One of the many things that I liked about the e4200 over my olg 54GL was the fact that I could reboot it remotely. However, I've recently had a few problems that only a full power down would fix. In addition, I've noticed that the DCHP client table doesn't reset when I do a soft reboot. Is this intentional? Is the soft reboot not really a full reboot? Can it be made a real reboot?
View 7 RepliesI just purchased an E4200 router. I have four clients on my network and they are all set up for DHCP. I renewed their IPs and they all are connected. "Cisco Connect" reports that I have four clients connected. When I access the router and bring up the DHCP Client Table, there are no entries. There should be four entries. Aftern I enable the logging function, none of the logs have any data in them even after I wait for 45 minutes and use the internet and renew IPs. I am using Firmware Version: 1.0.03. I have the same results for both Chrome and Firefox. I want to be able to set Static IPs but I am hampered by the not having any clients in the DHCP client table.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got an EA3500 and I guess I don't understand what "Refresh" does when viewing the DHCP client table under the "Status", "Local Network" tab of the web interface, either that or it's not working. If I have active wired and wireless clients and I power off the EA3500, wait a few minutes, then power it back on, the table is blank. If I hit "Refresh" I would expect it to re-populate the table with the connected clients. For whatever reason, it doesn't. I have to physically disconnect and reconnect the E-net cable, or power cycle the wireless client to get them to reappear in the table. Is something wrong with the router or its s/w

If I can't access the internet I will check the DHCP client table under Status -> Local Network -> DHCP Client Table and it is always empty.After I select Setup -> Reboot it will work again - when I look at the DHCP client table it is now populated with all my devices. I am on firmware version 2.0.37.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have DHCP enabled, but I have assigned a static IP to most of my network devices.When I click on the DHCP Client Table, most of the devices are NOT shown even though I know they are connected and working.One device (a Brother printer) that I have assigned a static IP to actually shows up as having an IP from the DHCP range. A Panasonic TV does not show up at all even though it is connected and woking. I have not been able to assign a static IP to it because it does not show up.

In the DHCP table for my E4200 I don't see those. I have no problem accessing them typing in those IP addresses but wondering why they don't show up in the table.Actually looking at it more closely, the devices hooked up that are active seem to show up.So I see the following below. And where is list LAN but no name those seem to be devices connected to the media bridges.

They all run Windows 7 Home Premium. After a few hours I started to notice that the DHCP client table is empty even if all four PCs are connected to the internet. This causes a networking problem because one of the PC serves as a file server and it grants access by IP addresses. Not being able to "see" those computers, my access is denied.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore nearly four years we have purchased 4 Cisco ASA 5500 Device for our organization.Out of these four device currently two are active in field and other two we kept as a spare.Now, in one active device we are facing very rare and strange issue.
The device automatically soft reboot once in nearly 60 days and we do not have any pre or post symptoms of this incident only server logs providing us this information.The device itself located in very controlled environment in a data center where physical tampering or temperature waviness is not possible.
We also asked one Cisco Expert from data center but still issue is not solved.Before two month, using remote syslog service we also started log redirection to a server so that when such incident occurs we have something to analyze but it is worthless log has nothing to tell us.

I just bought an E4200 and it was working perfectly, very easy to install, all that it promises. Then I had an energy peak. For some reason, don't ask me why, I did RESET the router not thru the web nor thru Cisco Connect, but pushing the reset button at the back. I can't access the router anymore ! It keeps asking for a password that is never accepted. I have uninstalled cisco connect and tried again. Nothing. The router is not found. Keeps asking for a password. I tried everything: blan+admin, admin+admin, the password I used to have (provided at the cisco connect uninstall).It seems that the RESET never worked. The router is working thru cables, meaning when I can connect to the internet wired. But the router is never found wireless.How could I update the firmware if the router is not recognized (or if I don't have a username+password) ?

After then, I could not access the router via browser with 192.168.1.1 at URL entry. My PC IPv4 setup: 192.168.1.11; subnet=255.255.255.0.But, ping 192.168.1.1 from PC was OK without packet loss. When a device does not pass a client name garbage is entered as the name of the client name.The first is that when you use the Web Admin pages, and select Status/Local Network/DHCP Clients, the table will not display any clients because there is an error on the page. If you right click and View Source from the browser, you will see all the client entries are there and one of them will have garbage (unprintable characters) for the client name.The second and more serious issue is that the internal DHCP table once corrupt is unstable. I've had my BEFSR41 reboot because of the corruption and then I get IP conflicts on my LAN because the DHCP starts handing out in-use IPs.I'm on hardware version 4.3 and the latest firmware Ver.2.00.4 Build 8 (which is very difficult to install without bricking the router). I now have the same issues with disconnects but I believe they are being caused by a different issue. When I try and log into my router through the IP address it wont let me, it says it can't find the router. Eventually after getting in the first time by using the default password, I have twice found out that all my settings are gone. This has happened twice this week and only happened after upgrading the firmware but I can not tell if firmware is causing it or if it is hardware related. I now reboot and restore saved firmware but that is a hassle and am pretty sure that is not the way it was designed to work.

I have an E4200 and I can not get WoL to work over the internet.(I'm assuming it's not actually going out to the internet when I wirelessly wake it using shawn.dynamicservice.com and the subnet, but rather the DDNS name is being resolved through the ARP cache, but I don't know. I'm still learning) Consequently, if the sentence above in parenthesis is correct, I am unable to perform WoL from outside my LAN. What am I missing?

Only problem is that everytime I bridge the modem and hook my E4200 up, I cannot connect to the internet. In recent months, the E4200's in two branches have occasionally gone into a state where they are not always providing an IP address to both wired and wireless devices. Some devices will get an IP fine and others will not, The problem seems to move and the next day the same device will connect fine and others will not. A reset of the router usually clears the problem but it is becoming more frequent and bothersome. For some reason only two locations are effected.
Some notes:
- Firmware version is 1.0.02 build 13
- When I set devices up with static IP's they work fine, so the problem seems to be related to the DHCP service
- The WAN side of the network tests fine with no issues
- I've had these routers deployed for over a year and this problem just started in the past two months
- Routers and AP's are on different channels to prevent interference
- No nearby WiFi signals appear to be casuing any interference
I've assigned an ip address to my htpc using dhcp reservation. On my old router I could use the client name, for instance: ssh name@clientName Instead of: ssh name@ipAddress Currently I cannot do this with the stock cisco firmware (unless I'm mistaken). Is there something I have to do to get it working? Or do I have to resort to tomatoUSB/WRT.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT110 and a Vizio smart TV - just changed internet providers to NuLink to get a Mbps line - previously had AT&T DSL 1.5 - when tech power cycled router every laptop and smartphone in the house connected with no issue - TV did not connect (it was on during time tech was doing install) - attempted to connect with password, failed to connect multiple times - sometimes message 'DCHP connection not available' message was displayed - called Vizio, 1 hour and 9 minutes of troubleshooting with no success, according to Vizio tech all settings on TV good recommended I contact Lynksys and ask them to ' check 2 ports - port 80 and port 446' - also advise 'connection is autopopulating to 101' - I believe he was referring to the IP address request - router set to WPA2 personal - note that when I first got TV 3 months ago I was able to connect to router no problem, but I do not know if TV had connection the day we switched internet providers. I do have 2 fixed IP addresses entered an one of them ends in '101' - I do not know if that is significant or not. The main reason for the internet switch was to get the TV online, disappointed that I could not get it done.

The first one (which has cable-modem connection) is the brand new E4200, and the second one is the old WRT54GCv3.[code] However, the WRT54GCv3 doesn't get the IP address from the E4200's DHCP. I've also tried to connect them directly (without the PLC), even specifing an static IP on the second router, but I got the same results.I've to state I don't want to change the first router IP/gateway parameters because I have a web and game home server working with an static IP and I don't want to put it offline temporarily because of readjusting network parameters.

They are all in bridged mode, however when I attempt to enable the guest network on each of them, the config shows it as active, but it never shows up as visiible SSID. In previous posts, I've seen people saying that I need to do a complete hard reset of the router and re-enter all the configs again to get the guest network active. Is this true? I'd hate to think that I have to hard reset and reconfigure all three of these APs, just to get the guest network enabled.
