I am trying to set my NETGEAR N150 DGN1000 . I can connect to the router via wireless but no Internet.
Theh INTERNET PORT indicator on the router is goes to OFF mode.
Before I try this I had Internet with the same line with a different router.. I am not too sure what's wrong with this.. Could any one come up with a possible solution..

I have just picked up an ADSL Netgear N150 DGN1000 router as my old router (just some branded old thing from my ISP has started playing up a bit due to age more than anything else) but for some reason it is not seeing my internet connection at all.I've reset it factory default twice and connect to it wirelessly just fine, including accessing the router's setup pages and whatnot. I was going to update the firmware from in there.. but that needs the connection to the internet as well.
My ISP is BE Unlimited (UK ISP) and their old branded modem connects again immediately when I plug that back in so I know it's nothing to do with any of the cables or filters, etc.One thing I have noticed is that on the box for the new router it does say Orange Retail (another UK ISP) on one of the barcodes but the router itself isn't branded, so I don't see this could be a problem but figured it was woth mentioning.
basically we got sent this new router from Orange (our ISP) and we have had problems with it for the last week. The router model is the Netgear N150 DGN1000. Sometimes I connect it will be absolutely fine, but then the next time I log onto my laptop it can't identify the network, it says connected but doesn't have the globe in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. Then we have to reset the router a few times everytime until it recognises it, even though the settings are saved when we connected last time. It is the same with my sisters laptop. We both have Atheros network adapters so that may be a compatability issue with the router, but my brother connects fine on his everytime. A similar problem occurs with modern warfare 3 on my ps3, it won't let me sign in to playstation network half the time and keeps saying NAT type failed, even though NAT is enabled on my router. get this problem sorted and to get a consistent network connection that connects every time that would be great. We changed the security type to WEP on it a few days ago from WPA and that meant we could sign into modern warfare 3 some of the time rather than never, but we are still having issues.

I have established a wired connection and my ipad, iphone and his old laptop connect wirelessy to it without any problems but I just cannot work out why his laptop won't connect to the internet.It recognises the wireless signal and it says its connected and that the signal is excellent but when I try to go on the web or check emails it just won't work.I've tried deleting all his wireless networks and starting from scratch but don't know what else to tryHis PC is running windows Vista
View 9 Replies View Relatedlast Monday night, out internet just stopped working completely. We had an older Livebox (Inventel) and after phoning tech support, we were told it was a problem with the router. The problem was with the "@" symbol flashing about once a second. Anyway, they sent over a new router. This was the netgear1000. We set it up and the Internet light stayed red - all the other lights that are meant to be green are green.. We checked the details against what was on the personal detail card they sent over with the router and all of that was correct. It even shows the upload and download speed even though we cannot connect to the internet. When I check the status, it states that the LCP is ready to come up or something along those lines and that the CHAP authentication failed. I phoned them up again and they couldn't solve the problem so it's being moved up to a different department apparently. Anyway, I don't get how it can be an error with the username and password if my old router just stopped working with nothing being changed. The phone line is fine and the tech guy even changed our password.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a windows server 2003 machine which access internet over a Netgear N150 router also I've got an static IP, now internet is working properly even I can ping my machine from a remote machine.Here starts the real problem, I've shared few folders which I can't access from any remote machine not in my LAN.Although I could access my server through remote desktop and everything else is working fine, I've opened port 445 on router even that didn't worked also Windows firewall is OFF.Now when I try to browse my server through \myserverip it shows me a blank window but when I tried to access it like:
\myserveripsharedfolder it gives me error which reads something like
"File and printer sharing seems online but server is not responding on port 445."

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'll try and keep this brief, we were having problems with our netgear router (DGN1000) mainly with connection when online gaming with PS3, generally poor connection - so purchased a TP-Link router (TD-W8960N). We could usually access the netgear wirelessly on our laptops Dell and Acer Aspire 4820T (both Windows 7) without any problems and were still doing so last night. However hubby attempted to install the new router last night and all seemed to go fine but after installing we couldn't connect to the wireless network through laptops, iphone ps3 etc - even though we could see the network with excellent strength, after hours of trying called TP-Link they went through everything they could think of and still no joy. Gave up in the end and went to reinstall the netgear Router and now we have the same problem with this router, even though earlier in the night it wasn't a problem - we deleted the previous networks so there was nothing stored in memory & tried everything we can think of (although neither of us are brilliant with IT we do usually get by).We even set up an unsecured wireless network (on both routers) and still couldn't connect?

I can get it connected by momentarily unplugging the router and rebooting it , then pressing connect button and it will revert to home network and things are ok . As Far as I can tell When it drops its still connected to the Wireless network.. it just says local only and Gives me the limited connectivity warning.. When I diagnose the issue it tells me a number of different things and it tells me to renew the IP settings and sometimes that will work and sometimes not.. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife has a COBY 10" netbook running Windows X home SP3., we use a NETGEAR N150 Wireless Router and for some time now, whether she boots from a cold startup or "wakes" this laptop, it has lost the network connection. It gets the "Wireless networks detected" message, sees our Security-enabled wireless network, but instead of automatically connecting, it always asks for the network key. I have a second laptop (Toshiba Qosmio) that I only use some othe time, primarily for vacations, and when I turn this on it always connects right to the network, even if we've been away and connected to a hotel network. I never have to use the key for our home network once I get back home.
She's getting pretty fed up having to constantly put in the network key on the COBY, this should be a "set it once" and it should remember it should it not? I'm sure it used to, have I missed something?
My son is using the above access point on his laptop. He wants to make the connection secure by having a password that you must enter in order to access it. How does he set up this password? Looked at the user manual; see the screens but don't know how to get to the screen.

I have disabled both windows firewall and my virus software but nothing seems to work. It seems to be a timeout issue as FTP and ping sometimes does work but FTP is increadibly slow when it works and the ping time is very high 670ms and above. I am running windows 7 and my router is a netgear n150

I recently bought a router so I could connect my Toshiba laptop to the internet. After I connected the ethernet cable to the router and plugged everything in, I installed the program from the CD that it came with. After the whole process, it says "You are now connected to the internet!". Yeah well when I try to get on the internet, it suddenly takes the connection off. On my wifi status, it says it's not connected anymore. When I try to connect again, it says I'm connected, although if I get on internet explorer, it takes off the connection again. Though when it is connected, it says no internet connection available although I am connected to the router. So basically, I'm connected to the router, but not the router to the internet.

DSL light will be solid green, along with the port, wifi, etc... But the internet one stays solid red.I've tried changing dns settings and things, but to no avail. Though I am able to login to the router, and I can get internet if I directly connect to the modem.

I noticed in the router settings that the internet port had no ip address, as in it was just 0.0.0.0.
Can any of the wired/wireless routers like the n-150 be sub-netted with each wired port being its own subnet?

After a while it disconnects, and when I try to reconnect I get stuck with a "Waiting for authorization" message. I have to retry several times before getting the connection stay up for few minutes. This happens with both networkmanager and wicd. The strange thing is that the iMac that sits next to the laptop connects fine, and when I use my laptop within the university wireless network it works normally.
