Trying to add my Toshiba Laptop to my already exsiting D-Link 524 wireless router. However whenever I try to change my DCHP to enable, it won't save the changes. I have tried both the Dynamic and Static IP Address, and it will say saving changes, but when I return, all changes are gone. On the cmd prompt when I type in ipconfig /all it lists DCHP enabled.

or a better solution would be is there a way to apply port forwarding globally on belkin routers?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT110 and a Vizio smart TV - just changed internet providers to NuLink to get a Mbps line - previously had AT&T DSL 1.5 - when tech power cycled router every laptop and smartphone in the house connected with no issue - TV did not connect (it was on during time tech was doing install) - attempted to connect with password, failed to connect multiple times - sometimes message 'DCHP connection not available' message was displayed - called Vizio, 1 hour and 9 minutes of troubleshooting with no success, according to Vizio tech all settings on TV good recommended I contact Lynksys and ask them to ' check 2 ports - port 80 and port 446' - also advise 'connection is autopopulating to 101' - I believe he was referring to the IP address request - router set to WPA2 personal - note that when I first got TV 3 months ago I was able to connect to router no problem, but I do not know if TV had connection the day we switched internet providers. I do have 2 fixed IP addresses entered an one of them ends in '101' - I do not know if that is significant or not. The main reason for the internet switch was to get the TV online, disappointed that I could not get it done.

I installed wireless controller with 4 APs and controllers sees all 4 APs. Controller is also DCHP server. When wireless client authenticates it's DCHP requests in not getting to DHCP server (controller). If i connect all equipment in non managed switch everything works.

Recently we've had one or two faults with misconfigured or faulty devices (blade server chassis and also printers) generating high volumes of dhcp discover packets and causing high cpu on the relevant 6500. I would like to rate limit these discover packets, which are layer 2 broadcasts. Storm control can't discriminate between different types of broadcasts and on a gig link would need to be set down at about 1% to have much effect on the problem. I've looked at CoPP and also mls hardware rate-limiting but as I understand it, these two features don't control broadcast traffic. I also looked at dhcp snooping but if an interface receives a high level of dhcp discover broadcasts, e.g. over 100pps, I don't want it to go error-disabled (as this would knock down the whole edge switch), just to drop the excess packets.

However, I've recently had a few problems that only a full power down would fix. In addition, I've noticed that the DCHP client table doesn't reset when I do a soft reboot. Is this intentional? Is the soft reboot not really a full reboot? Can it be made a real reboot?

I have a HP G62 laptop with windows 7 and a Atheros AR9285 wifi adapter. The Wireless Assistant shows the WLAN as disabled. In the device manager, the adapter is listed as enabled. When I push the F12 key that turns on and off the wireless, the wireless assistant alternates between showing the WLAN as Off or Disabled. I tried disabling the adapter and re-enabling it from the device manager, but the wireless assistant still shows it as disabled.

Last month, my sister brought her laptop over and, for some unknown reason, choose "set up a connection or network" and unknowingly changed the setup to a security enabled network. I have no idea why she couldn't just log on without any problem. She has the same modem at her house, and I have no problem logging on at her house. Anyway, it now asks for a password, and she swears she never entered one. I can go online if I plug in an ethernet cord but that means my laptop can only go online at my desk. And I cannot use the internet features on my ipod touch. Is there a way to reset the modem back to a regular unsecured setup?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had it working fine up until i decided to install a new harddrive on my xp pro machine. but to the point, when i connect to the 3g card its fine, but if i try to enable the lan at the same time it disconnects my 3g card. my problem isnt how to network two computers, its how to get lan and a usb modem working simultaneously. i have tried to enable ics, then reboot. same results. if i can get the lan to stay on while the 3g card is on i have the rest whooped.it is some kind of setting somewhere. maybe i need to install windows 2003 server or something like that.

I did troubleshoot and it fixed itself but it done it again minutes later and simple said a cable was disconnected. I restarted the laptop and it came on fine but it disconnected again and has not worked since. I have gone into the wireless connection settings and it says wireless isn't enabled. The 2 wireless are used for internet access and the hardwired is for my LAN through my router. The wireless connections are throught ATT mobile devices. I use my lan to share files through PC in my household and it has no internet access. The problem is that whenever I have all 3 of these connections connected windows always sees the hardwire connection as internet access so I can't use the internet even if my 2 other wireless connections are enabled. However, If I disable the Local area network connections and the leave 2 wireless connections enabled I have internet again.is there a way to just make windows use the hardwired connection as local and use the wireless connections for internet?

I checked my advanced setting and dhcp auto obtain is enabled. When I try to release and renew ipconfig the addresses are missing and when I renew, it's completely missing.

I try to setup a network where both interfaces in my laptop are enabled. One is a wifi interface, the other is LAN. The machine only stays off off for 5-10 seconds at a time. I think this is because instead of waking from only a magic packet, it is waking from ANY packet.
My Toshiba laptop running Vista as an operating connects just fine to the wireless network at my house. However, I will soon be house-sitting at a house that also has security-enabled wireless available. I connect just fine at my house, but whenever I put in the password at their house it says that that it cannot connect because of a timeout. I can't figure out what the problem is, because I recently went to the public library that has wifi and got on just fine. why in the world it will not connect to this specific wireless router??
