One of the persons in our company wants to have a phone at his home....(not Cisco) as well as connectivity to servers and other resources at our office. There's talk of using an existing RV042 our office and placing another at the person's home. The office has a static IP address from our ISP, but at the person's home, it will be DHCP from the ISP.

I found a thread on tech and it looks like there's a case open for the issue. url... How to get this working other than assigning IPs for the phones and dealing with different ports.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed four Cisco RV042 v3 VPN routers for a customer of ours to replace existing Nortel Contivity 1010 devices which were providing VPN tunnels from the customer's 3 branches to their headoffice. The original Nortel devices were working perfectly but the customer wanted some firewall rule changes and the Nortels were proving to be somewhat inflexible and incomprehensible in their configuration hence why they were replaced.
When installing the Cisco routers I configured the VPN settings to match the Nortel device settings so that I could swap out a branch at a time without taking the whole setup down for a day.The customer has a Unix based dumb-terminal application running on a server at headoffice that they access from their branches using terminal emulators on Windows PCs and thin client hardware devices that support vt100 terminal emulation.
Prior to installing the Cisco RV042's everything was working fine. Now they are using the RV042's they keep getting the sessions from their branches dropped. Both PC users and thin client users are losing sessions and it happens with active and idle sessions. I have checked the logs on the routers when users are disconnected and there is nothing logged at that time (other than my login)... I had thought maybe it was to do with tunnel renegotioations so I have set to phase 1 / phase 2 SA timeouts to 86400 & 28800 seconds respectively but this has had no effect. I had also seen somebody advised disabling 'SPI' in the firewall... I have tried this and it makes no difference.
why QuickVPN clients can only reach RV042's LAN Network and not able to access subnet 1 remotely, however PPTP clients can access both..

I have two sites setup with a gateway to gateway VPN. Both gateways are RV042s. I have a resource on Site B ( a VoIP Phone Switch) that needs to be accessed thru Site A.Question: Does the RV042s support port forwarding thru the VPN tunnel?I have configured a port forward on Site A's router and the router's firewall log at Site A shows that connections are being accepted, but a packet capture at Site B in front of the switch does not contain a data stream. To answer the obvious question, I can not control the path that data is being sent so I would not be able to redirect the data stream to Site B from the source.

The first router (gateway) LAN IP will be 192.168.0.1/24.I would also like to set up another router behind the gateway with with separate subnet 192.168.1.X/24. And I would like clients on the 192.168.1.x subnet to use the internet through the gateway router and clients on the 192.168.0.x subnet to access resources on the 192.168.1.x subnet. Am I able to do this with two RV042?

I have tried both the Dynamic and Static IP Address, and it will say saving changes, but when I return, all changes are gone. On the cmd prompt when I type in ipconfig /all it lists DCHP enabled.

I installed wireless controller with 4 APs and controllers sees all 4 APs. Controller is also DCHP server. When wireless client authenticates it's DCHP requests in not getting to DHCP server (controller). If i connect all equipment in non managed switch everything works.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWe have a number of 6509s which generally have dhcp relay agents configured on the SVIs. The dhcp servers are centralised. Recently we've had one or two faults with misconfigured or faulty devices (blade server chassis and also printers) generating high volumes of dhcp discover packets and causing high cpu on the relevant 6500. I would like to rate limit these discover packets, which are layer 2 broadcasts. Storm control can't discriminate between different types of broadcasts and on a gig link would need to be set down at about 1% to have much effect on the problem. I've looked at CoPP and also mls hardware rate-limiting but as I understand it, these two features don't control broadcast traffic. I also looked at dhcp snooping but if an interface receives a high level of dhcp discover broadcasts, e.g. over 100pps, I don't want it to go error-disabled (as this would knock down the whole edge switch), just to drop the excess packets.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT110 and a Vizio smart TV - just changed internet providers to NuLink to get a Mbps line - previously had AT&T DSL 1.5 - when tech power cycled router every laptop and smartphone in the house connected with no issue - TV did not connect (it was on during time tech was doing install) - attempted to connect with password, failed to connect multiple times - sometimes message 'DCHP connection not available' message was displayed - called Vizio, 1 hour and 9 minutes of troubleshooting with no success, according to Vizio tech all settings on TV good recommended I contact Lynksys and ask them to ' check 2 ports - port 80 and port 446' - also advise 'connection is autopopulating to 101' - I believe he was referring to the IP address request - router set to WPA2 personal - note that when I first got TV 3 months ago I was able to connect to router no problem, but I do not know if TV had connection the day we switched internet providers. I do have 2 fixed IP addresses entered an one of them ends in '101' - I do not know if that is significant or not. The main reason for the internet switch was to get the TV online, disappointed that I could not get it done.

However, I've recently had a few problems that only a full power down would fix. In addition, I've noticed that the DCHP client table doesn't reset when I do a soft reboot. Is this intentional? Is the soft reboot not really a full reboot? Can it be made a real reboot?

To do this we are using a standard modem/router that is connected to an Engenius (802.11b/g) wireless outdoor radio connected to a dish antenna. We are able to go to locations (3+km) and then with a corresponding receiving antenna (using LoS), receive the Internet and connect both to computers at the transmitting point as well as to the WWW. The problem exists is that we want to employ a series of routers at the receiving end that would be able to carry the transmission to a different location (relatively close), due to the fact that some of the locations do not have line of sight to the antennas. We are using Encore routers, model # ENHWI-N3. When we connect the radio's Ethernet into the routers WAN reciever, we can connect to the Internet with a computer. The problem exists is we want to pass that connection over to a second router (R2). This connection is done when the routers are on access points set to a WDS function with R1 having R2's mac address and vice versa. Both routers are set to channel 1. Even when the routers are seperated by distances >50m a computer plugged into R2 can see a computer plugged into R1. Files can be transferred between the 2 computers wirelessly at speed around 3 mbps. However computer 2 on R2 can not connect to the WWW. This router features a spot that lights up if it has Internet access and R1's is lit up but R2's is not. How do we transfer the Internet and not just a LAN from R1 to R2 so it can be accessed further away from the point of the radio and antenna equipment. This setup has also been used where R2 is hardwired to R3. At R3 we change the channel to 11, and then connect through that with mac addresses wirelessly to 4th router. If comp is in R4 and far away it can still access and file share from comp at R1.*edit the ip address for the routers exist all on 192.168.1.xxx If the 3rd number is different between routers would this make a difference?

One of the router is a V2 and the other is a V4 if that makes any difference.
The first router is wired to the DSL modem and works just fine as an access point with Internet access. The second router is wired from the first router using one of the 4 ports on both router hubs. The second router is visible but has no Internet. How to configure the second router regarding DHCP, LAN, WAN, DNS etc.
