Am running a netgear wgr614v6 as my main router and a buffalo air station as a bridge to the net gear so I have Internet in my living room without wires
I have cable Internet and I have had to constantly reset router to get it o work. Even when on main computer a web page will fail to load two three times abnd then will work. I am at my wits end and don't want to buy a new router for fear of having to set up the bridge again and make an error when doing so.
One of my laptops is having a connection problem. I have 3 other laptops that can connect perfectly with my router, and normally there's only 1 laptop that is connected to my router. The laptop with the slow connection (takes 5 HOURS to load a website, sometimes will not even load), i re-installed the OS, and installed all the drivers needed, and it still wont work. it shows strong connection to me, and im sure the password for the router is right. below is the ipconfig/all information. Having this problem for 2+ weeks now!!! I think this problem started when i restored my router to factory setting, my router is Netgear WGR614v6.
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop and Netgear WGR614v6 that connect wirelessly, however I cannot connect to the internet. I can however connect the laptop to other wireless connections with no problem (ie McDonalds), and can connect other laptops to the router with no problems (ie company laptop).
I am trying to instal my Netgear router. It is asking for the Preferred DNS name and the alternate DNS name? I got the IP address and the other required fields but I'm not sure about eh DNS thing?
Newbie post, but I have just retired from IT management which included running large scale wired and wi-fi networks for many thousands of users...but I am stumped.

PS I have not posted the Xirrus screen print at the moment as I am not to keen on folks knowing the mac addresses of my kit etc. Would prefer to PM if necessary, but while working.
I have tried opening the ports on xboxs website. tried dmz. tried both. i have a basic understanding of changing your xboxs ip.i have disabled windows firewalls and got rid of macafee altogether.
I have a netgear n600 router and in the room its in i get around 50 down and 12 up but in other rooms it drops significantly(the highest ive gotten is 11 down in other rooms). is there any setting i can go into.
My net drops off every 20secs like clockwork, only affecting the wireless.I bought a new router yesterday to see if that would work, but it hasn't. At the moment, my router is connected to the modem, and my computer upstairs is running through the wireless connection from the router (not the modem)
My router is a NetGear N600 Wireless Dual Band... and my modem is a NetGear Rangemax wireless My computer is running Windows 7 and has a Realtek RTL8191SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter(im connecting to my network via the 2.4ghz... not the 5ghz)I've tried doing the whole, ipconfig/ release
i have decided to take on the 3G strategy by using some powerful equipment to boost my 3G and obtain internet access, (accessible no problem)however in my "kit" includes a huwaii mifi device which i will be using along with a crc9 to connect to my military spec booster to pick up 3G and get better internet speeds than anyone in the area.problem i have is with the mifi router, it has small wireless range.i have a strong transmitter to use with my standard router, now what i want to do is bridge the mifi with a a/g/n router and all devices connect to the router that will provide better coverage due to the 3g kit and mifi will be very close together in the roof space and away from the other devices on ground floor.can i bridge mifi with a wireless router so connections will run through the lets say, belkin router.
I bought this ( Belkin N150 Wireless Modem Router with Push Button Security Set Up and Network Status Display (F6D4630uk4A): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories )I want to use this instead of the modem I have now. Is it possible to make this my modem to connect to from the internet? I have a cheap talktalk modem and I want to get rid of it.
My D-Link 802.11g/2.4GHz Wireless Broadband Router is not turning on. None of the lights turn on. I have checked all the cords, and they are all properly plugged it. My laptop can not wireless connect.Model # of D-Link Router: DI-524
I have a Motorola Surfboard cable modem with a Comcast account that is supposed to get "up to 15 mps". My desktop works gloriously, but my laptops and everything else hooked up to the net through my Media link Wireless N Router either run incredibly slow, or get kicked off completely.I've already had the router replaced one.
I have a CANYON Wireless N Router CNP-WF514N1A. It was working properly, but I changed its deafult password to my own . (192.168.0.1 -> wireless security -> new pass -> okay -> reboot computer ). After I restarted the computer, the router stopped working. The lights on it are fine, and if I plug the net cable into the computer I have internet too. The problem is, if I plug the cable into the router, I don't have internet. And I can't open 192.168.0.1 either.
I have done all the resets, factory resets, hard resets, and any other names. When I attempt to enter any sort of IP addresses, default Belkins and ones I see when viewing ipconfig, all it does is perform a Google Search with the numbers.Again, turning on wireless on my laptop and phone fail to find my router, which used to just be called "Belkin".Here is all the info that I believe you need:

I have a Compaq mini CQ10-100 Netbook, and I am trying to Make a Wireless internet connection through a D-link router. My ISP is Cox Cable. The Netbook is connected to my wireless network, but will not connect to the internet. It keeps asking me to transfer information, via thumb drive, from a wireless access point, but my router is my wireless connector and it doesn't have a USB port to plug in a thumb drive. How do I get this netbook hooked up to the internet?
I'm currently writing this from a laptop. It can access the internet perfectly, with no dropouts and no speed issues. However, my desktop PC is a different story. When I purchased the PC, it came with a standard wireless PCI adapter which really wasn't doing the job. It couldn't pick up my router from just one story above, where my laptop could. I decided to buy a new wireless adapter that would hopefully fit the bill. Unfortunately, again it didn't pick up the router from downstairs. Trying a different tack, I purchased the Netgear WRN2000 as an access point that would increase the range of my router. I connected my PC to this after configuring and all was going well for a while, until now. Now, every 1-2 minutes, the internet will slow to a crawl for 30 seconds or so, and while comparing speeds via the laptop (connected directly to the main router) and via the PC (connected through the extender to the router), the laptop clearly has the speed advantage. This is more noticable when playing games on my PC, such as Call of Duty. Every 1 minute or so, the game becomes unplayable due to lag for around 30 seconds, and sometimes this happens constantly. I'm unable to work out if the WRN2000 has a problem, or if it's interference. I actually tried connecting my PC to my laptop via ethernet, and bridging the 2 connections, which seemed to work for a day or so, but now does not. Also, i'd be willing to purchase a new PCI wireless card if anyone has any recommendations for one that has a strong signal range.
Netgear WGR614v7 Router.I have three computers wi-fi networked via the Netgear router: a laptop, a Mac Mini, and a XBox 360.About 30% of the time, when I wake my laptop up, it's been dropped from the network. The only thing that seems to allow it to connect again is if I unplug the power from the router and plug it back in again. This also happens to the XBox 360 once and a while. It never happens to the Mini. I suspect the Mini never gets dropped because it never gets turned off or goes to sleep. Some things I've tried to no avail:
- restarting my laptop - manually reconnecting to the network via the icon in the system tray - ipconfig /release, /renew - disabling power management on my network adapter - updating my router's firmware
My research keeps pointing to my router's "idle timeout" setting, though that may or may not actually be the problem. In my router setup, I currently have the "Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?" setting set to No. When it's set to No, I do not have access to my Idle Timeout setting. If I set Login Required to Yes, I do have access to Idle Timeout, but none of my computers can connect, and I'm unsure how to get that working properly. I've read that if I set Idle Timeout to 0 (zero), it essentially never times out.
I need the capability to log into the 3g/4g modem and change the Wan IP address. Doe anyone know of a 3g/4g modem that allows you to do that. My other option would be to disable the wireless radio on the 3g/4g router and connect my Linksys Wireless router that I know I can log in and change the WAN Ip. It looks like to me that this model below would allow me to do that?MBR1516 Will turning off wireless radio on the 3g/4g router completely turn off all routing or could there be a conflict with my Linksys wireless router?
See attached diagram, which shows me using the tp-link router to protect my internal network from the guest network for internal security.Should I put the tp-link router into a DMZ on the first main Orcon router to be able to make remote access form the web into my network? I have an IP camera etc that I need to access from the WWW. If I do this does this have any security implications; both for my network or the guestsMy reasoning is not; as the TP-Link still acts as my firewall and the specific address of the TP-Link doesn't affect the guest, but I thought I'd check with the Pros!?
I was in an online game with my wife when I lost my internet connection. We are on the same Lynksys wireless-B router. My pc is running win7, hers has win8. I could not reconnect but could connect if I went directly into the modem. I have Comcast cable.

The setup looks like this:I have a core swith (HP Procurve) which is connected to Cisco router ( which is ISP router).I have to create vlans and do intervlan between them and reach the ISP router.I created two vlans on HP Core Switch ( apart from default vlan 1) , vlan 99 ip add 10.110.234.1 subnet 255.255.255.128 and vlan 999 ip add 10.110.234.129 subnet 255.255.255.128,vlan 1 ip add 10.110.232.42 subnet 255.255.254.0.tagged the ports of vlan 99 and vlan 999 in vlan 1. I am able to do intervlan routing, but i cannot reach router which is 10.110.232.1 subnet 255.255.252.0.I tried these scenrio on packet tracer, it is working fine.
I am just confused over the fact that a router configured with 10.1.1.1 address (assuming it's got 255.255.255.0 mask) can communicate to a PC connected to one of it's LAN ports and manually setup to have 10.1.1.2/8 address. I was sure that since these are two different subnets they won't see each other. But they do and searched wiki and just googled to see why, but with no success. A friend of my friend says something about 'same range' but it makes little sense to me.
I just need a good article about it or a crystall clear explanation, because I feel my understanding of IP is not as good as I used to believe.
I have att dsl and they supplied me with a modem, a motorola model type 2210, and my belkin surf N300 router is giving me issues connecting to the internet. Im pretty sure my wireless network adapter is a netgear wg311v3.The issue im having is that sometimes i can connect to the internet just fine, and sometimes i cant connect to the internet. I know it is a router issue because when i plug the modem into my comp, i can access the internet 100% fine.I also think it is not a wireless network adapter issue because i ran an ethernet cable from the router to my comp and had the same issues. There are 2 other computers on the network, one of them is a year or two newer than my dell desktop, and has no issues whatsoever connecting to the internet via the router. The other computer on the network is a Wii, and has connection issues when playing online (probly a different issue), but can access the internet no problem.
I am doing my college project(Client Server Chat Application in C#). I need to transfer all the data of my application through a VPN tunnel. I want to create a IPSEC VPN tunnel through which I can route the Data. I am low On budget I am not inclined towards buying any Hardware. So is it necessary to purchase a Router or a Network Interface Card To create A IpSec VPN.
I set up the password through WPA-PSK, the problems come up. My laptop, HP G62-465DX and my Ipod Touch can connect by inputting the passcode but the other laptop in my family, HP G72-b60us, cannot connect to the router once the passcode is set up because the laptop claims that it is incompatible with the router when it was before. Also, my wireless printer HP Officejet 4500 wireless G510 n-z does not work when the passcode is set-up.
I have recently changed my ISP and as such now have a modem router from them, however I used to have a seperate modem connected to my own router that I have already set up to have port forwarding to my CCTV, DVR and networked storage (Built into exsistine router).Since connecting the new modem router to my exsisting router I have been unable to access the CCTV, DVR and Storage from outside my LAN.
I guess this is because the devices are on the client list of my old router and not on my modem router. Is there anyway I can access the old port forwards through the new modem router, it used to be a matter of just xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9966 for example but now this would try to access the modem router and not the router it's connected to.
I have not found any options to disable the router side of it to make it act as just a modem. The hardware is a Virgin Media Super Hub model connected to a D-Link Dir-685.For arguments sake the IP address of my D-Link is 192.168.0.1 and the Super hub is 192.168.100.
I have a little problem with installing my new router. There were quite a lot of problems with the old smc, so I've bought a TP-Link router. I installed it just alright, it said congratulations, you have internet. I don't have though, not even on the directly plugged computer. It's kind of frustrating, since the old router is still working like before. So I plugged an ethernet cable from the old router's lan to the tp-link wan and with that, the new network is working just fine. The problem with the internet access occurs only, if the router is directly plugged to the modem. (The computers do find the network but the connection is kind of offline.) I don't really know what could be the problem, since I'm a little new to routers. I've read almost everything in the new router's manual and I'm pretty sure it's installed correctly. (ADSL username and password copied from the old settings, mac address copied, all ip addresses pinged, done power cycle etc..) I thought about resetting the modem, but I'm a bit afraid of losing the old router's internet connection as well.
i have a dlink-615 router and im wondering if i can configure it the best way possible to work best with wireless devices, like my laptop.there are 4computers running on my network and i want to get the best result possibly for my connection.can i change settings in the routers configuration page so 1 computer can have 90% of the signal or bandwidth of the connection.i want to decrease the other 3family members connectivity to my router, like limit their use of the network or signal/speed/bandwidth strength?
I am having a problem with my router disconnecting every time that I close a browser window. I am pretty sure that it is a problem with either my Desktop or my WiFi usb card that is connected to my Desktop. I have tested this on my laptop and it doesn't seem to have the same issue. Has any heard of this or does any have a solution to how I can get this working correctly?
