I have a Dell Inspiron 1720, that uses a 1300 wireless lan, that keeps crashing. Is there a fix for this, can I replace it with another wireless lan card? Whenever I first start the computer, I would get the error message saying your wireless card had stopped working.
View 4 RepliesMy wife has a Dell Inspiron 1300 which crashed. I was able to start it again using the Dell Operating System Reinstallation CD for XP Professional but the wifi (wireless) does not work. Before the crash it had a working wireless connection. It appears that I need to reinstall a driver for it. How can I get a driver when I have no internet connection on that computer? I have tried loading on a flash driver from another computer, but it doesn't seem to transfer. What driver do I need and how can I get it to install on her computer?

If you have enabled another prog. to manage this connection use that software. Then it says ifI want windows to config., start WZC service. I am a novice and don't understand any of this. I don't think I have done anything to enable another prog to manage the connection. I have tried reloading isp disc and making new network connection but to no avail. the little network logo has a red x constantly.

It was running really slowly, and still is, so I cleaned the registry, defragmented, all sorts of things, I also started to download updated drivers for the system. Since I downloaded the broadcom update my wireless has been utterly useless, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting by itself, its really annoying. I guessed it could be the laptop not liking the update so i uninstalled it, but it still has the same problem.
We have other laptops and devices connected to the wireless so it's not that. oh! by the way here are any laptop details you might need.

If I connect the cable modem to my (linksys WRT54GS) wireless router, and then connect my laptop to a wired port in the router, it connects in seconds, successfully, This has happened to me 2 other times, when I tried to connect my laptop to a client's cable modem, because my client did not have a wireless router available, in their home. My wireless works fine. This has me perplexed. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and NetworkManager Applet 0.8, I've tried some things to see what is going on, such as "ifconfig" "dhclient" as well as modifying the "Auto eth0" parameters and adding my laptop's MAC address, etc.

The same BT GPS unit works perfectly on a D610 but on this D600 after initial connection there can be repeated connection loss requring the BT GPS unit to be moved around, after which BT connection is re-established only to fail a while later. As the same GPS works without problem with the D610 my presumption has been the issue is a BT stack issue on the D600 BT implementation.

It has been working perfectly fine with no issues whatsoever up until two days ago when suddenly our wireless network disappeared from the available networks. We have all the updated firmware. Originally we tried setting up a new network, that worked for about 20 hours before the network crashed again. Once it had crashed that time, I was just planning to wait it out until my husband got home so he could assist me with it but before he arrived him the network mysteriously reappeared. That night it once again disappeared. The following morning it was still lost, so I reset the router to the factory settings using the button on the back, and once my computer detected it router again I once again set up a new network. That worked and my connection was fine for about 12 hours this time before it once again crashed. I brought my laptop to connect it to the internet via the cable, and after when I disconnected it to leave the room the wireless was back up again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have two Cisco 1300's acting as bridges only. I have created an infrastructure ssid on VLAN 2 and assigned this to the radio. I am carrying multiple VLANs between the bridges (using subinterfaces on the fastethernet and radio ports).I have enabled WPA-PSK, but how do I check that this is being used between the bridges? Also - I have a switch connected at each end of the bridge. When I make VTP changes, the remote switch does not pick these up - is this because VTP goes over VLAN1 regardless of the Native VLAN (2 in my case)? Do I have to carry VLAN1 over the bridge to get VTP working, or is there an alternative solution?

Then its Blue Screen of Death and no joy. If I turn off the modem, the HTPC boots up perfectly normally. Turn the modem on and as soon as I try to recognise the home network, it crashes again.
View 2 Replies View Relatedno changes except switched out old steady wrt45g router cabled to different computer for a new (crazy good price) asus n66 dark knight. stable old system after clean install xpsp3 several years ago. abruptly started crashing and endless rebooting any time wusb54g attached. no antivirus active. never had linksys monitor software installed. xp had handled everything well till now. repeated attempts to re-install drivers (rt25000usb) fail. occasionally xp sees "new hardware" and occasionally it simply immediately crashes. attempted install of ?failing? usb54gv4 onto much newer W7 machine to try to test hardware w/o success. linksys AE1000 usb adapter worked on W7 machine and also installed successfully on the old steady XP machine in question.

Everything is connected via the router (one wired computer, up to a max of 5 laptops but just 2-3 on a regular basis, a wired xbox360, wireless wii and a few cell phones occasionally connect wirelessly). Everything has been working great, been getting at or very close to the 6mbps we are supposed to be getting...until the past 2 weeks. Suddenly the connection drops repeatedly throughout the night. It either shows local only or just "limited connectivity". Normally when this happens my laptop will pick the signal back up when things are normal but I am actually having to disconnect and reconnect for it to work again. It happens again in about 30 min to an hour after that. Also, our connection speeds are showing at .5 - 1.5 instead of 6. I plugged the cable modem (the 660 series sent out by sprint/embarq/century link (or whatever name they are going by today lol) into the computer directly and got 5.7mbps. I have tried power cycles of both pieces of equipment but that doesnt work.

I bought a E1200 and have it hooked up to my Comcast internet.. When I have my computer hooked up directly to the modem I get a 30mbps download speed. When I connect it to my router the download speed crashes to about .5-.75mbps.. My upload stays pretty stable at around 6-7mbps.

We have several of these bridges hanging around; would like to move them one at a time from our 1030WLSE to our 5508WLC (software 7.0.235, so they're compatible).The bridges are all connected to power injectors (AIR-PWRINJ-BLR2). With our 1200's, we apparently just unplug power, hold mode button, plug in power, release mode after about 4 seconds, and they find the new controller (I haven't tried it yet to confirm, but that's what Google...err...Cisco...says will work!). But obviously there's no "mode" or reset button on either the power injector or the bridge itself.
(Other than "shut down the old controller and the bridges and APs will find the new controller". I'll do that at some point, but want to test first with some spare bridges / APs.)
Is it possible to configure two 1300 series bridges at one location, each handling a bridge link to another location to BOTH backup and load balance for each other should one of them fail?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install a AIR-BR1310G wireless link between two buildings. I configured the setup in a lab and had everything functioning. Shipped it to the client who is now trying to install it. The radio link is up, but we are having issues with the remote Ethernet connection.The root bridge is connected to a WS-C3560G-24TS (core) switch. The port is setup as a trunk with a native vlan of 2 (our management vlan). [code] if I do a "show power-injector" on the remote radio (no Ethernet link), I get: "Received zero AutoMIB packet from Power Injector, Check to see if CDP is disabled on Fast ethernet" repeating. No other entries. If I do the same command on a unit with a link (root bridge) I get information about "Power Injector Port 0 speed 100Mb/s duplex full link up enabled yes" with a bunch of stats. Similar for "Power Injector Port 1". Power Injector Ports 2-4 as "down" and 5-6 as "disabled". Other than the 3 different patch cables they tried (all straight through) or a crossed cable (try tomorrow when they buy one), is there any other reason the port won't go Up/Up?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got myself TimeWarner Cable, rated at around 15/1 mbps. The guy came and just connected the line from my place, ran it all around my room and plugged it into a Motorola SB5100 Modem. My AV is ESETNOD32 version 5.
My problem is as follows: Before yesterday, I had DSL (1mbps) and it never crashed on me. No matter what website I went to, the connection was stable. The DSL modem had wireless and it was 100% stable too. Here I have a (new?) cable modem that gives me a connection 15x faster but it crashes so often! When the guy set it up, he told me to get speedtests, so I ran on speedtest.net and speakeasy to get them. The sites loaded and my internet was fine. But today, whenever I try to get to those sites, my internet crashes immediately. Not only that, but I notice that when streaming HD on Youtube or elsewhere, the connection tends to crash sometime afterwards. Additionally, the connection may sometimes just crash randomly while I do just about anything.

I just registered the DIR-655. I saw it was on sale on Newegg for around $50 w/ a $15 promotional code. I decided to purchase that, and I have had it for the past 4 days. Firmware is Version 1.32NA. Hardware version A4.Unfortunately, it has been crashing once a day (I noticed it usually crashes between a window of 4:30pm and 6:30pm if that makes any difference). What happens is that it starts to slow down my entire net. That lasts for about 5-10 minutes before my entire net crashes to the point that I can't even access my router. I have to restart the router and cable modem afterwards..
