I can find ip address of any website from domains by using simple command [URL] in command prompt.I wonder how I can find the domain names from ip addresses. For e.g. I would like to know the domain names of ip - 188.8.131.52
I have an issue with LMS 4.1 where the DCR names of several devices repeatedly revert to the IP address. I am trying to stage some devices for deployment. The initial 5 devices were staged and are now off-line. A subsequent set of 6 devices is on-line and accessible from LMS4.1. The device names on the off-line devices are stable. The device names of the on-line devices revert back to an IP address every day. From device management, I go in and change the display name and the host name from the IP address to an alphabetic host name. When I go back and look at it the next day, it has reverted to the IP address.
using ipconfig to show static ip address when cable is unplugged, can ipconfig show static ip address when cable is unplugged? if no why? and if yes how do you make it work? anything you can edit on registry to mke it work.
Trying to setup secure net but when I type in the router IP Address, it shows Netgear, Type in printer IP address and it shows Linksys. How can I access my Linksys to make changes? I believe the Netgear shown is Comcast modem...
We all know that MS traceroute and *nix traceroute work a bit differently. *nix works by sending UDP packets with low ttls to random high UDP ports.
Of course this creates a problem when trying to create an ip6tables rule where I want to allow traceroute. Anyone got something clean that will make this work? This is an example of current drops in my firewall log:
I need to allow traceroute traffic through ASA running version 8.0.2.This traffic is natted. what configuration is required on ASA to allow this natted traceroute traffic.Traffic is coming from inside and going outside. Also can we capture this traceroute traffic on asa using capture feature.
I have been searching to find out how to allow traceroute from an inside host to an outside IP address. I have found a few articles for IOS versions prior to 8.4 but nothing for 8.4. I can traceroute from the CLI of the 5510 just fine but from a windows host on the inside network all I get is Request timed out
I'm working as a network engineer for a service provider, and we had just gone through a pretty large scale upgrade throughout our network and service. But not long after the upgrade (or maybe ever since the upgrade, we can't confirm this because we probably missed it out due to many other links to be tested), we met a peculiar problem.Everything seems to be running fine most of the time, but there has been some weird 'ghost-like' activity which have been causing inconsistent network disruptions. At times, certain portions of the network can't communicate with other subnets. And most obviously is the problem with a continuous ping and a traceroute simultaneously. Ping is usually normal, but until a traceroute is attempted, it times out at the same time as tracert fails to obtain the route.Besides, performing a ping from the 2nd closest hop address, 10.250.253.251, which is a cisco layer 3 switch also has problems, the results shown are as belowType escape sequence to abort[CODE]
I've got an annoying problem with my ASA 5520.I have traffic going from the inside interface (security level 100) to the outside interface (security level 0) with a global PAT applied to the outside interface address for all inside traffic - and I can't seem to traceroute through the firewall. The ruleset is simple - basically, allow any IP from inside to outside. The NAT is simple - PAT all traffic unless exempted to the IP address of the outside interface. If I do the trace from my internet edge router it works fine - so I know it's not soemthing my uplinks are filtering - but if I do it through the firewall, I get perfect responses until the hop where it hits the firewall interface - then nothing. Is there something I am missing that I need to do to allow traceroute to just work with all the rest of the traffic?
Source--- Router 1 ( ip 184.108.40.206) --ACE---router---cloud---customer---router--destination( ip 220.127.116.11). Traceroute from client to destination shows the following: traceroute 18.104.22.168 traceroute to 22.214.171.124 (126.96.36.199), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 188.8.131.52 (184.108.40.206) 1.10 ms 1.78 ms 2 220.127.116.11 (18.104.22.168) 1.01 ms 1.97 ms 2.511 ms 3 22.214.171.124 (126.96.36.199) 2.01 ms * 188.8.131.52 (184.108.40.206) 2.330 ms
So on this, the destination is 220.127.116.11.The first hop is the default gateway, which is 18.104.22.168.After that, the next step is the Cisco ACE.After that there are several hops to the destination.Looks like for some reason the Cisco ACE is not recording his ip.( For any destination traceroute result is the saame.ICMP is allowed in the access list and also ther is ICMP inspect in my config. access-list ICMP line 10 extended permit icmp any

there is an issue with tracroute from ASA 5505 with 9.0(2) - here is the running configuration [code] with this running configuration - from the LAN tracerouet to public IP, it is working fine. but once I traceroute from the LAN 192.168.225.x to the corporate networks via the IPSec l2l tunnel - it does not show any hop at all - even the inside interface of the ASA does not show in the traceroute.
We have a ASA 5505 and a 5510, that we are using site to site..I need to traceroute from the 5505-5510.. From the outside interfaces.. Don't want to do this through the site-to-site.I have temporarily added a few acl on the outside interfaces..
-access-list outside_in extended permit icmp any any unreachable -access-list outside_in extended permit icmp any any time-exceeded -access-list outside_in extended permit icmp any any echo-reply
when i traceroute it only goes one hop.. Maybe thats the way it suppose to be? I need to know all the hops between the outside interfaces on the 5505 to the outside interface on the 5510.
I have configured a vlan interface on a 3750 switch. there is aprox 4Mb active traffic flowing through the interface, but when I do a "show interface vlan (vlanid)" the output show zero bits in and zero bits out. Its a typical L3 config with one IP on the vllan interface acting as the gateway for the VLAN devices. Is this a normal behaviur ? and if so is there any way to get the traffic in/out stats. The end PC/devices are connected to this switch via an L2 TRUNK and I dont have access to the L2 switch on which the actual devices connect. so cant get the real time stats of those interfaces.
Facing issue with 2960G switch , where its do not display "logging trap informational " in show running and show startup .where its showing all other levels from 0 to 5 and 7 after configuration and save commands. [code] after config getting saved , it do not shows in show runn or in show startup while for all other levels it do show the config lines .I tried the same on 12.55.SE release also but its same results . Is this a limitaion of this platform, is there any doc explaining the same for reference. [code]
=>Routing Protocol in Question EIGRP. =>Two equal metric routes for destination A(through R1 and R2-SVIs on two upstream 6500s)
Traceroute Output, is the output that alternates between 1.1=>10.1=>1.1 normal granted the two routes are "equal metric routes for the same routing procotol in use" or is that "round robin behavior" indicative of a routing problem?
Why does the sx300 series only displays ping and traceroute results in 20ms intervals (see below)? The example in the CLI manual shows "regular" results. These 20ms intervals are not useful for troubleshooting. This is version 22.214.171.124 on an sf300-24. [code]
Just planning my move to 8.4(2) and I'm looking for some input. In the past, I have a text file with name commands for every host on my network that I know about. I would then deploy this list to all ASAs so that I could create ACLs on any firewall using a name, which would correlate to the same IP on any firewall. Now, the names from the name command no longer work as a host entry in ACLs, therefore I'm required to switch all of my active name command entries over to objects. My question is, have any of you found an easy way to change all name commands to objects? Since the name command doesn't specify the mask of the entry, I think this may not be possible without manually updating thousands of records. I know that once I migrate, there will be some objects auto-created, but those will only be host and or networks which have NATs associated with them.
Is it possible to give me NAS and Xbox 360 Host names so that they show up in my DHCP Client list? Currently there are 13 devices connected, 11 of which have a host name but these two do not. It also shows the IP and MAC addresses of each connected device.I just want to make sure that all of the devices that are connected are what I would expect.
I have been asked to do is locate some computers on the network and run a security scan on them. Well i pinged the host name and got an IP address. Then the network admin me look up the switch port that the computer is located on and so on. So i find 3 of the computers im looking for and when i get on the computer and look up the name but it does not match the name given to me. So i do an ipconfig /all and see that the computer has the right IP address and MAC address but not the same name. So my main question is, are these computers one in the same or is something messed up?
I have an old network with 5 computers, now one of them is damaged and i copied the file into another computer.2 computers are set to save files in a database which were in the damaged computer.how can I give to one computer two names ? - i cant change the source program to read the database from other computer..The program searches for \computer_namedatabasedatabase file.mdb (I dont want to change the the computer name because other computers search for him under the other name.
I have issues with the same host name duplication in different VLAN's in the same domain.Scenario:I have 2 VLAN's named VLAN A and VLAN B.If i assign in VLAN A for one of the computer name as Comp1 it's not in the network so its accepting.in dns will be replaced with VLAN B and if i ping i can see the ip also from VLAN B.
I have cisco's CUCM version System version: 126.96.36.19900-12 when I do a corporate lookup (form my 7970 I hit Directories - 5) Corporate Directory) I see all sort of accounts that have no phone extensions I.E. our windows service accounts, our administrator accounts that have no number associated with them. is there a way for me to hide them?
