Jul 15, 2011I've recently moved house and decided to go with Virgin as my ISP. I was able to connect one laptop (running Windows 7), with no hassle, to the internet just fine, however, I've tried connected another laptop (running Windows Vista) and can connect to my router but cannot connect to the internet and it's telling me it cannot identify the network =/ I also can't connect to the internet if I use my ethernet cable. I phoned up tech support also and they recommended I update my drivers, but Windows is telling me I have the most up to date driver for my network adapter.

Feb 11, 2013i have 9 pcs on a lan. when i attempt to view the workgrp i get a message that indicates the the workgrp is not accessible and network path not found. i have tuned off windows and mcafee firewalls so that the only firewall functioning is with the modem/router(netopia) if i change the workgrp to the default(mshome) i can see the pcs.

Jan 29, 2011I have 3 laptops running through a wireless lan. All laptops connect to the router, and 2 of them connect through to the internet. One of them will not connect to the internet. I have tried using an ethernet cable connection, and this did not work either. The more worrying thing for me (not being so computer literate) is that I could not even get a response when I pinged the modem when it was connected with a cable to the PC. The network sharing centre says that I have a default gateway access issue or that "wireless network connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration, I have lost the ability to print with wifi and my Sonos system now no longer connects. I also get a media disconnected message when I do an ipconfig.

Mar 16, 2012I have dir-655 that I have wired to an LG BD-570 bluray. I have a couple of issues that may all be related:
1. Netflix loads shows very slowly
2. When using PlayOn and trying to access script content (i.e. TvLinks, etc) I get a "network may be congested" error
3. I can't update the firmware on the LG when it calls for an update. I get a message that it cannot connect to the server.
It should be noted that when I skip the router and daisy chain through my computer's ethernet port 2 and enable "internet sharing" on ethernet port 1 (coming direct from my modem) none of these problems seem to exist.

Nov 24, 2011My windows 7 computer was connected to my home's wireless network yesterday perfectly normally. I drove last night to my mother's house and proceeded to connect to her own wifi router wirelessly. Although my sister's computer that's on windows 7 connects ably, and both our iPhones connect, my computer will not. My computer finds the network( it is unsecured without a password if that makes a difference ) connects, receives an ipv4 address in ipconfig, yet does not obtain Internet access. But i could only manage to setup 'one way' - the XP Home could access the Windows 7 Ultimate but not the other way Whenever i double click on the XP Home, it will prompt me to login. But no matter what i enter, it will say its wrong. What weird is the 'domain'. The login dialog will show that im login into 'Domain: Windows7PC' when im trying to login into the XP. And after i have enter 'wrongly', it will show the username as 'Windows7PCusername' and ask to try again - it means im login into the Windows 7 And if i try to prefix the PC's name in front - \WindowsXPusername then it will prompt \WindowsXP is not accessible..... The specified username is invalid

Apr 24, 2013From Chrome when I try to download from a file sharing site I get "Unknown network error". And from firefox I get "source file could not be read". From internet explorer it just stops. The downloads don't even get halfway thew before failing. I didn't have this problem with this computer previously before I moved. I'm using the same access point and same internet connection. One thing I notice is that windows network center shows at times that I'm not connected to the internet but I'm still able to browse and use the internet. The disconnected icon only lasts for a few seconds in network center.So I think its some kind of settings or access point issue. The other PCs using the network have no problem connecting to the server. Also, the internet connection is shared from the server and I have no trouble with it. On the basis of other postings on this subject, I have tried restoring an earlier restore point, uninstalling/reinstalling the network adaptors, have tried to run net localgroup Administrators /add networkservice & /add localservice, have tried adding permissions for mpssvc in regedit (DSP parameters). Unable To Map Network Drivers Anymore (error Code 0x80070035)
Aug 11, 2011Im having this problem at work where im trying to map my folders within our server, i used to be able to do so but as if out of nowhere i couldn't do so anymore, our network support said everything is fine with our server and the problem is probably something with my laptop.
Im using a laptop with windows 7 Home Premium 64bits
My network adapters are:
Intel Centrino Ultimate - N6300 AGN
Intel 82577LC Gigabit Network Connection
Im able to ping my server just fine, left only one of these microsoft 6to4 adapters, tried turning off my AVG and Firewall, sharing devices and printers is enabled, Netbios is enabled.
Oh, and my antivirus is AVG free.

Feb 24, 2011OS: Windows Vista Home Premium?Trying unsuccessfully so far to reconnect a client machine to a wireless network that it has been on for a year or so.ISP was down for about 2 hours the other day and when it came back up, the client machine started getting the IP address conflict. Went in to release and renew and got the following error messages:
on release: An error occurred while releasing interface Wireless Network Connection: An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint.
on renew: The DHCP client has obtained an IP address that is use on the network. The local interface will be disabled until the DHCP client can obtain a new address.
The next thing I tried was to go in an give a manual IP address to the Wireless Adapter. But the TCP/IP properties are greyed out and I receive the following error message:Some of the controls on this property sheet are already open. Sharing :: Error Code - 0x80070035 Network Path Not Found
Feb 12, 2011On my home LAN I have computers running Ubuntu 10.10, Win XP, Win7 32 bit and Win 7 64 bit, as well as an Iomega Home Network Media Drive. I can share files and folders between Ubuntu and XP without problem. I can CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) to the Iomega device from all the computers. I can share folders when using the 64-bit Win 7 computer that are located on the XP computer.
I can see the 'users/Public' folder on the 64bit Win 7 computer from the XP computer (but that folder being empty, this access is not a lot of use - a secondary probelm). I cannot see my 'user name' files/folders on the Win 7 computer from the XP computer
From Computer, Network on the Win 7 computer I can see the Ubuntu computer by name (approximately - it's all in upper case, which is not correct as far as Ubuntu is concerned).
I cannot access files on the Ubuntu computer via its name - I receive the usual 'network path not found' error, inviting me to check the spelling of the computer, which I can see is wrong, but which I can find no way to correct.
If I try to access the Ubuntu computer by IP address, then I am presented with an 'Enter Network Password' panel. I have never allocated a network password, so I have no idea what user name or password to enter here. If I enter my valid account name forthe Win 7 machine, along with its valid password, then a Logon failure is reported: 'unknown user name or bad password'. If I use the single valid user name and password for the target Ubuntu computer, I receive the same failure message. I thought I had set the same user name on both computers (I certainly have the same password), but for reasons best known to Bill Gates, the username on the Win 7 computer has been initially capitalised, making it absolutely not the same as any valid user name on the Ubuntu computer.
So, in short, I can find no way to access the Ubuntu computer from Win 7. Further more the Ubuntu computer cannot see the Win 7 computer in the windows network at all.
I have the same internet security software (Comodo) running on all Windows computers. It is enabled on the XP computer. It is disabled on the Win 7 computer - but with no effect on the failure to connect.
