Nov 13, 2007I have a BEFSR41 V2 working as dial in ADSL connection.While I changed my settings of the UPnP in the router I lost access to the admin page. Well most strange is that everything is working.I kept my internet access as well as the computer and printer access.The only thing I lost is access to the router admin page.The password it was not defaulted to admin, neither kept the password that I had set up.

Nov 3, 2012Here is my Desktop Specs:
Windows XP Svc Pack 3
Mainboard :Asus P5KPL-CM
Network Card :Atheros AR8121/AR8113 PCI-E Ethernet Controller
Current Router - LinkSys BEFSR41 (Hardwired, CATV cable)
Static IP - 192.168.1.100, 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.1.1
Problem: I purchased a new GB router, Dlink DIR825, wireless and 4 ports, and cannot connect to it to set it up. I need to get into it to change its IP address from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 and to make a few other changes. I have 6 different ethernet cables, all of which work with my desktop as well as my laptop. I can get into the new Dlink router just fine with my laptop so it is not a bad port on the new Dlink. The cables work with my existing router and my new router using my laptop so it isn't a cable problem.My internet connection is Hughesnet (DISH) which uses the 192.168.0.1 address, the same as the new router. So here is what I have tried:
1. Powered down Hughes router, new router, and old router.
2. Removed cable from Hughes router to old Linksys.
3. Changed static IP on desktop from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.0.50 and Gateway to 192.168.0.1.
4. Rebooted
5. Connected ethernet cable from desktop to Port 1 on new router.
6. Powered up new router.
7. Brought up Browser and entered the 192.168.0.1. Nothing happens. The Port light on the new switch shows the connection properly and the other lights are on properly, except for the Internet light which I haven't hooked up yet.
The above does not work so I powered down everything and then:
1. Connected the cable from the Hughes internet modem to the Internet port on the new modem.
2. Powered up Hughes modem and waited for all lights to come on.
3. Then powered up new router and waited for all lights to come on. This time the Internet light came on like it should.
4. Powered up my desktop.
5. Brought up Browser and entered the 192.168.0.1. Nothing happens. I expected this since there would be a conflict with the 2 modems having same IP.
Next I tried to basically set my desktop to use DHCP and removed the cable from the Hughes modem to the new router. Powered down everything then brought them up one at a time, Hughes modem, router, and PC. Still not able to connect to the new router.I also used my laptop to set the new router to 192.168.1.1 and reset my static IP to the original 192.168.1.100, 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.1.1. Still nothing and I couldn't even ping the router.
Can't Access Admin Page Through Router?
Jul 3, 2012Moved into a new place, set up a connection. Server provider gives only one mac address, they set it on my router. They say that it should be working, make a restart and that's it. I did that but still no connection. Moreover, I cannot connect through the router at all and therefore cannot access router admin page to configure it either. Now what to do? Password for the router is correct. Even when I take down all the security, still I cannot connect.To be more specific, at first I could enter the router admin page, but since I didn't know how to configure it properly, I made some mistake. I think I choose setting "configure wireless network" and changed something there. After that I cannot access the admin page or connect through the router.

May 7, 2012I have a cradelpoint mbr800 wireless router and an axesstel mv240 usb modem. The modem works fine when plugged straight into my computer, but if I plug it straight in to my router the lights light up like it is aquiring and then go dark. And this cycle just keeps repeating. Now when I plug the usb modem in to my computer I have to push to connect on the start up manager before I can get on the internet. Is this why It will not work plugged straigh in to the router? and if so is there anything I can do to get it to connect through the router? I also can not get to the router admin to look at or change the settings.

Oct 18, 2012I just got back from being gone for a couple weeks and my router stopped working. I tried to reset the router and connect to the admin screen at 192.168.1.1, but it gives a "page not found" error. My internet work with a wired connection to the router, and the computer's IP address is 66.xxx.xxx.xxx. Looking at most forums which talk about this problem it seems like most people have IP addresses starting with 192. Why does mine start with 66? Is this related to the problem of being unable to access the admin screen? This is a home network and I'm running Ubuntu and have a Linksys WRT54G router. I get the same IP address whether I connect just from the modem to the PC, or from modem to router to PC.

Feb 26, 2013I was trying to access the modem router as the admin but AT&T seems to have a pain in the butt security system from me making any changes. I wanted to forward some ports to setup my Synology DS212j Network Attached Storage (NAS). I connected my d-link router to the already setup modem router which I am now connected to. I have to run off to school but I was wondering, would I be able to forward the port off my d-link DIR-601 and be able to host my NAS server off that?
I don't have too much in-depth networking experience besides setting forwarding ports, setting static IPs, but I can't do that since I am not the admin for the AT&T router. I figure the password for the AT&T router is just defaulted to admin or blank but I haven't had time to fully test everything out.

Whenever I go to connect to 192.168.1.1 in my Web Browser, it just sits there trying to connect and does nothing. But eventually after some minutes I get the error: 'This web page is not available The web page at http://192.168.1.1/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. I tried pressing the reset button on the back of my router, but it would just sit there with the green power LED and another green LED just flashing constantly (I assume this is the ethernet 1 cable LED) and this happens for more than 10 minutes.
All I want to do is just port forward my game servers again without the use of Hamachi or other programs

Jan 28, 2010BEFSR81 v3.1 Current firmware 2.51.4 build 600 (09-4-2009)The Web Admin pages become dysfunctional after the router has been up 3-4 days displaying only a blank white page. Viewing the page source shows that the HTML is incomplete.I am not sure of the exact firmware version where this problem originates, I noticed it after flashing to 2.51.4 build 400 but cannot remember which version was running before the update. Just flashed to 2.51.4 build 600 last week hoping the new version had corrected the problem. Still broken.The router remains completely functional but the Web interface does not work correctly after 3-4 days.I have tried re-flashing the firmware and have gone as far as resetting the router both before and after the flash, even tried 30/30/30 resets but the problem with the Web interface remains.Re-booting the router every 3 days is not the best “solution” as my network is running DHCP. I would rather not fall back to older firmware as ver 2.51.4 build 400 corrected the DHCP errors on my Windows machines and decreased the initial connection time when machines boot up. I have read in this and other forums where others are having the same problem with this router/firmware but have been unable to find a working solution which leads me to believe the actual problem resides in the later firmware builds.

I've tried 4 times, and every time, i've got to hold the reset button to reset to factory settings in order to access the management pages! I enter the new password in both fields, and then click to save the settings. It restarts. Then i try to log in - and it doesn't accept the new password. It doesn't accept the default password. I've tried with admin/(new password) and (new password)/(new password), and admin/admin. None of them work, forcing me to reset router to factory settings. I've tried a password composed of 6 letters followed by a . Thinking that maybe the . was throwing it off, I tried 6 letters followed by 3 numbers. That doesn't work either. I've updated to firmware version 2.0.1.5. No luck.

Mar 6, 2013I took one and a half hours to get everything set up, I've got a PPoE connection, my problem is that ever since I entered the administration interface each and every page takes 2-5 minutes to load, it's absurdly slow, also, when trying to setup my WiFi, it timed out several times, I updated the router to the latest firmware, the same issue, it took me 4-5 retries to get WiFi set up properly. Sometimes navigating from page to page is quicker, 30-40seconds, but still those are some big times.
Is this normal behavior or do I have a hardware problem and I need to take it back and request a new one?
Mention: I am wired from a laptop, all the lights are blue, blinking nicely.

First few times I thought I could resolve it by unplugging/plugging router & modem so they can "re-syn" to the cable connection. That still works but now it occurs sometimes multiple times within a few minutes/hours and then won't happen again for an entire day/days. The other day I had connectivity but instead of the usual 5 bars I only had 3 while using my laptop in the same spot in the house as usual.

After some time (weeks) after a successful local login to the admin page subsequent attempt to login just hang. After entering the admin password the page changes and says "Waiting" under revolving circles. It will sit there for over 1 hour. I have tried IE, chrome and firefox on Windows 7 and Windows 8 on three different machines and it behaves the same. Of course I have to go through this same process with the support people every time and every time they come to the conclusion that I have to do a factory reset. But so far Linksys denies that there is a defect.
