Jan 24, 2011My onboard eithernet quit working so I got PCI slot 1 and it doesnt work either I have 3 slots and none work. The pc won't even acknowledge that they are pluged in, but the lights on the card are flashing. Had it working once but when I moved it to my desk and booted it up nothing worked again. The PC will boot and run fine but no web. Clean install of XP and all is the same!

Apr 11, 2011In a house that is too large for a small wireless modem to send a signal far enough, is it possible to use a second modem in the same phone line (not at the same time). Filters are used in the spare phone jacks.My main question is: when modem A is being used and modem B is switched off, is it necessary for the splitter for modem B to be removed and the filter put in its place? Or is the fact that modem B is switched off sufficient? I suspect that it's necessary and that's why my friend gets very slow download speeds even when the other modem is off.She insists that it used to work but I think she was just lucky if it used to work.

Feb 10, 2012Just finished my first build and everything went pretty smoothly but my wireless network card wasn't working. I noticed after I opened it back up that in order for my to screw the card in place it made the right side of the card tilt up.
So I just set it in the PCI slot correctly but there's no way for me to screw the card in place. I know my MOBO is set properly. My graphics card fits perfectly.

Jan 2, 2012I'm trying to learn a little about Cisco router setup, since I'm fairly well versed in configuration. I have an 1841 w/ K9 that I'd like to set up as a WAN Router to hot swap if one of ours goes down. I installed a VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 MultiFlex card in Slot 1 of the router.
Currently, if I run a "show diag", the VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 shows up in Slot 1 but in the configuration I can't see it or configure it. Am I missing an enable or something? I thought I had to declare card type but I can only do that on the existing card, the router doesn't seem to recognize that the card is there in any place other than "show diag".

Is there any way to make standby Sup to ACTIVE without reloading any of the Supervisor. however there is two way as per my understanding -
1. we can reload the active Sup so that standby Sup will take charge. - (redundancy reload shelf)
2. we can focefully switchover the state of Sup's by (redundancy forcefully swithover) but in above both cases reload will be performed by one of the supervisor. which i don't want.

Laptop Freezes With LAN Plug In
Mar 7, 2011My laptop runs fine with a wireless connection (lynksys router) but when I plug in the LAN it becomes unstable and eventualy freezes all together. I have tried bypassing the router and going straight from the modem (ADSL) with the same result. I have disabled all network connections and started a new one and I managed to get a days work out of it before the problem came back. The connection seems to be ok some times as long as there are no major demands put on it (but freezes as soon as you step it up a bit) and other times it freezes before windows even loads.
