Cisco Wireless :: 1300 - How To Put Wireless Bridge
Aug 7, 2012
Looking to put a wireless bridge in to connect 2 building about 2000 feet apart. Excellent Line Of Site from rooftop to rooftop. Very little data traffic but will be running Voice over the link. Any have any input on using the 1300 bridges for this application as a permanent install?
Product/Model Number:AIR-BR1310G-A-K9 System Software Filename:c1310-k9w7-tar.123-7.JA System Software Version:12.3(7)JA Bootloader Version:12.3(2)JA4 .
We have several of these bridges hanging around; would like to move them one at a time from our 1030WLSE to our 5508WLC (software 7.0.235, so they're compatible). The bridges are all connected to power injectors (AIR-PWRINJ-BLR2). With our 1200's, we apparently just unplug power, hold mode button, plug in power, release mode after about 4 seconds, and they find the new controller (I haven't tried it yet to confirm, but that's what Google...err...Cisco...says will work!). But obviously there's no "mode" or reset button on either the power injector or the bridge itself.
(Other than "shut down the old controller and the bridges and APs will find the new controller". I'll do that at some point, but want to test first with some spare bridges / APs.)
I've been getting warning messages from the event log of a 1300 series bridge, which is set as an Access Point in the network, states: 'Packet to client (mac address) reached max retries, removing the client'; I'm not sure why the client is removed. Does 'reached max retries' mean that the client has tried to many times to connect to the AP/Bridge?
I am trying to install a AIR-BR1310G wireless link between two buildings. I configured the setup in a lab and had everything functioning. Shipped it to the client who is now trying to install it. The radio link is up, but we are having issues with the remote Ethernet connection. The root bridge is connected to a WS-C3560G-24TS (core) switch. The port is setup as a trunk with a native vlan of 2 (our management vlan). [code] if I do a "show power-injector" on the remote radio (no Ethernet link), I get: "Received zero AutoMIB packet from Power Injector, Check to see if CDP is disabled on Fast ethernet" repeating. No other entries. If I do the same command on a unit with a link (root bridge) I get information about "Power Injector Port 0 speed 100Mb/s duplex full link up enabled yes" with a bunch of stats. Similar for "Power Injector Port 1". Power Injector Ports 2-4 as "down" and 5-6 as "disabled". Other than the 3 different patch cables they tried (all straight through) or a crossed cable (try tomorrow when they buy one), is there any other reason the port won't go Up/Up?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1720, that uses a 1300 wireless lan, that keeps crashing. Is there a fix for this, can I replace it with another wireless lan card? Whenever I first start the computer, I would get the error message saying your wireless card had stopped working.
I have two different LAP 1300 and 1200 in my network and I need to add theme to the WLC,I successes to add one of theme by the option 60 in the DHCP pool at the Core SW,How to use multiple VCI strings for lap 1300 and 1200 (option 60) in one pool?
I have two Cisco 1300's acting as bridges only. I have created an infrastructure ssid on VLAN 2 and assigned this to the radio. I am carrying multiple VLANs between the bridges (using subinterfaces on the fastethernet and radio ports).I have enabled WPA-PSK, but how do I check that this is being used between the bridges? Also - I have a switch connected at each end of the bridge. When I make VTP changes, the remote switch does not pick these up - is this because VTP goes over VLAN1 regardless of the Native VLAN (2 in my case)? Do I have to carry VLAN1 over the bridge to get VTP working, or is there an alternative solution?
My wife has a Dell Inspiron 1300 which crashed. I was able to start it again using the Dell Operating System Reinstallation CD for XP Professional but the wifi (wireless) does not work. Before the crash it had a working wireless connection. It appears that I need to reinstall a driver for it. How can I get a driver when I have no internet connection on that computer? I have tried loading on a flash driver from another computer, but it doesn't seem to transfer. What driver do I need and how can I get it to install on her computer?
Is it possible to configure two 1300 series bridges at one location, each handling a bridge link to another location to BOTH backup and load balance for each other should one of them fail?
My lap top and pc were both accessing internet fine. Now my laptop has the message windows cannot config. wireless connection. If you have enabled another prog. to manage this connection use that software. Then it says ifI want windows to config., start WZC service. I am a novice and don't understand any of this. I don't think I have done anything to enable another prog to manage the connection. I have tried reloading isp disc and making new network connection but to no avail. the little network logo has a red x constantly.
I have Cisco 1131 & 1300 Light Weight Acces Points and I have 5508 WLAN controller. If i enable the wlan controller internal DHCP Server can this access points will work with this internal DHCP server or do i need to configure DHCP option 43 for these access points? Can these access points works with LWAPP or do i need to configure CAPWAP?
i got the problem with 1300 bridges, root bridge with omni antenna and non root with sector antenna , it can associate and can pin each other , but whenever i try to browse several web pages its get timed out and radio was down.
i am placing a formal request to Cisco and to the firmware development team to create a new-and-improved firmware release for the WET200 wireless Ethernet bridge, a product that is still being produced, shipped, and sold. I purchased the product about one-and-a-half years ago and have enjoyed its performance. There have been, however, some flaws with the device, namely the following:While configured to use WPA2-based security, DHCP-related traffic is not passed from a router/gateway's DHCP Server to connected devices on the WET200. Current firmware release notes indicate this was a known issue and was, supposedly, fixed; however, due to the level of problems customers are reporting, it appears this may have only been resolved, if at all, with security configurations of WPA, WEP, or OPEN. It has not been fixed for customers using WPA2-based security. When I originally purchased the WET200 and configured it to use WPA2-based security, while it, initially, did have a few problems connecting to my router/gateway, it, eventually, did connect and stayed connected for, approximately, one year. However, in September of 2009, it suddenly lost connectivity with my router/gateway and has not been able to establish a connection since, even after reinstalling the latest firmware revision and after several soft and hard resets of the device. I tested the WET200 with another router/gateway, only to experience the same issue. Other devices are connecting to my router/gateway, but, not the WET200. The last firmware update for the WET200 was dated back in July of 2008. Currently, it is January 2010 and since these issues have been known for quite some time, it is unacceptable that the firmware for this device has not been updated in such a long time, especially when there are known issues with the WET200's firmware. Such lack of support is forcing me and my clients to stop using these Cisco-based products and purchase competing hardware, something I would prefer not to do; however, without better support, I and my clients do not have a choice. Expecting me and my clients to use an inferior form of security on the WET200, such as WEP and/or WPA, until a firmware update is issued is unacceptable, especially when that update has not been released in over one-and-a-half years. Such lack of support is especially unforgettable when my clients and I are looking to purchase new networking equipment. In the past, I would not have hesitated to purchase a Cisco-based product; now, with this experience in mind, I am finding it very difficult to recommend to a client that he or she should invest their organization's finances into Cisco-branded equipment. Proper, professional, timely, support of your hardware is expected of your customers, especially if you wish them to remain loyal customers. I have noticed that other similar devices, albeit, higher-end devices, have had their firmware updated, more recently, compared to the WET200. I assumed this meant that the firmware development team was updating all firmware on such devices. So far, I have been disappointed in the lack of firmware updates for the WET200. While I understand the possible desire to update the higher-end products, first, as a professional whose job is to research, recommend, purchase, install, configure, secure, and maintain both the enterprise-level and small business-level devices, I highly encourage Cisco not to overlook their small business products when the firmware development team is updating firmware for any Cisco products. Deficiency in the support of one strata of Cisco-based products is reflective upon the support of any Cisco-based product and is not easily forgiven by Cisco customers, such as myself, when new and additional hardware needs to be purchased.
WET546 successfully authenticates and looks pretty healthy on controller (see below) , however neither of computers plugged to WET546 was unable to obtain ip address from dhcp server , nor working with static ip. I was under impression what it might be related to some default policies on WLC2100. Logs (warning) on WLC2100 looks clean.
I need an AP that can run in client bridge mode. By that I mean a device that can be connected to a PC via the ethernet cable and provide wireless access because these older devices don't have wireless network cards?I looked at the WAP321 but it just uses a wizard. I need a device with IOS so that the PSK keys can be encrypted when viewing. I need to have the config backed up and the PSK can't be in clear text.
I'm setting up a Wireless Bridge 1310 with two APs. The Root Bridge is working fine, but the Non-root Bridge is not working, the radio 0 is not UP (It is in reset mode), bellow the settings of APs and logs Non-root Bridge.

My primary home wireless is a Linksys WRT54GS Broadband Router. I have an older Netgear WGR614 Wireless Router that I would like to setup as a wireless bridge to use in another room to connect my other electronics to (i.e tv, blu-ray, Wii).
I'm considering purchasing the "Cisco Linksys - E1200 Wireless-N Router with 4-Port Ethernet Switch". Before I do, however, I want to know how to configure it as a wireless bridge to my existing wireless network.I have a hardware device with only an ethernet connection (no wireless option avaialble). I want to connect the device to a wireless router / access point, in this case it would be the e1200, and then connect to my existing wireless network. The e1200 would be acting like a client of the existing network.I found this article but Step 8 is causing concern. I do not want a wired connection. The two routers must connect wirelessly.
basically a friend of mine gave me his old dell inspiron 1300 because my other laptop died.
It was running really slowly, and still is, so I cleaned the registry, defragmented, all sorts of things, I also started to download updated drivers for the system. Since I downloaded the broadcom update my wireless has been utterly useless, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting by itself, its really annoying. I guessed it could be the laptop not liking the update so i uninstalled it, but it still has the same problem.
We have other laptops and devices connected to the wireless so it's not that. oh! by the way here are any laptop details you might need.

I have a cisco aironet 1300 series and i need to reset it back to factory default. the directions say push the mode button while the access point is off and then turn it on while the mode button is down.
I have an old D-Link DIR-615 wireless N router that I am trying to re-purpose as a wireless bridge so I have network access in the back part of the house where I can't run ethernet wires.
I successfully installed installed DD-WRT on the D-Link and thought I had configured the D-Link into a wireless bridge; however, the D-Link just does not want to communicate with my primary Zoom Cable Modem / Wireless Router. Pings between the two devices return nothing. I disabled all security, they are on the same subnet (192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.6 for the D-Link), same SSID, etc.
I attached a word doc with screen shots of the settings on both devices.
i am trying to connect to internet using area local connection but when plug it in it says connected but when i go to the web using any internet browser it says no internet connection.
I'm looking to bring up a wireless bridge between 2 WET200.I've set in Wireless -> Basic Settings and Wireless -> Security the same parameters in both devices, but it fails. [code]
I need to know if LAG channel groups can be used to increase capacity of media converted links? (i.e. wireless links). For example.. aggregating two 1300 series wireless bridges via 2 switches.
I have a Inspiron 1300 System-ME051 service tag-<Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK>.After reformatting the hard drive I have lost my drivers. My laptops orginal operating system was XP (home edition). I install xp professional service pack 2 since its the only CD I have available. where can I get a full factory cd or download all drive
I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 which crashed, service tag . I was able to start it again using the Dell Operating System Reinstallation CD for XP Professional with SP1, that came with another computer. I then installed a Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 and Internet Explorer 8. However the wifi (wireless) does not work. I went to setup and assured that it is enabled. I assume that I have lost the driver for it. Before the crash it had a working wireless connection. I need to know what driver to install to make it operate. Setup indicates that my computer has a MiniPCI card 1370 Broadcom Corp.
I have a spare computer being used as a DVR in my home theater. Running a CAT 5 cable from my main computer/router (a Linksys 610N) to the home theater computer is not an option. I am unsure if I need a wireless bridge (WET610N), a simultaneous USB wireless-N adapter, or a wireless access point (WAP610N).
