I recently reset my router as I did not know my password and I needed to find out what the WEP was. Now the internet light will not come on. I have followed instructions on setting up the router as if it were new and still no luck.
View 3 Replieslast Monday night, out internet just stopped working completely. We had an older Livebox (Inventel) and after phoning tech support, we were told it was a problem with the router. The problem was with the "@" symbol flashing about once a second. Anyway, they sent over a new router. This was the netgear1000. We set it up and the Internet light stayed red - all the other lights that are meant to be green are green.. We checked the details against what was on the personal detail card they sent over with the router and all of that was correct. It even shows the upload and download speed even though we cannot connect to the internet. When I check the status, it states that the LCP is ready to come up or something along those lines and that the CHAP authentication failed. I phoned them up again and they couldn't solve the problem so it's being moved up to a different department apparently. Anyway, I don't get how it can be an error with the username and password if my old router just stopped working with nothing being changed. The phone line is fine and the tech guy even changed our password.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a netgear MR814 router that is not connecting to the internet. A few days ago my wireless was SO slow that I disconnected and did a powercycle (which usually works when wireless drops off now and then) but then it did not connect to the modem anymore. The ports 1, 4, wireless, and power lights are on but the internet light is off. I know it's not a modem problem because I can hardwire the modem to my laptop and get on internet. I've tried a few things suggested on this forum and elsewhere (maybe I shouldn't have messed with it?) but nothing has worked to resolve the problem. When I am connected to the router I cannot access the routerlogin and the ipconfig/release/renew shows that wireless lan media is disconnected.

I previously asked if I should be concerned that the Internet light on my Linksys E3000 router doesn't light up when I have Internet access. Well recently I had to do a reset and I noticed that during the reset it does in fact light up, but it doesn't come on when the router is done with the reset!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Qwest DSL 7MB internet with a motorola 3347 Qwest model modem and for some reason throughout the day sometimes fewer than than others my internet light will just go red for about 45 seconds up to 2 to 3 minutes them it starts flashing green again? I called them multiple times but they just say maybe its the modem. Is there any test I can do to see? I upgraded the firmware to the newest one to see if that would work but no luck.

Today I finally upgraded my ISP to cable (from a slower DLS connection) to get reasonable speed/price All is working very well but unlike my old DSL modem the internet status light on the DIR-655 blinks very rapidly all the time instead of when traffic is passed.The new modem is a Motorola SB6141,I am running the latest firmware 1.35NA I went through a complete re-setup to see if that would calm the light but no dice there. (the settings arrived at were basically the same for the old Sprint modem) ,Is there something I am missing or is it time to retire the old DIR-655 for something more current.

(or something like that).Basically we pinned the problem down to it not having the strength to keep several connections running through it. So we upgraded to a Billion 7800n and found it is much more stable and much faster.However it has been having a similar problem to our previous router.
Occasionally the internet light drops from green to orange, and we can't load any more pages until it has gone back to green.Here is a picture of what it looks like when in that status.But the weird thing is the connection bars on the windows toolbar at the bottom of the screen still show full strength.As shown here.Now I thought it might be because it was sharing a power board with other connections going through it,so I transferred it to a smaller two-plug one instead.

Figgured it was just the phone lines down, but connectiong directly to the modem I found I had connectivity. The WRT54GL (flashed with DD-WRT) doesn't pick up the WAN IP, I've checked with multiple ethernet cables, 2 different modems (all of which work fine with our computers, providing connectivity) and am currently using the router that the WRT54GL displaced ~8 years ago. I'm assuming it's just dead, but wanted a second opinion... kinda odd that a surge would have come through the phone line, through a DSL modem and killed the WAN port of the router instead of taking out the modem?

In the past everything was working fine (had same computer connected wireless + wire) never had this disconnection. Now, I have a laptop connected using wireless & desktop wired but this disconnection is becoming so irritating. It is not only that I lose the internet connection, I lose the DSL like (as if the modem is turned off then on) and all my files over the LAN are either lost during transmission or something else.
Yesterday I bought the Linksys Wireless-N Home ADSL2+ Modem Router WAG120N (Annex-A version). I configured the modem/router and it was working very well. Today I was surfing the internet just fine and I left my computer for a few minutes, when I came back I noticed that there is no internet connection. The internet light on the modem was no longer on, and the DSL one was blinking. I turned off the device and then turned it back on but the issue was still present. I tried restoring the factory default settings and configuring the modem again but nothing seems to work (resetting the modem, turning off every device connected to it and restarting the modem/router). The DSL light keeps blinking, turns off for a couple seconds and then starts blinking again. The internet light only appears when I restart the modem and it flashes red just after turning the device on.

Does not appear to interupt internet access yet last only a second (at the longest),so don't know if I would notice. Am connected to DSL modem and see no change it its indicator lights,(traffic, collision, lan), when it occurs on the DIR-655. Have three PC's and a network (LAN) printer as well as wireless enabled. The other day I was in the middle of downloading an upgrade for the router when Firefox gave me this message: "Firefox can't find the server". I was no longer able to access the internet, and the router's green power light was left flashing. It flashed for over 24 hours. I tried unplugging the router and shutting down the computer, then plugging in the router and turning on the computer. (I don't have a modem.) The light was still flashing. I tried pressing the logo button for 5 seconds. Still flashing. Tried pressing the reset button in the back. Still flashing. 'I can't get on the internet or into the router. View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from a DSL ISP (Earthlink, Zyxel modem configured as a bridge, pppoE connect) to a cable ISP (Comcast, Arris cable modem, dhcp connect). Basically PC --> DIR615-->Cable modem-->Internets. With the old DSL the Internet activity LED (green, looks triangular) on the DIR615 blinked only when internet activity occurred. With the new Comcast connection it blinks non-stop about 5 times a second! Even if the PC is turned off it blinks. It stops blinking if I disconnect the ethernet cable between router and modem. The connection itself is fine, but if the DIR615 is doing something it should not be doing it might slow the connection down a bit, (or burn something out prematurely?)FYI, the Arris cable modem does not seem to be a router. It takes a cable connection from outside and provides a single ethernet cable and 2 (voice) telephone cables to the house.

Last week the Verizon-supplied DSL modem went bad (wasn't receiving data) and was replaced.
Now I can get Internet direct out of modem, and when I connect it to router the router's Internet light is on, but it seems to stop there. Devices connected to router via Ethernet or wifi don't get Internet.
I'm able to get to the router's admin console via Ethernet and wifi, but no Internet.
Belkin n wireless router model number F5D8236 v1! my modem is showing an internet connection but my router "modem" light is flashing orange and my internet light doesn't even come on. we are not sure but we believe this became a problem last night after my daughter connected her new lap top to the wireless connection.

For the first couple days I had some issues getting consistant internet but after reading some stuff on here I downgraded to the version 8 hardware and it worked GREAT for about 3 days. I had Purchased a brand new TP-Link WifI Modem Router TD-W8961ND with S/N : 12CB5200872 from [URL] and it got delivered few days back. When I am trying to connect it to the internet the modem is not getting connected nor configured. The Power button light, ADSL Light and internet light are continuously blinking and nothing is getting steady. The modem is appearing to be a damaged piece of modem and it is very unfortunate that we have got a modem from flipkart in an unserviceable condition. It came with a warranty of 03 years and I wanted a replacement so that I can use the modem for connecting internet.
A couple days my Internet just disappeared.Every time i go to connect to the Internet from any device net gear does not show up. I restarted evrything many times but no luck.
