View 1 RepliesI am on a University campus and they have provided the following to connect to the internet along with DNS server addresses:
IP Address: 192.168.25.24
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.254.1
When I connect my computer, it gives an error that the IP address and subnet mismatch, but it still connects to the internet just fine. However, if I try to put these settings into the DIR-655 along with my computer's MAC address, it gives me the error "WAN gateway IP address 192.168.25.24 must be within the WAN subnet" and requires I change it.
what my IP address, my subnet mask, and what my default gateway is. I have tried typing "ipconfig" into CMD but then I only got up 100 boxes saying "Permissionisconnected"

(not that that matters),When the new router (Virgin Media / Cable) was installed all other laptops where connecting to it without any probs, but not this one.The laptop in question still receives an IP address, Subnet mask and Gateway from the router - Vista says Local only, no internet access. It cannot ping anything else on the network either. When I do ping it comes back destination host unreachable.

It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.

Given an IP address range, select the correct subnet mask for the scenario. IP address: 132.250.0.0/16, You need to create 100 networks with a minimum of 500 hosts per network. What is the correct Subnet mask and the 10th subnet address range?

View 1 Replies View Relatedpartition the departmental IP network address block to create a staff and a student subnet. Each of these will be identified by its own network address and netmask. It is university policy that you must be economical with the IP addresses. That is, the subnets must be as small as possible, but they must be large enough to accommodate the maximum number of hosts you were given. Also, it is university policy that the respective gateway router to the outside world should always be given the highest possible host IP address in the subnet. The student subnet should have a higher IP network address than the staff subnet. The network must be able to support up to 60 machines on the staff subnet (not counting the router) and up to 120 machines on the student subnet (also not counting the router).
IP address/netmask
University network address127.158.128.0
University network mask255.255.192.0
University internet gateway IP address127.158.191.254
Department network mask255.255.254.0
Department router address127.158.129.254
Suppose that the network address of the departmental network is 127.158.128.0 (calculated by AND between Dep network mask and Dep router address)I know that 60 machines would use 6 bits for the staff subnet.the netmask of staff would be 255.255.255.192.how can I figure out the the IP network address of the staff subnet.I have worked out the range for the staff subnetwork.
127.158.128.0 - 127.158.128.63
127.158.128.1 = Gateway address
127.158.128.63 = Broadcast address
Now how can I calculate the IP network address of the staff subnet?
if i give gateway of one as ip address of another and vice versa? both are directly connected and u cant use hub, switch,router...

We are switching over to a new ISP and the settings from the old ISP Statstic IP,DNS, is on the Cisco 891 router. Question can I just edit the settings that are already on the Cisco 891 router. I clicked on the CCP exress Went to the Task Internet(Wan) Address type is set for Static IP which I can change and the subnet I can change. In the DHCP it is enable DHCP server on the Lan interface VLan1 and I want to keep the Starting IP address and Ending IP address. For the Section DOmain Name Server (DNS) Primary DNS and Secondary DNS I can change it. Where do I type in the Gateway address. I clicked on the Routing and I only see checked Enable dfault Route and checked INterface Fastethernet8. I don't anywhere that I need to type in the Gateway address anywhere in the CCP Express.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhrome threw me a DNS lookup failed. I go into my network settings and I noticed that I had limited connectivity. It would switch between no network access and no internet access every few seconds. After a bit of fiddling around, I got it to connect through assigning myself a static IP. This isn't exactly convenient because I use this computer on multiple networks. When I try to have it on automatic IP, I get no IP address or default gateway when I do an ipconfig /all. It would appear that my router quit assigning my laptop an IP for no reason whatsoever. DHCP is enabled on the router, and all other devices work fine. What could possibly be the problem here? I'm 99% sure it's not an IP conflict either. It's not being MAC filtered because I'm on the thing right now posting this through a static IP. It's not my A/V because it's worked great in the past. Perhaps I should also mention it occasionally says "unidentified network" instead of the SSID

We have a server connected to a 3560 switch which in turn connects to 6500s. The gateway interface is on the 6500. We will be changing the 6500s so the mac address for the gateway will change, however the IP address will remain the same. As we change out the 6500s the uplink connections to the 3560 will go down. This will flush the old mac address from the 3560.When the 3560 removes a MAC address does it update servers so they have to relearn the correct MAC address?

View 1 Replies View RelatedEverything in our small network worked until today when I had to manually reset the router. We run a application through a provider which requires that we view it from the same IP address for access. We have a statis IP assigned by our ISP solely for this purpose. For simplicity, lets us 23.11.23.176 as the statis assigned by our ISP and 23.11.23.175 as the gateway also assigned by our ISP. The application we need to browse requires that we use the 23.11.23.175 address else it is blocked from viewing. When we hard line into the modem, we are able to browse it fine. When I connect the CISCO router and do it wirelessly, it shows our address as 23.11.23.176 what are the required steps in order to set the CISCO router to use the Gateway address as the browsing IP for computers connected to it. We had set it up about a year ago, and i completely forgot how.

The DSL is working but the local is not pulling a 10.1.5.1 IP and has no connectivity. Everything looks as if it is configured correctly but still the DSl is working but not the Local connection.
