Two years ago I got wireless internet, and when I did, my internet provider sent a wireless router that I have been using successfully with no problems. But the other day, my fiance noticed that we are being charged a fee for using the router provided by the internet provider, and so he decided it we should skip the fee by buying our own wireless router.I've tried hooking up the new router I got a few times but it doesn't work. I already have an existing network and all, and the internet always works when I plug in the provider's router, but when I plug in the new NetGear WNDR3300 router I bought, it doesn't even acknowledge that it's hooked up to the internet and I don't know how to get it to connect with my existing network so that I can send the provider's router back.
Belkin Router N300 Model:F9K1002V2 apparently forces me to have specific LAN and WAN IPs that I have been unable to change. My ISP has been changing my IP and advising me that everything works without issue. It's true that my IP does change, but only if I am directly connected to my modem - I have a completely different IP. If my router is connected to the modem and I am connected either by Ethernet/wifi from the router, my WAN IP is displayed as my IP & the completely different IP is nowhere to be found.
The issue is that this WAN IP seems to have been banned on a game that I played on a daily basis. Game support has not been responding to my requests & I know my account on that game still exists because I am able to play it when I'm directly connected to my modem. Connecting with my modem is not an option, as there are others in my home that also need to use wifi. So, if it's not already obvious, I'm looking for a way to change my WAN IP ... without having to toss out the product and buy a new router - which I am seriously beginning to consider it.
For some port fowarding reasons I have to change my router setting to these:Maximum Ports: 4096TCP Timeout (in seconds): 600UCP Timeout (in seconds): 120I am using a Realtek router ( Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet <NDIS 6.20>)This is supposed to be EXTREMELY easy but I lack any general computer knowledge whatsoever. In laymen's term, I am N00B.
i want to use the belkin to connect a sky box to a sky wireless router, it doesnt work as the ip adress for sky is different, is it possible to change the ip address in the router
I have a srp521 and want to set it up as a vpn server so I can connect back from outside. On the router under the vpn tab I only have
Site to site IPSec VPN IKE Policy IPSecPolicy GRETunnel VPN Passthrough
Page 191 of the srp500 manual says Click VPN > Cisco VPN Server > Group. The Group window opens The manual also says only the serer or Site to site will work at one time, so where do I make the change to bring up the vpn server option?
I use TZO.com DNS servers and it used to work on my old E2500 router, but not on the RV110w. As seen in the picture, it has this message: DDNS has been disabled. No change in the IP Address. I don't know what to do at all. My other question wouldd be, what do I have to type in the boxes. Such as for password, do I type in the TZO Key.
I am moving my wireles router to a new computer (Belkin F5D7234-4V5Do i need software for it to work on my new computer and if so can I get it online.I can't find a software disc.
I have changed administrator password to a secure one, just after the changind the password it logged off and offered to login. Now when I put the same password it writes: Invalid password for Admin user Password I used: 8_^!-,Opc: 5Gj3v5<Xb06?9z\SeWr2z9axdPa-f+L:Wj]NzEF2>v!Fu&lS0 There were no warnings that some symbols are not allowed, etc.
How can I access my router? what should I remove from the password to get access?
I have an RV042 that I have configured to send alert logs to a comcast email address. Recently comcast changed their SMTP port from 25 to 465. I can't find where to change the port settings in the RV042 to send the router logs via port 465.
i am using verizon fios. It's pretty fast, in fact I just did a speedtest and here is the result. But I always want more. My laptop has Intel 6300, which supports up to 450Mb. But the Actiontec MI424WR only has 54Mb. It has nice features, but it uses MoCA and connects over coaxial cables, making it unnecessarily harder to use my own router. So I searched online and found tut about how to set the actiontec as a bridge and use your own router.
1) Wouldn't that lower the speed of the router of my choice? Say if I get a 450Mb router, but I need to connect it through the port on the Actiontec, which iirc is only 100Mb. Shouldn't that mean that the new router is forced to operate at only 100Mb max?
2) What is FIOS' top speed? I'm not even sure if it can go up to 450Mb.
3)I have no problems with this Actiontec currently, the only thing I'm looking for is more speed. Has anyone tried calling Verizon and see if they could switch the connection from coax to CAT5?
I am wanting to force the n600 to g.dmt for a more stable connection. cannot work out how to do it. am force into using old modem as far from the dslam and forcing adsl 1 improves performance.
In the Internet Setup area (WAN) when I change to Static IP I can't change the Subnet Mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.255.240 which is the information currently in my D-Link router. When I try to save the changes I get the error "The IP address is not in the right subnet". I find it hard to believe that a lowly D-Link $35 router has nore capability then a Ciso Small Business Router.
i'm looking to change my pix 506e for an rv042,is it a bad move or a good move ? is the rv042 much better than the 506e? i want to change to an rv042 because it's easier to manage! 506e is currently doing this :
-firewall for a web hosting company (7 servers) -2 vpn tunnel -one-to-one nat.
performance side : is the rv042 much better than the 506e? should i pick up an rv082 or an rv016 ? are they much better than the rv042 ?
i want to change my username and password of my router cw-5354 of cd-r king but the default user and password doesn't work anymore so i can't access the control panel.
I have a curious issue on a customer site where the above components are installed. The issue being that the iPhones the users utilise cannot connect to the mail server via WiFi, they are forced to connect with their 3G connection. The core issue seems to be the 887VA, as when I've installed 'lesser' branded ADSL routers, the connection seems to be fine. The iPhones are set to access the mail server via the URL: mail.customer.com. Should I change this to the internal IP of the server 192.168.12.200, the mail connection works fine. However I cannot expect the client to make this change every time they arrive or leave the office. Presently I have them disable WiFi when on premises.
Ive changed the IP address of a laptop to connect to the router with IP 192.168.15.1 but now want to change the router IP address from the defaul to another subnet, so that it is accessable with other workstations on the LAN, but I could not readily find the option to set the Ip address on the router.
I'm signed in with user admin.
I also wanted to add addiontal users. The help indicates there is a User List Add Entry option but from the Administration bar, the left hand menu option shows User Management & User Privileges options. On User Management, it is possible to change the 2 default user names, but I wanted to leve them and create new ones.
I picked up this RV180 router because it has one of the fastest thru speeds of all the routers tested that I viewed on smallnetbuilder. That and it has the cisco name. I grew tired of purchasing wireless home routers every year after they fail. So far the thing is nice with one exception.
I have one device that is essential on my network called an airave. It is a small device similar to a wireless access point that works on springs voice network. The thing essentially makes a small cell tower inside your house and connects to the sprint network through an Ipsec vpn. I have not ability to change ipsec settings on the device on my end. The device works fine connected to the cable modem or to the old slow dlink. When I first connect the thing it works fine for about 5-10 minutes on the cisco. Then the thing loses connection and I lose my cell phone service. Just to test any port conflicts I made this the the DMZ with no luck.
I have also tried a firmware upgrade. I have not messed with any of the firewall settings or port forwarding since DMZ should in theory fix that. I have assigned the thing a fixed IP address but that does not seem to make a difference. It did not on my old router and is mostly just for my sanity and to facilitate the DMZ.
I'm using a Thomson Technicolor 587nV3. I need to change my NAT status from strict to open. So I can play MW3 online and connect to my friends online games and so I can host multiplayer matches. I have windows 7 laptop to do any of the steps required. I've tried to bind my routers cone through Winscript but without any luck perhaps I done it wrong
I am currently setting up a 2800 Series router, and prefer a username/password type authentication rather than a single enable password. To do this, I did:
This basically does what I want - when I connect to the router through console, it immediately asks me for a username and password. The thing is - as soon as I provide the right credentials, it takes me to USER EXEC mode (the default command mode). Is it possible to change that so that after entering the credentials, I go right into privileged exec mode?
Bonus question: As it is now, I just have no enable password, so when I login with my credentials, I issue "enable" to enter privileged exec mode without it prompting for an additional password. Is it safe to do it this way - having no enable password but requiring a username and password for login?
I know how to change my DNS but need to know which ones are public, So i wasn't satisfied with the speeds i was getting a ran a free scan of all the DNS servers in my area and benchmark-ed which was fastest (the tool is called (DNS benchmark) and i found a REALLY fast one.
