access Services that are of type Network Access
Resolution Text: Verify that the Service Selection Policy rules are correct
However, even after adjusting the Service Selection rules and seeing hits, I still see the same message in the logs, as if it has no affect.
I recently noticed my 'Number of Dynamic DHCP Clients' on Network Settings is always empty. Before, it always registered a list since there are several devices that are connected to our wireless network (laptops, mobile phones, desktops).

Now when I go to change the connection type to dynamic ip and save, it reverts back to static ip, which makes this thing useless for my network. Why won't it save?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo network was running fine for about a year or so. Network consists of 1 Motorola SB6120 cable modem attached to a D-Link DIR-601 wireless router. All settings were default except for SSID and WPA password. One day I just couldn't access internet anymore. I've narrowed it down to the default gateway that is being given out through DHCP. The default gateway that is being given out is the IP of the modem (192.168.100.1) and not of the Router (192.168.0.1). I can't find any option on Wireless router to be able to force the gateway address when handing out the gateway IP. Theoretically I thought I should be able to put router on same subnet as modem as 192.168.100.2 but that still doesn't work. If I set the IP adresses statically on the PCs and give it the Gateway of the Router everything works fine. I should mention this is for my boss' house and basically I dont want him calling me everytime he has a friend come over and I have to talk em through setting up a Static IP.
And just for an example this is what I get if I use DHCP:
IP Address: 192.168.0.155
Mask: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 192.168.0.1
Default Gateway: 192.168.100.1
And If I want it to work I have to change the default gateway to 192.168.0.1 I've tried updating routers firmware and reset to factory default numerous times. Is it possible for a router DHCP stop working?

I have a compatibility problem with the 3G USB Modem ONDA MT191UP with 3220 V2 updated with the firmware 120822 uploaded on TPLINK web site . Every thing is ok , the wireless is created , but the internet connection is missing . The router does not show the USB led , and it remain always in "connecting" but nothing happen . Do you have some infor to be compatible this USB modem ( some firmware , some Bin file etc..) ?I checked the Huawei E1800 and it works perfectly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded our WLC from 4.0 to 7.0 (via 4.2). Before the upgrade we had our ACS returning a VLAN based on user group. This seemed to be working without an issue. Now that the WLC is on version 7 this is no longer working correctly. The ACS is returning a VLAN and passing the user but the client can not get an IP from the DHCP server configured.
Example configuration:
SSID-----VLAN
PN-CSC-----CSCVlan: Works
PN-Others------OthersVlan: Works
PN-Others-----CSCVlan: No DHCP
When users are trying to be allocated to a vlan that is different from the native one the DHCP fails however both WLANs are configured to point to the management interface so dont have any real connection to the vlan other than by name.
Have there been any changes I haven't seen in the way the dynamic vlan allocation works in version 7?

I have been using the subject Wireless Router for more than 2 years. Most of the time it worked OK but lately it has been giving issues. [code] Due to a recent power outage, I had to reset the setting on the Dlink router. One of the issue is after resetting the Internet options and rebooting the router when I go back to the system screen, both the Release and Renew buttons are greyed out.I have tried to reboot the router as well as cable modem without any success. 1) Adapter 1: Host-only adapter + Adapter 2: NAT; I've been trying to get it to work for a while now, but I cant; here is some info: VirtualBox Configuration (no IP for the guest? I've seen it there before though, so there might be a way to do that)

I have the dhcp server setup and working on our main 3560x.
The only problem is that it is not assigning the dhcp clients a default gateway.
I was not able to find it in the Cisco documentation and a google search is not useful either.

i just bought an antenna for my new tl-mr3220 v2 router that is 9db. my current one is he 5db that was supplied together wit the unit. then when i installed the new antenna, instead of an increase in the range it lower than my old one. is there any specific antenna or type that you can use? if so what types of antennas?
I have been having this problem randomly on and off the last week or so. If I type facebook in any of my browsers it comes back with the connection has been reset. If I use hidemyass I can get onto facebook though. My partner is having the same problem. I haven't got a firewall blocking facebook and it works sometimes and other times it doesn't so I am unsure what the problem is.

My network topology is as follows:
Internet <-> Residential Gateway (RG) from ISP (OEM: Pace) [192.168.1.254/255.255.255.0] <-> RV180 [192.168.1.253/255.255.255.0] <-> SG500 switch [192.168.1.250/255.255.255.0] <-> rest of network.
I know this is a cascading LAN-to-LAN arrangement. The cable from the RG to the RV180 is from a LAN port on the RG to a LAN (not WAN) port on the RV180.
I eventually want to segment my network into a few VLANs from the RV180 down. I am aware most people would recommend DHCP on the "primary" router, but the RG is non-VLAN aware, so I figure I need to handle the DHCP off the RV180. At the same time, I have also opted not to do a LAN-to-WAN cascade because I want to retain the ability to configure the RG from the rest of the network and not have to cart a computer over to the RG to do it.
On the RG, I've disabled DHCP, and placed 192.168.1.253 in the DMZ.
On the RV180, I've enabled DHCP and put it in Router mode.
The issue is that I do not have any Internet connectivity. If I allow the computers in the network to receive IP addresses over DHCP, the default gateway that is communicated is 192.168.1.253, which is the RV180. If I configure static IPv4 information on my computers to point to 192.168.1.254, I am able to connect outside, as you would expect.
How can I get the RV180 to pass out DHCP IP addresses, but point to 192.168.1.254 as the default gateway? I thought the solution might be to create a default route (or something). I went to the static routes tab but it wouldn't let me enter 0.0.0.0 as a destination IP to route through 192.168.1.254.
Further down the line, is it possible for both the RG and the RV180 to connect directly to the SG500, along with the other nodes in my network? That way the RV180 only serves to maintain the VLANs and pass out IP addresses via DHCP, instead of having it be the choke through which everything goes through on the way out?
I have a Cisco ASA 5500 as the main router with a DIR-655 as a wireless access point behind it. DHCP is turned off on the 655 as the ASA is providing DHCP. This worked great for about a year and now suddenly, without any changes, I'm having problems. The only thing that connects without a problem is a laptop, which shows up on the device list with an IP. Other devices have problems. iPhones connect, show an IP on the device itself, but when listed in the connected list on the 655 show no IP. The connection is super slow. An Airport Express will connect, but again, shows no IP in the connected list on the 655. Using the ethernet cable from the Airport Express, nothing can get an IP. I can live with the iPhone not connecting, but the Airport Express not connecting is a major problem. Any reason why this would just stop working one day?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a RV042 router. The problem that I am having with it is that the DHCP is giving out the wrong Default Gateway and DNS Server. There is no option to change the DHCP server IP on any of the settings pages on the router. I am begining to think that there might not be a way to do it. I see that there is an option for the DNS under the DHCP page but the Public IP that is being handed out is not the one on that page. I also have 2 WAN connections hooked up as well a DSL link and a Cable link (the cable link is the primary one).
The following information is provided in an effort to resolve this issue:

That's a wonderful router on the paper! Really it has some problems with the wireless connection and the dhcp server. After 2 days of i must forced to reset the router because it refuse any wireless connection while the internet browsing on the other pc connected via ethernet ARJ45 is very slow.To complete the scenario the router doesn't allow any acces to his console page ..so what's the problem?

I have no problem to configure DHCP server on BVI 1 and VLAN 1 ( native VLAN ) interfaces, but there is a problem with other BVI's and VLANs. Maybe this feature isn't supported? Maybe DHCP server feature is supported to work just with default BVI and native VLAN?
I have the dir-601 as my main router. Its IP settings are dynamic, not static. My second router, the router I'd like to use as the access point is a Belkin Wireless G Mimo. My goal is to setup the Belkin as an access point downstairs away from the main router. I'd like to do this wirelessly. I'd like to phsycialy plug devices into the Belkin, while the Belkin receives access to the internet wirelessly from my main router, the dir-601.
Here's my issue. There's an easy option to use the Belkin as an access point. So I do this and set the Belkin router to an IP outside the DCHP range ( currently 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199 ) to 192.168.0.250. My dir-601 will only recognize the Belkin access point while plugged in physically. I know this because when I did a ping test it only see's the Belkin when plugged into the dir-601 via ethernet cables. My ultimate goal is to simply set the dlink dir-601 to recognize the Belkin as an access point.
I'm having a very difficult time getting my WRT54GS to work with my Westell 6100 modem. I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.

We just purchased the WRVS4400N router with high hopes. For some reason, our ISP provides a connection through L2TP Dynamic for a static IP. I repeat, L2TP Dynamic. Is there anyway to properly configure the router to use such a connection method. I only see L2TP Static, which seems to be the standard method for many routers.

I recently bought your router and I am trying to install it.The problem that I get is that when the router tries to get the dynamic IP from my provider, it gets nothing.I have typed in the DNS servers but no go. Without the router, my uplink works fine. The provider does not lock onto a specific MAC adress.

And when you refresh the list, the network still shows up there.It seems that it will only connect to Routers which use WEP security and not ones which use WPA. I have looked on the Toshiba site for the Wireless Drivers to see if there is any updated ones and used the Driver Update Utility on Intel's download site and that tells me that the latest wireless driver is installed.
