View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using the WRT54G2 connected to a cable modem that requires a PPPoE login. I followed the Service Providers instructions and cloned the modems MAC address to the WRT54G and setup the PPPoE user id and password. I can then plug my PC into one of the Ethernet connections on the back of the WRT54G and everything works as expected. First I connect to the WRT54G2 and then I open a PPPoE connection in my network settings and it logs into the service provider and everything works as expected. But when I connect to the WRT5G2 wirelessly I connect to the AP fine. When I open the same PPPoE connection to the service provider it fails, the message says I have the wrong userid or password or that the protocol is not supported. Of course I know the userid and password is correct because it works when connected with Ethernet cable. I have tried disabling the security on the wireless network but that did not seem to work. The modem is a HomePNA HCNA Voice Endpoint.I am at the latest firmware 1.0.04.

I installed a Linksys WRT54G2 router earlier this year and set my Siemens modem from AT&T(Actually from SBC before the two merged) in bridge mode. I did this so I could change the NAT setting on our internet, which was interfering with my Xbox. It worked for about 4 or 5 months with little to no problems. Recently, however, the internet has been disconnecting and when I check the status page on the router it says it is disconnected. Sometimes clicking on the connect button will work, but usually it will say "Connecting" and keep refreshing the page for a little while without any change, then give me a message saying it couldn't get the IP from the PPPoe server. Turning it and the Siemens modem on and off and fiddling around seems to solve the problem, but only temporarily. Interestingly enough, I don't think it ever interferes with my Xbox. Until recently, the Xbox was set as the highest priority on the QoS page, but I changed the computer to the highest priority and it hasn't worked. In addition, the small, thin green light bar just below the Linksys logo on the top of the router has just recently started changing to orange occasionally

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using my EA4500 since it's original launch date as a PPPoE router through another router/modem which is the Netgear DG834G V4 set to Modem Only mode which was working fine for a long time!A month ago, a friend wanted to borrow the Netgear Router and after he gave it back I reset it like I always do and entered my settings in router mode(i.e. username and password) to check if I havewe working Internet connection and that the router is working properly and it was working properly like it was before I lent it. Now comes the problem, if I keep using the Netgear router as the PPPoE handler and make the EA4500 work as "Automatic Configuration DHCP" it works flawlessly but if I set the Netgear router to modem mode and make the EA4500 handle the PPPoE connection, the report in the troubleshooting tab keeps on saying "Connecting" endlessly!
Note: I've replicatedthe settings that I used on both router before and after lending it to my friend so there's no difference in settings!
I have a Linksys WRT310N V1.I am trying to connect this via PPPoE to another Thompson router/modem that has been succesfully switched into BRIDGE mode. The Linksys router is conneted via ethernet cable to an ehternet port on the Thompson router. The ADSL cable is pluggedinto the WAN port of the Thomson 'bridge'.There is no cable in the WAN port of the Linksys router.
The Linksys router is set up to connect over PPPoE using the username and password that was given to me by my ISPs tech support (checked and double checked). The DHCP server on the Bridged Thomson is set to ON. DNS is set to OFF.the DHCP server on the Linksys router is set to ON.
I recently bought an E3000. I am trying to setup a wireless home network.Google and tried a lotta things (power cycle the most no. of times ). Nothing worked. So I poked around. Looked up the IPConfig of my PC with wire connected directly(no router), was 192.168.0.xxx. So I hit 192.168.0.1 in my browser address bar, and it came up with the login page for a D-Link DIR600. A wireless router with wireless disabled. Apparently this is being used as a switch by my ISP. This I know cause I checked the active connections and DHCP reservations on the D link and it showed up about 100 different PC's (including MAC and IP addresses).

I was assigned a static block over PPPoE from the ISP. I can connect to the internet using the gateway address but I need to route the other static IPs to my servers. I might say that I accomplished it on a couple of older routers - E1200 & WRT120N, but I cannot get it to work on my new EA3500. I have 5 usable IPs plus the gateway IP that is assigned with the PPPoE connection on the WAN port.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT54GS wireless router. I can successfully set up the router with my DSL modem for PPPoE. Here's my problem. The router configuration requires you to put in the userID and password, then logs you in to your ISP automatically. I DON'T want it to do that. Is there any way to configure for PPPoE where ISP login is controlled manually; i.e., when the user tries to connect to a web page, a dialog pops up for entering the password?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been working on this for hours and getting frustrated! This router has been set up for over a year with no trouble, but recently had trouble connecting with my wireless devices and was kicking my wired (ethernet) laptop off when it is usually on all the time.
Now, my wired connection works through the router, the wireless devices all connect to the network but do not have access to theinternet. From the router's setup page, when I enter my PPPoE information and go to status and connect, it tries to connect a few times then gives me the error message 'cannot get IP address from PPPoE server"
I have tried updating firmware, resetting, restarting, recycling power, chat support with ISP and chat support with Linksys. Have verified my username and key and those are correct otherwise I'd have no internet access at all. I do have wired access but not wireless. The wired connection does go through the router.
Bridging - my modem is a bridging modem only, so it shouldn't be that.
When the ethernet cable is plugged directly into my laptop i can input my user name and password and connect directly without a problem. But as soon as i plug the cable into the router, the activity lights turn off like its not plugged in on the other end...which it is. So when going through the setup process, both using the cd and inputting the information on the web based setup. It does nothing, the automatic setup says the cable isnt plugged in. When using the browser setup i can click connect as many times as i want and it does nothing but say disconnected.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco/Linksys E2500 router that I have had for over a year and it has worked without issues for over a year. However my wireless ISP just switched my CPE from A Mikrotik wireless radio to a Ubiquiti wireless radio. As soon as they did this my PPPOE sessions from the E2500 (acting as my PPPOE client) start disconnecting and reconnecting every few minutes causing major problems with my internet and voip connectivity when it looses connectivity every few minutes.
The strange things is if I connect my much older WRT54G router as a PPPOE client (with the same exact PPPOE configuration), it works just fine and I don't have any PPPOE disconnects.
I upgraded to the latest firmware on my E2500 and nothing changed, it still disconnects my PPPOE sessions probably close to 50 or 100 times an hour.
I'm thinking it's some sort of compatibility issue between the Ubiquiti Nanobridge Radio CPE and the E2500 router acting as my PPPOE client. Also another thought was that perhaps my ethernet port wasn't negotiating speed/duplex correctly on the E2500.
Is there any way to hard code the speed/duplex on an E2500? I can't seem to find any spot with that setting.
I have a Linksys E1000 router just upgrade to the latest 2.1.0.2 firmware...I have a PPPoE connection which used to run smoothly on the router..however off late...suddenly the router stopped connecting..it always shows "connecting" in the status tab of the router page...and eventually says failed to obtain IP address...however when I attach the cable directly into my PC it works just fine.I also had a word with my internet provider...he's kept the MAC open (or something like that) so he said that isn't the issue and he keeps saying there must be some issue with the router. However, occasionally the router DOES connect for half hour or so and then just refuses to connect again !..
View 2 Replies View RelatedNew E900 router drops PPPoE session and gets new IP address randomly every 1-20 hours. Tried different E900, does the same thing. Disabled IPv6, no change. Upgraded FW from 1.0.00 to 1.0.01, no change. I have an SPA112 ATA behind the router and it has to re-register with the VoIP provider every time the IP address changes, so I'm afraid of my call getting dropped if this occurs while I'm on the phone. Using an old WRT54G or a different brand of router it will keep the same PPPoE session for weeks, so it is not the ISP.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHave a v2 E1200. Connect with PPPoE to ISP. IPv4 works fine. With firmware included on router, 2.0.01, it would receive a /64 of IPv6 from the ISP. This /64 would show up under 'status' / 'local network'. Although it did not seem to advertise this space to PC's on my network so I was unable to use it. I updated firmware to 2.0.04. Now it does not even pick up the IPv6 /64 at all.
Anyone have PPPoE and IPv6 working? Anywhere I can download 2.0.01 to try it again?
Is there a model of router that actually works with IPv6?
I recently changed my internet connection to DSL from Cable, so now I'm using PPPoE type of connection.
Right now my router is configured as Automatic DHCP with the modem doing the PPPoE connection. All is fine and well.
Since I own a PS3, and Nat Type 3 conection is really bad for my online gaming, I would like to bridge my modem and connect to the internet through my router. That way I can properly forward my ports, use QoS and effectively get a better connection on the PS3.
I was able to successfully bridge the modem, but the PPPoE config on the router isn't able to connect to the internet.
Modem and router have been reinitialized after the configurations were changed. I do have the username and passwords, and they were properly put on the router.
I'm suffering from an annoying problem with my E4200 router. I have a DSL connection. I have my DSL modem in bridge mode and I have my router set up to sign into my ISP's PPPoE to avoid double-routing. This set up worked marvelously with my previous WRT54G and WRT610N routers. Now the E4200 signs me out of PPPoE every ten minutes or so. I have the connection setting on "Keep Alive" but it seems to be dropping the connection regularly. I took the router back and was given a replacement. The new router is doing the same exact thing and now I am beyond the 30 day return limit so I'm stuck with the E4200. I'm running the latest firmware 1.0.03
I reinstalled the WRT610N and the connection is steady but the WRT610N has its own problems (devices connected via wireless cannot see wired devices and vice-versa). I'd like my new router to actually work properly. I've ruled out errors on my end and given that two brand new units of the E4200 generated the same problem I tend to believe it is a design error.
I have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've recently bought a WRT54GL router, and I`m having some problems with it. The original firmware the router came with had a bug, and couldn`t even connect to a PPPOE network. I downloaded the latest firmware version for this model (4.30.14 build 5, Oct. 26, 2009). Now it can connect to PPPOE but the broadband speed is limited to ~ 30Mbits/s. My ISP normally provides a download speed up to 80-90MBits/s, and if I bypass the router, and connect the internet cable directly to my PC, it works.
The QoS is disabled, so this can`t be the problem, but I searched the internet, and I found that it can be because the router`s CPU is too slow and can`t handle connections up to 80-90Mbit/s download speed, but this sounds a little bit weird to me.Did any of you gus run into this problem? Is it a hardware problem, or a software one? Maybe there`s something I need to set up in the admin interface?
Used an E4200 version 1 to terminate PPPoE on a really high speed connection? By that I'm talking say 400Mb or higher.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having a very difficult time getting my WRT54GS to work with my Westell 6100 modem. I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.
