I am using NetGear DGN1000 router which includes ADSL modem. I bought another router (Linksys E3000) with I connected to the old one. I would like to setup port forwarding on the new one and use the old one as a modem only. How can I do that?

Theh INTERNET PORT indicator on the router is goes to OFF mode.

View 3 Replies View Relatedbasically we got sent this new router from Orange (our ISP) and we have had problems with it for the last week. The router model is the Netgear N150 DGN1000. Sometimes I connect it will be absolutely fine, but then the next time I log onto my laptop it can't identify the network, it says connected but doesn't have the globe in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. Then we have to reset the router a few times everytime until it recognises it, even though the settings are saved when we connected last time. It is the same with my sisters laptop. We both have Atheros network adapters so that may be a compatability issue with the router, but my brother connects fine on his everytime. A similar problem occurs with modern warfare 3 on my ps3, it won't let me sign in to playstation network half the time and keeps saying NAT type failed, even though NAT is enabled on my router. get this problem sorted and to get a consistent network connection that connects every time that would be great. We changed the security type to WEP on it a few days ago from WPA and that meant we could sign into modern warfare 3 some of the time rather than never, but we are still having issues.

I have established a wired connection and my ipad, iphone and his old laptop connect wirelessy to it without any problems but I just cannot work out why his laptop won't connect to the internet.It recognises the wireless signal and it says its connected and that the signal is excellent but when I try to go on the web or check emails it just won't work.I've tried deleting all his wireless networks and starting from scratch but don't know what else to tryHis PC is running windows Vista
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'll try and keep this brief, we were having problems with our netgear router (DGN1000) mainly with connection when online gaming with PS3, generally poor connection - so purchased a TP-Link router (TD-W8960N). We could usually access the netgear wirelessly on our laptops Dell and Acer Aspire 4820T (both Windows 7) without any problems and were still doing so last night. However hubby attempted to install the new router last night and all seemed to go fine but after installing we couldn't connect to the wireless network through laptops, iphone ps3 etc - even though we could see the network with excellent strength, after hours of trying called TP-Link they went through everything they could think of and still no joy. Gave up in the end and went to reinstall the netgear Router and now we have the same problem with this router, even though earlier in the night it wasn't a problem - we deleted the previous networks so there was nothing stored in memory & tried everything we can think of (although neither of us are brilliant with IT we do usually get by).We even set up an unsecured wireless network (on both routers) and still couldn't connect?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Arch Linux on an Acer laptop and my wirless connection doesn't stay up. After a while it disconnects, and when I try to reconnect I get stuck with a "Waiting for authorization" message. I have to retry several times before getting the connection stay up for few minutes. This happens with both networkmanager and wicd. The strange thing is that the iMac that sits next to the laptop connects fine, and when I use my laptop within the university wireless network it works normally.

last Monday night, out internet just stopped working completely. We had an older Livebox (Inventel) and after phoning tech support, we were told it was a problem with the router. The problem was with the "@" symbol flashing about once a second. Anyway, they sent over a new router. This was the netgear1000. We set it up and the Internet light stayed red - all the other lights that are meant to be green are green.. We checked the details against what was on the personal detail card they sent over with the router and all of that was correct. It even shows the upload and download speed even though we cannot connect to the internet. When I check the status, it states that the LCP is ready to come up or something along those lines and that the CHAP authentication failed. I phoned them up again and they couldn't solve the problem so it's being moved up to a different department apparently. Anyway, I don't get how it can be an error with the username and password if my old router just stopped working with nothing being changed. The phone line is fine and the tech guy even changed our password.

I have a Cisco [E4200] (192.168.1.x) router connected to the Netgear modem via the WAN port on the Cisco. This serves as the router for network 2.
DHCP is turned on for both routers. I can access all devices on network 1 using any device o network 2 including the Netgear modem configuration page, but I cant access any device on network 2 from network 1. Is it possible to have access to devices from both networks? [URL]
I have just picked up an ADSL Netgear N150 DGN1000 router as my old router (just some branded old thing from my ISP has started playing up a bit due to age more than anything else) but for some reason it is not seeing my internet connection at all.I've reset it factory default twice and connect to it wirelessly just fine, including accessing the router's setup pages and whatnot. I was going to update the firmware from in there.. but that needs the connection to the internet as well.
My ISP is BE Unlimited (UK ISP) and their old branded modem connects again immediately when I plug that back in so I know it's nothing to do with any of the cables or filters, etc.One thing I have noticed is that on the box for the new router it does say Orange Retail (another UK ISP) on one of the barcodes but the router itself isn't branded, so I don't see this could be a problem but figured it was woth mentioning.
when I try to connect a laptop to the wi fi it won't connect because the connection has changed from home network to public and sometimes unidentified network . I can get it connected by momentarily unplugging the router and rebooting it , then pressing connect button and it will revert to home network and things are ok . It is a netgear DGN1000 and I tried another router same make and model, same problem. I use an ethernet cable on my desktop no problems.there's 3 laptops come in to occasional use and it's happened to them all . My early attempt was microsoft's fix for sticking in public mode . I purchased the new Verison 290/4G modem. It workrd great until I tried to print on my HP printer thru the network. No luck.
Verizon says that the 290 is not a dial up modem, but instead looks like a network adaptor and the desk top doesn't want to run two networks - the Netgear and the 290. In other words, the 290 will not work on a system that is connected to any other network.
My wife bought her self an xbox last night so we can game togher. We both tried to get online last night, but came up with a strict nat for one of the machines. Which ever machine got online first got the open nat type. i've tried DMZ host with port forwarding for both machines to no success. We have a netgear modem router from charter cable. the model number I believe is CG3000D. she was on a wireless network and i was wired straight to the modem router.

I have managed to get two laptops working wirelessly with no problems, my main problem is the master pc needs to be able to use this router as well, but I cannot get it to work via the Ethernet cable!! I can get to to the Routers config page, I have done the following:
unplugged and removed the speedtouch modem, the old dial up connection is still available on the pc along with the speedtouch software and driver, I left this in place just in case the pc needs to revert back to the speedtouch modem, if I am unable to resolve this issue.
I have set the ip address on the PC to static and input the relavent Subnet and Gateway I can ping the Routers address 192.168.0.1 even though I have reserved the PC's Mac address and IP Adress I am unable to get to the internet. I have tried setting up a new internet connection via windows wizard.
when i look into the nework connections section in windows the local area connection is 100mb and there seems to be another connection which looks like another internet connection this indicates I am connected however I still cannot get an actual google session running.
I hav a laptop conecteted to the internet with comcast service and a netgear wireless router that works fine. but bought a desktop and when i hook it to the router i get no internet. im running windows 7 ultimate on both machines. i am gettin a thing saying unidentified network in my network settings and i called comcast whent through resetting the modem and router with them and nothing then they tell me i have to pay them to run another machine of of my router this is ridiculas i have the machine pluged into the port on the router with anethernet cable everything is hooked up right i know this im pretty computer savy as ive built many machines in the past.

The Windows Diagnose and Repair reports - Error 815. View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently went to a higher speed ADSL which claimed to be 16Mpbs.. It is with Acanac and when i first tested with speed net it came in over 14Mbps. I was using a netgear wireless g router (old) with the 4200 speedstream modem and got these results which I found acceptable. Now using netgear n router modem combo DGN-2000 and my readings are just over 12 Mbps. I tried reverting and still got the lower speeds. I tried isolating one computer hard wired still got the lower 12Mbps.It hasnt really affected my download speeds as far as I can tell but I did find it a little puzzling.

Netgear N300 ADSL2+ modem router Model DGN 2200 (had about a year), Windows 7 64bit Home premium Laptop connected wirelessly, Windows 7 64Bit Home Premium desktop connected by LAN cable. ISP BT Internet. Until recently this set up has been working OK with occasional loss of interent access and need to re-boot router. The internet light has been showing red on those occasions. Over the last two weeks I have found that when I turn one of computers on although all lights on router are green I have no internet access. I have to re-boot, then all is OK until the next day when I have to re-boot again. My phone line appears OK with no noise on line, no reported problems on BT broadband staus. The thing that puzzles me is that the lights are all green on the router yet my networking icon on the pc shows an exclammation mark and 'no internet access' and I do not have access to net.The wireless connection is OK with excellent strength.
