Up until recently I was able to use my chip to connect a Sculpt Touch Bluetooth mouse, but as of late, I am not. When I place the mouse into discovery mode I am able to see the mouse, but when I try to connect to it I get an error that says, "That didn't work. Try again and make sure your mouse is discoverable." I know the Bluetooth chip is still working as I am able to control my iPhone from the computer. View 5 Replies View RelatedI am currently at a standstill when it comes to our desired set up for the following:Originally we purchased an iPad app called Luminair, which works as a DMX board. The idea was to be able to control a set of light fixtures hard lined into a Linksys WRT54G router, which would then allow us to control the lights with the iPad and the Luminair App.After quite a long time and a lot of different settings, I've found myself at this point:We recently were able to connect and control our lights from DMX Workshop, an application running on a Windows 7 64bit connected directly to the fixture through a standard ethernet cord. Both the computer and fixture are set at a 2.x.x.x IP address and a 255.0.0.0 subnet. To allow the two systems to connect andw work with each other, the speed had to be throttled from 100Mb to 10Mb.
I've now tried to introduce the Linksys WRT54G router in between the computer and the fixture hard lined with ethernet cables. My hope is to establish a connection with this setup, and then swap the computer for the iPad.Is it possible to set up the Linksys to a 255.0.0.0 subnet? And do you think it needs to be at this subnet and a 2.x.x.x IP to allow it to work? Also, is it possible to throttle the speed in the router to 10Mb as well, because if it is trying to connect at 100mbps, I am confident it will not work.

I have some iMacs that I manage for, in addition to my primary PC computers, such as my Toshiba Windows 7 laptop, which is what I am currently most concerned with. What I would like to do, is Remote Desktop Control (I'll abbreviate that as RDC) these mac computers through the network from my Windows PC. I am aware that this is possible with either Google Chrome, or by checking an OSX setting that will allow for VNC applications to connect, but I would prefer it if there was some way to RDC these iMacs from my Windows laptop without needing to change their settings or install software-something like how Mac-Mac RDC connections work, where I can just select a computer from the network, type a password, and go.

She lives at home alone and is still pretty independent but among other things she is really struggling with anything to do with times and dates. Diaries and the like are increasingly hard to manage. I am wondering about a technological aid. She has a WIFI network at her home. If there was a way I could set up a MONITOR on the wall that could display say a diary or calendar that I could update and change remotely?. I'd need a PC set up there to run the display, and then connect to that over the internet and control what it shows.Either way it needs to be something I initiate and control as needed, so she doesn't have to do anything like send a remote assistance request, because she can't really manage that.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have tried to setup access control by setting up a policy that restricts certain MAC addresses during a period during the day from certain websites. I set up the website filter and a schedule and selected them for the policy. Instead of blocking just the websites on the filter list during the time setup in the schedule, it blocks all websites all the time.I made sure that I setup the policy to 'block some access' NOT 'block all access'.The only thing that seems to work is that only the computers with the MAC address selected are effected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI may be doing it incorrectly, but I'm trying to configure web access rules. I first set up access control and tell it to use the website filter. I've tried configuring it by both MAC address and IP address (separately, not simultaneously), but it still allows the listed sites in the web filter to get through. Is there something else I need to block or am I not doing something correctly? The network is on DHCP reservation, so IP addresses are always the same. MAC addresses, as I mentioned, don't work, either and they are fixed and logged in the router.
View 9 Replies View RelatedDIR655 with 1.33NA firmware. I'm trying to determine how to block access to the internet for a specific LAN computer when the user knows how to change a MAC address. I don't want to turn MAC control on and grant only to listed computers - the list doesn't accommodate enough MAC addresses, and the client has wireless and wired since it's a laptop. I also don't want to set static IPs on all of the devices since some cannot accommodate that feature.I'm thinking that reserving an IP address isn't ultimately the solution either, since assigning the IP isn't going to work if the MAC changes. how to use access control under these circumstances?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a bit confused about new NAT functionality in Ver 8.4(2). I've gone through all the documentation as well as different blogs but still not clear about the various things. One of these is NAT-CONTROL. I understand that this has now been removed. Does this means that traffic traversing the ASA doesn't need any NAT'ing commands unless specifically required by the administrator? In other words by default traffic is allowed through the firewall without any NAT'ing.
My Second Query
I've ASA5520 running ver 8.4(2). For inside interface, I've created 13 x sub-interfaces under Gi0/1. All have same security level i.e. 100. What I want to achieve is that:Traffic from these sub-interfaces should be NATTed to outside interface when going to internetBut, intra sub-interface traffic should be allowed without NAT'ing. I'm using RFC1918 on both sides i.e. source / destination The first point is not a problem it's working, however. I'm struggling with the second point. On ver 8.2, it wasn't a problem, I used NAT 0 with access-list permitting RFC1918 addresses as source and destination.
I enabled SBL on ASA 8.4, anyconnect client is Win-XP, everything worked as expected, but some users do not want to see SBL logon screen before windows logon because often times they will need to login before they can get network connection. So I modified profile.xml's following line from
UseStartBeforeLogon UserControllable="false">true</UseStartBeforeLogon
to
UseStartBeforeLogon UserControllable="true">true</UseStartBeforeLogon
the new profile is downloaded to client machine's anyconnect vpn profile fine, yet still users see VPN logon screen before Windows log on, "Connect on startup" is un-checked on Anyconnect VPN client, client machines rebooted multiple times, Anyconnect VPN client was removed and re-downloaded from scratch, no change ... What else do I have to do? I certainly can create a new group-policy/tunnel-group for those users without SBL, but that is far from an elegant solution.
