Realtek RTL8188CU Wireless USB 802.11n Slow On Windows XP?

Jun 24, 2012

When I install a micro-wifi-usb 802.11n with "Realtek RTL8188CU" on a old notebook with Windows XP I get maximum 1.5 to 2Mbits/s. Though installed on a newer notebook with Windows 7 I get 30Mbits/s.Other wifi-usb, Cisco Linksys WUSB100v2 does work on that Windows XP machine at 30Mbit/s, but the dongle is much larger The router Cisco WRT320N is just 5meters away and I always have excellent signal strength.I tried some other drivers without any luck. On the site of Realtek I don't find any driver except with some letter diverence at the end of RTL8188CU, which I also tried.

Jul 18, 2011

I have a Gigabyte motherboard that ive just installed into my dads new PC and the gigabit LAN has started taking 60 seconds to connect to router, very annoying...sitting with browser open waiting for it too connect... the issue seem to first appear during windows updates, i uninstalled device driver, rebooted and reinstalled the driver off disk... this sorted the issue.. THEN windows installed more updates, however these were nothing to do with networking (Office updates) and its back ...ive tried downloading the driver from gigabyte (newer) but still the problem persists...

Dlink Router To Windows XP Computer With Realtek Wireless Card?

Dec 21, 2012

trying to connect an old PC to my home wireless network.I brought home a PC I have used for years at my office. I have it configured with a Realtek wireless card and was able to connect it to my office wireless network without a problem. But, when I try to set it up at home, it won't take. I have a dlink router that is working fine with several Mac computers in my home, so I know the router and network are up and running fine. The PC uses Windows XP. The icon in the lower right corner says dlink is connected and there is strong signal strength. However, when I check the dlink status, it shows that 2,573 "packets" are sent, while "0" are received.I've tried to connect to the internet using Mozilla, Safari, and Explorer. Each says the server cannot be found and that the internet is not connected.

Windows 7 ASUS Realtek 8111e Can't Connect To Internet?

Mar 10, 2012

About two weeks ago, I took out the old motherboard of my HP computer and put in a new ASUS M4A88T-M. The board is amazing, especially for the money, except that I can't connect to the internet. So, for the last two weeks I've power-cycled about a billion times, ipconfig /this/that/and the next thing over and over, I've winsocked, I've turned programs on and off and on again, checked that the LAN is enabled in BIOS, firewall is off, and probably a bunch other things from the 100's of google pages I've searched.I spent 45 minutes on the phone with my ISP, and the guy was 99% sure there is something wrong with the NIC. Windows says that the device is working correctly, and I think that it is. There must be some setting, some driver, something that will reconnect me to the internet.

Realtek PCIe FE Losing Connectivity In Windows 7 Home 64-bit?

Mar 23, 2012

I am having an intermittent problem with my network connection dropping out for no apparent reason. When it drops, I still see the lights blinking on the NIC card, but cannot pass packets even to the router.Windows does not report the connection or the cable as disconnected when this problem is occurring. The problem will persist until I disconnect and reconnect the CAT-5e wire, or disable and re-enable the NIC.As soon as I do one of those 2 things, connectivity immediately returns (and works for another hour or so).I am running a legitimate copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on an HP Pavilion. All of the latest Windows updates and the latest firmware drivers are installed. My ethernet connection is a wired Local Area Connection with a static IP address, gateway and DNS.The IP address, gateway and DNS settings are accurate and work for several other computers here.[CODE]

Receive Buffer Size on the NIC is 64Kb (512 buffers). Receive Side Scaling on. 128 Transmit Buffers.Interrupt Moderation is turned on. Magic Packet features are turned off. Optimal Performance enabled.NIC Speed and Duplex are set to 100mbps Full Duplex wherever possible (automatic was also tried).802.1X authentication (EAP or PEAP) is disabled. Auto connection logic is disabled.Connection routes through two switches into a Belkin router; other devices on same networks unaffected.Much of my data is stored on a Network Attached Storage device, with UNC shares mapped to drive letters.Other Windows, Mac and Linux devices connected to the same NAS device have no problems staying connected. When the issue occurs, I can't ping the gateway, do DNS lookups or pass any packets as far as I can tell.I have tried swapping out the CAT-5e cables for other cables and even ran them through a cable tester.

Network fixes I have attempted from the OS level so far include:

~ Switching the dynamic port range to start at 10,000 and run for approximately 54,000 ports

~ Systematically reviewing every running service to make certain that only the essential ones are on

~ Disabling all NIC stacks except Client for Microsoft Networks, IPv4, File and Printer Sharing and Comodo

~ Attempted connections with Comodo turned completely off and its NIC driver disabled

~ Attempted rolling back the RealTek driver to an earlier one from the same family and device line

Using netsh I have tried the following settings:

~ netsh winsock reset catalog
~ netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
~ netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
~ netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled

Wireless Network Slow To Initialize In XP - Windows 7 Fine?

Mar 6, 2012

my machine is set up to dual boot Windows XP Professional Edition and Windows 7 Home edition. I had Windows XP installed on this machine first because it is 10 years old and I wasn't sure how well it would work with Windows 7. I decided to test out Windows 7 a few months after using Windows XP on here and noticed the wireless network was started right when Windows 7 loaded, where as in Windows XP it can take anywhere from 1-3 minutes for the wireless network to load. In this 1-3 minute time frame on Windows XP any browser or attempted connection to the internet 'hangs' and does not display a time out, it just continues to try and connect until the wireless icon finally shows in the taskbar

Windows 7 Pro 64bit Machine - Wireless Connection Very Slow And Dropping Regularly

Dec 31, 2011

It's a Windows 7 Pro 64bit machine with a (newly installed) Asus P8H67 pro motherboard and an Edimax ew-7612pln pci-e card, the router is a thompson 585v8 router with the latest firmware on (upgraded as part of troubleshooting). I upgraded the wireless card drivers one time whilst it was disconnected, it appeared to work for a few hours but then dropped again it also went through a phase of connecting to the router as an 'unidentified network' with no internet access although I don't believe it was attaining an IP address. When it was connected the internet was pretty slow and anything like a file down load would knock it off completely. There were no errors at the time of disconnection in the event log (bar a DNS error or two saying it could not locate the website I was trying to get to before it failed), however the only information type events I noted were a few services stopping and starting and an odd one regarding the host not being able to find the 'master browser' which was identified as another laptop on the wireless network.

The machines are not in the same work group or in a domain, all other laptops and devices on the network work fine and are very stable - as was this one up until a couple of weeks ago. I've uninstalled a couple of pieces of software that were recently installed ; VMware player (which added virtual NICs upon installation and funnily enough made the wireless reconnect after a few hours of downtime upon installation...but the effect was shortlived) and some asus mobo utilities.

I am running on Windows 7 and the wifi adapter is a Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n

RealTek 8187 / Manual Selection Of Wireless Access Point?

Apr 18, 2012

I have a RealTek 8187 USB wireless adapter on my desktop computer that has an associated utility that allows me to manually select which of several competing WAP's to connect to. But that is good only for that particular adapter. My laptop has a different make of adapter that does not have this capability and many of my friends and neighbors lack the capability also. I have a situation where when I turn on my desktop, it automatically connects to a certain WAP, presumably because it has the strongest signal. However, at certain times of the day, traffic or other unknown interference blocks internet access for varying periods of time. I can usually go to my RealTek utility and switch connections to another WAP that has somewhat less signal strength (for example from Channel 1 to Channel 9 -- all within the same Wi-Fi network). Almost always I can restore internet access by doing this.is there generic software available that allows manually selecting WAP channels regardless of the particular brand of wireless adapter being used. Or is there some setting in either Windows XP or Windows 7 that would allow selectively choosing to connect to one channel of a network rather than another even if the signal strength is less.

Wireless Connections Have Disappeared Since Installing Realtek Usb Wifi Booster?

Jan 31, 2013

I am running an ASUS laptop with Windows 7. My wireless has been working fine, but my room is quite far from the router, so I bought a signal-booster USB aerial made by Realtek (REALTEK 11n USB Wireless LAN Driver and Utility). It came with a small software CD too which I installed, and it worked fine for two days and boosted my wireless signal. However (you knew it was coming, the story can't stay happy) soon the red light on the USB booster stopped blinking and it showed the red 'x' where my wifi connections are. I couldn't get it to re-establish a connection without doing a full system restore and re-installing the USB signal booster, which would then work again for a short amount of time (maybe a day, maybe an hour). And worse, now when the USB booster is unplugged from the computer my laptop will not return to recognising wireless connections like it did before I installed the USB signal booster. It simply does not find any connections - the only time it does is directly after I have re-installed the software from the small disc which came with the Realtek USB signal booster.

I have now uninstalled the Software and anything made by Realtek but still it is finding no connections. Now I would just like to find a way to get back to where I started when my computer was finding all wireless connections like normal... a connection with a weak signal is better than this nightmare of constantly restoring my computer just to get a brief connection

Dell Inspiron 7600 / Realtek Wireless Card Not Working?

Feb 7, 2011

I recently bought a new Dell Inspiron 7600 pc running on windows 7 home premium and to enable access to our wireless internet I installed a Realtek 8185 wireless pci adaptor. It has worked fine (although not without the occasional blip) but recently it has stopped working. I could connect to our wireless network but connection came with a small exclamation mark on the wireless connection icon in the system tray. I tried reinstalling the most up to date drivers I could find on the realtek download website and this has removed the problem of the exclamation mark with the wireless connection claiming it now has internet access. However the internet is now so slow (vastly slower than before these problems began) I get timed out errors whenever I try to access any web pages. I have ruled out the router being an issue as my two housemates' computers are working just fine.

Internet Very Slow On Windows 7 64 Bit

I want all of the 4 GB because I am getting BF3 soon) and for my new graphics card (GTX 550ti) so i formatted my Hard Drive after backing everything up on an external Hard Drive. Everything went smoothly until I had to browse the internet. Internet works, but it is very slow. It was working as normal when I had the 32 bit OS. Download Speeds are 8 kbps. I tried using the netsh int tcp set global autotuning=disabled in command prompt but no result. I tried removing and Re-inserting my Wi-fi adapter, no result. I don't want to be forced to downgrade to a 32 bit OS again . I am at a loss here and really want my fast internet back. [code] My Internet Connection is 4MB. My router is a Linksys Wireless-N Router and the Modem is provided by my ISP. The signal strength from the position of my PC is decent but internet is VERY SLOW!

Uploading FTP / Slow Speeds Via Windows Command

First this is my setup, i have a 100x100 mb fiber pipe at a location i am working at. i am comming out of a cisco fiber router to ethernet. i am coming straight from the fiber switch to the computer at a 1gb connection. So my problem is when i try to upload to my ftp server via windows explorer i can never get about 1.5mb, but if i upload via command prompt it goes at about 60mb upload, so the pipe is good. So you say why dont you just use the command prompt, well i have specialized gear here that run xp emmbedded and it does this via the windows explorer. I have tried 4 other computers and they all do the same thing. I tried a UDP video stream and worked at over 10mb stream. but all the ftp uploads cap out at 1.5mb.

D-Link DWL G-550 Upgraded To Windows 7 Internet Is Now Slow

Aug 22, 2012

I upgraded from Vista 64 bit to Win 7 64bit and one of the first things I've noticed was that youtube videos take forever to load, I use to stream on 720p videos in realtime but now even 360p can struggle to load, 480p videos you have to pause for 30 seconds. Oddly, speedtest indicate my full 15mbps down and 1mbps up, regular downloads go fast but streaming youtube, vimeo, or anykind of videos take a while.

My initial guess was that it has something to do with the Wi-fi PCI card. I have D-Link dwl G-550 and on windows compatibility center it says its not supported. Windows 7 automatically detected and installed its own drivers, it works ok.
