Remove Start Menu User Link - Windows 7 Group Policy?

Sep 29, 2011

I'm running a Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition server that is currently the domain controller, and a Windows 7 Ultimate client. I have a 'Test' user for messing around with group policy - anyway, on the client Start Menu it has 'Test User' which leads to some form of libraries folder. Is it possible to restrict the link without removing their name?

Cisco VPN :: ASA 8.4 LDAP Group To ASA Group Policy Mapping?

Jul 31, 2012

I try to map LDAP Group to ASA Group policy following documentation:

[URL]

This is a config for ASA 8.0. I would have expected it to work on 8.4 as well but I do run into problems. The mapping as shown in LDAP Debug and ASA Log will actually happen but it is overwritten by the "GPnoAccess" Group Policy configured locally in the Tunnel Group. From earlier works with RADIUS I would have expected the user specific Attribute to be "stronger"?
ASA Log:

AAA retrieved user specific group policy (correct Policy) for user = XXX
AAA retrieved default group policy (GPnoAccess) for user = XXX

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT610N Storage Link User / Group Creation?

Dec 30, 2008

I just got the WRT610N and I really like it so far, I'm playing with the NAS option and I can't get it to create any new users or groups. I click on the link, fill out the form and click on 'modify user' (The set-up guide has a button there for 'save settings') and nothing gets created. I tried this several times and there are no new groups or users. I checked the storage.info file and there is no additional users or groups there either. I think I can edit that file but I'm not too sure what these last 2 lines mean

Diagnostic Policy Service Cannot Start

Apr 8, 2011

I am Using Windows 7 32-Bit, and my Network usually works fine, and my internet has been working fine up until recently. However about a month (maybe more) I noticed a problem that kept cutting me off occasionally and said Diagnostic Policy was not started, I troubleshooted it and it was fine. Much more recently this has been happening more frequently and troubleshooting it doesn't solve the problem. I can get online for 10-15 Mins then I am cut off again. Restarting the computer often fixes it but not always. I went to Services and found the Diagnostic Policy Service is not running, I press start and receive this error message.

The Diagnostic Policy Service service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by services or programs.I am quite sure my loss of Internet is due to this as this is a network related service and what the troubleshooter always finds to be the problem. Other Computer/Devices in the house connect to the internet fine with no loss of connection so it has nothing to do with that. I have tried various fixes like uninstalling network adapter drivers, and checking permissions in Registry but it has not worked.

Dependency Service Or Group Failed To Start - Error 5

Jul 20, 2011

DHCP Client and Network Location Awareness aren't working. When I tried to start DHCP Client, I got Windows could not start the DHCP Client service on the Local Computer.Error 5: Access is denied. I checked the dependencies and all of them were on. For Network Location Awareness, I got the error Windows could not start the Network Location Awareness on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service cendor, and refer to service-specific error code -1073741288. One of its dependencies is fine, but I don't know how to check the other two, Ancillary Function Driver for Winsock and NetIO Legacy TDI Support Driver. Also, how do I check the event log?Everything on the list that was said to check is running expect these two the lisie was having problems with. I have not had anything with memory recently and have not been able to successfully go through a system restore. I have tried many of the suggestions and just am not sure what to do anymore. The computer works perfectly fine, minus it cannot get on the internet.

Cisco VPN :: Remove Default Isakmp Policy On Router (3845)?

Apr 27, 2011

My company recently failed a PCI scan because our router was returning 56bit des encryption for isakmp negotiation on an existing default isakmp policy. How do I remove this default isakmp policy. I am not running 12.4(15)T1 so the no crypto isakmp policy default does not work. Is there any way other than upgrading the IOS?

Is there any way to configure a maximum number of isakmp policies that an authenticating router will check? I have 2 configured higher priority ISAKMP policies. Maybe if there is a command to limit the number of isakmp policies the router checks, that would eliminate this default policy being matched?

Computer Won't Detect Ethernet Cable - Dependency Service Or Group Failed To Start

Mar 7, 2012

My roommate and I are trying to set up the internet, but my computer won't detect the Ethernet Cable. Whenever I go to Network and Sharing Center and try connecting to the internet, the computer simply says "Windows did not detect any networking hardware", even though the light is clearly on and should be working. The cable is also new so it should be fine. I've also been looking around on the internet a bit, and in trying to fix the problem it looks like some of my Services are turned off, which seems to be causing the problem. However, whenever I try and turn them on, I get an error message saying "The dependency service or group failed to start".

Cisco VPN :: How To Lock VPN Users Into Certain Group-policy With ASA / ACS 8.2

Feb 10, 2011

I have a Cisco ASA (8.2) with several group-policies setup.  By default, I can hit the SSL page, and have a selection of available group-policies for a user to login to.  I want to have different ACLs for each group, to go along with the subnet that each particular group hands out.  Right now, as long as a user is authenticated through AAA, they can log in to any group they select, and therefore, have more permissions than another group.

I know how to hide the list, but I need to be able to assign a specific group to a user based on an attribute in ACS.

I've setup ACS to use the "CVPN3000/ASA/PIX7.x-Tunnel-Group-Lock" Atttribute, to which I match the group-policy name in the ASA, to the attribute on the user account in ACS.This doesn't seem to work, and it just throws the user into DfltGrpPlcy, which doesn't give the user anything.  So it's either wide-open, or it's broken.

I'm using RADIUS authentication and not TACACS, so it should retrieve the attributes, and according to the ACS, it grabs the attribute during the authentication process.

Cisco WAN :: 2821 MS Group Policy Failure / ICMP Size Too Small On Router?

Nov 29, 2010

When you use Group Policy to determine whether a link is fast or slow, fast links may be incorrectly flagged as slow links.

This problem may occur when a network that you are trying to detect a slow link to is configured to control the size and flow of Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) packets. For example, if a router allows for only ICMP ping packets that have a size of 1,024 bytes, the slow-link detection feature may flag the connection as a slow link. This is because the router discards ICMP packets that are larger than 1,024 bytes. If the router discards the packet because it exceeds the allowed size, fast links may be reported as slow links.

According to Microsoft, the default ICMP ping packet size of 2048 is used.Microsoft recommends changing every single Windows machine's ICMP size...but my customer would rather just change the router. It is a 2821 router, running 12.4(24)T4, using MLPPP to bundle two T1s.

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS 4.2 User Group Mapping?

Sep 12, 2012

We are using ACS 4.2.1.15 with patch 8 on ACS 1113 SE box.

Our requirement is to assign ACS loal group to user on basis of windows Nt group. Which means I dont wants to create individual users in ACS rather when user will login, the auth request will be forwarded to AD(remote database). Depeneding on the remote database group the user should be mapped to local database.

For this I have configured "database group mapping" according to following cisco guide. [URL]

However when ever my AD users are authenticating they are getting the membership of default group as configured in "Default" profile. I am using TACACS+ protocol in my routers and switches for authentication.

whether "Group mapping by External user database"  works with TACACS+ or only with RADIUS protocol. If it works with TACACS+ what else configuration need to be done so that my ACS can map users to proper groups instead of default group.

AAA/Identity/Nac :: ISE 1.0.4 Machine / User ActiveDirectory Group Retrieving

Mar 6, 2012

We are migrating our ACS 5.1 to ISE 1.0.4.

- On ACS we were doing 802.1x Authentification over an Activedirectory, assigning Vlan according to computer/user group. In some case the user vlan could be different from the computer vlan (ex admin account connecting to a user account). This works great with ACS.I tested the same function with ISE and the behaviour is a bit different :

- When the computer boot, I can see the computer account being authenticated on ISE. The logs show the AD groups the computer belongs to and the Authorization profile is well applied according to the AD group.

- When the user login, I can see the user account being authenticated on ISE, BUT the logs show the AD groups of the previous authentication, the one belonging to the computer not the user. So the authorization profile is the one from the computer not the user.

It seems that the AD group attributes are not well updated :

- AD logs show the second authentication doesn't engage a new group parsing from AD
- Shutting down the switch port when user is logged engage a new authentication a AD group are well updated.
- Bug toolkit reference the same bug but for WLC CSCto83897 so I suspect it's present in other case.

Currently I have a Netgear WNA3100 connected which works fine but I to use the TP-Link to connect to a second network simultaneously. Here's the problem. The drivers installed just fine for the TP-Link adapter. Windows shows that its connected as a USB device (USB2.0 WLAN) and Network & Sharing Centre shows it is being "Wireless Network Connection 4"(The Netgear one shows as "Wireless Network Connection 2")However, when i try to use the TP-Link one to connect to a network, it doesn't show up in the "Network Connections" menu on the Taskbar, and when i disconnect the Netgear one it says that it can't find any wireless connections at all; note that "Network & Sharing Centre" still shows the TP-Link Adapter as being connected to the PC).Tried Reinstalling the TP-Link Software, updating it, etc. Restarted PC. Disabled Netgear connection. Physically Disconnected Netgear Adapter and still no luck.

Home Network :: Setting Up A Wireless User Group In Town

Aug 29, 2011

We want to set up a wireless user group in our town between a few friends and new people who are interested to join. As far as I heard I don't need a ICASA License for the 5.8GHz Frequency if we are using it for a non profit orginization, so we may use that.

1 x Routerboard
3 x Radio Plugin Boards
3 x 120degree Antennas

to set up a 360degree HS (Highsite). Then at each person's house we will need:

1 x Routerboard
1 x Radio Plugin Board
1 x Whichever Antenna

Is that correct? Then also if we wanto run VoIP on our network, how do I do that? Basicly we want to use it for gaming, file sharing and VoIP. No Internet of anything else.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5520 / Restricting End User To One Specific Group With AnyConnect?

Feb 6, 2013

I just started configuring AnyConnect with ASA 5520 that uses Cisco SecureACS to pass radius authentication.  I configured two profiles with different split tunnel restrictions and what I discovered is that when the client connects to the ASA, they are provided a choice of these two groups (I guess there is no way to restrict this) and I can log into either one with any user account.  How do I restrict this so that the user can only use one profile?  Currently users capable of VPN would be placed in one specific AD group so that is what SecureACS checks.  Is there a sample configuration guide to handle multiple profiles with different levels of access?
