I wasn't smart enough to get a computer with wireless built in, so now I need to add a wireless card. I purchased one from walmart (yeah I know gotta get away from Wally world) url...Then I discover that the only Expansion Slots are;
I have a Belkin usb adapter to pick up my wireless internet. problem is when i choose my network to connect to it constantly says "acquring network address". But as soon as i plug in an ethernet cable from the router the wireless starts working and i just unplug the ethernet cble. So why does my wireelss card depend on my ethernet conenction?
My laptop runs fine with a wireless connection (lynksys router) but when I plug in the LAN it becomes unstable and eventualy freezes all together. I have tried bypassing the router and going straight from the modem (ADSL) with the same result. I have disabled all network connections and started a new one and I managed to get a days work out of it before the problem came back. The connection seems to be ok some times as long as there are no major demands put on it (but freezes as soon as you step it up a bit) and other times it freezes before windows even loads.
I currently have a set ( 2 ) of these plug in the wall network adapters so I can use my gaming pc in the other side of my house. I am looking to hook up my gaming pc to my printer which is upstairs by using this same method but obviously only need one ( to plug the printer into ) so I was wondering if I bought one of these network adapters, which I can get for5 all in including delivery, would I be able to sync it to work with my existing adapters
To go deeper on this issue, the only times I get no internet access (even though I have a good signal (wifi) and is connected to the dsl/modem/router combination) is when I plug something on the USB 3.0 (like my usb 3.0 external hard drive). I tried connecting it on other ports (usb 2.0) and it works perfectly, I don't get internet timed out and basically the internet is working.
we have cable internet, the service has been going in and out for months now. Bought a new router still having problems. Cable company has been out several times, changed modem, etc. Now hooked up straight to cable with no router, working fine so far, but no wifi , kicks off when router is connected. In the past when router is on it will work for a few hours or even a day or two, then go out.
Have got one ethernet plug connected to the router and then one upstairs connected to my ps3, can I add another plug and connect another device to it or do i need two plugs to connect to another port on my router for it to work? If I buy another set of plugs will they still work or will they cause interference?
Basically I bought two ethernet adapters from amazon and have connected them up properly to the router and my laptop through my homes plugs. For some reason my laptop cannot pick up any internet signal from them displaying 'no network access'. When I've run the troubleshoot it occasionally will say that the IP address is not valid. I've tried a variety of different settings but cannot seem to get it to work.
I have a router that was giver to me .I have a kinkle fire that I want to use from my home.I spent hours on the phone and someone @ ATT and some how the person gets lost when I ask them this questions.A total f 5 hours lost!
I just moved offices to one where there is only one phone line - its an ethernet socket. I use the room two days a week, the other guy uses it on the other days. his computer is already plugged into it, how would I be able to switch wires when I'm in there - the yellow cable I have is too short to reach. What would I need to buy and is there something that I can put in the socket to connect both wires so I don't have to keep getting on my knees
All wires terminate in the basement as a RJ-45 plug, to be plugged into a switch housed in an old circuit breaker box. The first wire went off without a hitch, the jack works, the plug works, all is right with the world. The router for the home is currently plugged into that outlet so as to give the entire network as we build it internet. The second outlet is giving us problems though. I've fished the wire up the wall as before, and the length of wire is shorter than the first run. When I terminate the end upstairs as a jack, then plug in my laptop, it refuses to connect. It says the network cable is unplugged. If I terminate the cable as a plug, then plug it directly into the laptop, suddenly everything works. I have tried so far 3 different jacks, tested continuity on the jacks, and tested continuity on the wire to the jack pins to make sure the terminal block was working and everything came back green
I have a network set up currently with a cable modem that goes into a router, the router then goes to a 16 port switch and the switch goes to computers, printers, and my server. I am trying to figure out how to make the modem plug into the switch instead of the router. I'm guessing my problem lies with the default gateway since that is the router. Any suggestions on this? Or how is the best way to set this up? I have 2 NICs on my server and the server has windows 2008 r2.
I have a plug into the mains network, but I need to connect more than one RJ45 cable to it.What is the best way to do this? Also, could I somehow connect a wi-fi extension to the plug in unit?
How do I plug in the bluetooth radio on my sony vaio. The model number is VGN-CR35G. I am unable to send any file to my phone or other connected bluetooth devices via bluetooth
I just replaced my DIR-655 with a DHP-1320 since the constant microwave usage in our house whacks out our wireless during breakfast and dinner time. Now the PCs on the other side of the house are connected over a Home-Plug network. Is there a way to connect the DIR-655 to one of the Home-Plug ports on the distant side of the house to "extend" the wireless coverage there for our laptops? Presume this is a different scenario than creating a "bridge", "access point", or "extender" since the router would be connected back via Ethernet cable. There may be some overlap too in wireless coverage around the middle of the house. Ideally I'd like to use the same SSID.Has this ever been done before? What would I need to reconfigure on the DIR-655?
I have a WCG200 v1, and lately it keeps reseting, so I started thinking maybe it's a power problem. I go to unplug it, and the power plug is extremely hot, so we unplug it, and let it cool off, then plug it back in later. It works fine, and we go to bed, I wake up this morning and it's back to very hot again..
is it possible to plug a cisco aironet ap 2600 to a Cisco-Switch with PoE capabale port and give power to the Cisco AP-2600 through the switch port ? if yes, what is the exact switch part-number so that i can order one?Currently i have a Cisco Cat 3550-24 , does it support PoE?
I have a Modem/Router combo and am trying to plug an 8 port switch directly into it and then have wireless AP's and other hardwired devices plugged into the switch. Normally, when I plug a switch into a router it requires no set up. This one on the other hand, will not work.
I have a Netgear ADSL2 router connected to my main computer and want to add a new Belkin AC900db via plug link at the other end of my house so that we have wireless coverage throughout the whole house. It was working at first but the belkin needed an update which I did now It won't work at all?
I've had my DIR-601 for almost a year now and it's been working near flawlessly until just recently. I have a very simple setup with a desktop PC, router, Time Warner cable modem, and the only device that accesses the router is my Droid phone. I shut my PC down every night. The next day when starting up my PC, there's no internet connection. I haven't fooled around with any router settings, but what I've been doing to re-connect is unplug the cable modem power cord and router power code, wait a minute, then re-plug them back in and it connects right away. Is there something easy that I can do/repair to correct this? Maybe I should check if there are firmware updates?
Cannot get the internet through the ethernet plug, im missing the ethernet network controller , and cant find the driver at the dell downloads , is it that i have to get it off my windows xp disk
