Router With Two Internal Networks

Jun 18, 2011

I have a cable modem, hub and two routers. One router is wireless and the computers on this router have an IP address of 10.1.x.x. The other is a wired router and the computers on this router have an IP address of 192.168.x.x. Computers on both networks have Internet access but can't talk to computers on the other router. What I'm wondering is instead of using 3 hardware devices (1 hub/2 routers), is there any router model that will allow me to setup two internal networks similar to what I have above. I just want to cut down on the equipment and power that I use with my current setup.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 Routing Between Internal Networks

Feb 18, 2013

I am new to Cisco ASA and have been configuring my new firewall but one thing have been bothering. I cannot get internal networks and routing between them to work as I would like to. Goal is to set four networks and control access with ACL:s between those.

1. Outside
2. DMZ
3. ServerNet1
4. Inside

ASA version is 9.1 and i have been reading on two different ways on handling IP routing with this. NAT Exempt and not configuring NAT at all and letting normal IP routing to handle internal networks. No matter how I configure, with or without NAT I cannot get access from inside network to DMZ or from ServerNet1 to DMZ. Strange thing is that I can access services from DMZ to Inside and ServerNet1 if access list allows it. For instance DNS server is on Inside network and DMZ works great using it. [code]

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 Connecting 2 Internal Networks?

Nov 7, 2012

We recently changed locations and acquired a new circuit from our provider. They also connected our remote branch office to our main office through MPLS. Now, as I understand it, the branch office basically connects back to the main office through our providers network (MPLS). We have a new router at the branch office which has a gateway of 192.168.1.225. The clients in that office have IP's of 192.168.1.96 - 100, using the gateway of 192.168.1.225.

The main office network is 192.168.0.0 (Gateway of 192.168.0.1)

At this end (Main office), I also have a new Cisco 2900 provided by the ISP, with port 0/0 for the outside connection (connected to the 0 port on my ASA 5505). The ASA's port 1 obviously running into my network hub. The provider tells me that port 0/1 on the 2900 is or should be used to connect the branch office back to here and has an IP of 192.168.0.225, as that's how the provider provisioned it. So, I plug that into the ASA's Ethernet port 0/2. And I'm assuming they have a route setup either on the 2900 or the router in the branch office so that 192.168.1.225 can reach me here at 192.168.0.0.

There is already a static route setup on the ASA: (192.168.1.0 255.255.255.255 192.168.0.225 1). As soon as I plug in the cable, the IP phones at the branch office work, but they can't access the internet or any resources in the main office. My questions are:

1. Shouldn't I be able to just go straight from the 0/1 port on the Cisco 2900 to my hub. At first I was plugging right into the ASA, but I don't think I need to do that, why go from the branch office through my ASA to access resources and then back out the ASA for internet. If they're already coming from 192.168.1.225, through the MPLS network, then they should go right to my network and then back out the ASA.

2. They have to route through the ASA first, in which case, do I need to setup another VLAN for that branch network in conjunction with a static route? I can ping the router and hosts in the branch office through the ASA only!

Below is the running sanitized config:

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 / Unable To Get Internal Networks Talking To Each Other

Apr 22, 2012

I am tasked with transferring all clients from one subnet to the other. I figure the nicest way to do this is to temporarily have the subnets talk to each other in an endeavour to avoid as much downtime as possible. The two internal subnets are:

192.168.0.0/24
192.168.43.0/24 (the intended migration network)

I am beating my head against the desk here as I dont seem to be getting anywhere after the changes I have made. The current configuration is as such:

ASA Version 8.2(5)
!
hostname ciscoasa
domain-name *****
enable password ***** encrypted
passwd ***** encrypted

[code]......

Upgrading the firmware is not really an option?

Discover Custom Internal IP Of Router?

Jan 21, 2012

Using a command prompt, how do I discover the internal IP of an unused router, which I set to a custom value and forgot? The router is not currently in use for internet access. I would like to access the control panel of the router without resetting it.I attached my netbook to the router with an RJ45 cable and disabled the netbook's wireless adapter to avoid conflicts with my current network. Using an elevated command prompt, I did an "ipconfig /release", rebooted and ran "ipconfig /all", but the gateway entry is blank. An "arp -a" returns 169.254.190.120 as the only interface. A "netstat -a" returns 169.254.190.120:xx...'s, 127.0.0.1:xx...'s, and 0.0.0.0:xx...'s, but no router internal IP address. Is there a way discover the attached device without resetting?

Home Network :: Tracing If Internal Data Goes Through A Router

I have read that switches (and I assume this "access point") can store the MAC Addresses of computers to cut out the router, but I'm not sure how to make sure that that's happening.

So, I can watch the VPN server log and see the request come into the server and it times out with the Linksys 320 N hooked up. If I have the old router hooked up, the vpn establishes a connection.

Cisco VPN :: 3745 - Can't Access Internal Subnets Behind 2nd Router

Mar 10, 2012

I am really new to this and studiying so I know that I am doing something dumb. Anyway, I purchased an ASA 5505 and placed it between my Cable Modem and Cisco 3745 router. The outside interface on the ASA is dhcp, the inside interface is 192.168.100.1. The outside interface of the 3745 is 192.168.100.2 and the inside is 192.168.1.1. The VPN pool is 192.168.200.10 - 192.168.200.10.

Here's are the problems...

1. When I establish a VPN session to the ASA, I can ping and access any resources dierectly connected to the ASA's interfaces and on the ASA's internal 192.168.100.0 network. However, I cannot access any resources behind the 3745. I cannot even ping 192.168.1.1.

2. Although I believe that I sent up split-tunnel, I cannot U-Turn back to the internet once connected to the VPN.

Netgear Router / Setup An Internal Network In One Room Of A Building?

May 1, 2012

internet provided to whole building with connections in every room -> personal router in my room -> my PCs, Macs & printer, how to set up my computers so that they can share files with each other and print to my network printer, but without being susceptible to being accessed from other computers in the building? I have my own netgear router. But at the moment, my shared folders are accessible by everyone in the building, so is my printer If I set all the computers to automatically set ip by DHCP, they can access the net, but everyone in the building can access them (and my printer which requires a manual ip doesnt work). If I set all the computers to manual addresses (e.g. 192.168.1.14 ... 192.168.1.15 ... 192.168.1.16 etc.) they work with each other, the printer works, its secure, but I can't access the internet! Is there a way to for example have my own internal network with manual ip addresses, while also being able to connect to the net?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 - 500 Internal Server Error?

Oct 11, 2011

I have a problem with my router, WRT54G2. I was upgrading my firmware when my computer froze up, so I had to exit. Afterwards, I could not connect to the web based setup page anymore. I did a factory reset and installed it again with Network Magic and set up my wireless key. It is working now however, I cannot get into the web based setup page. Whenever i go to 192.168.1.1 and enter my info, it just says 500 Internal Server Error. I was always able to access this page, now I can't, so I assume it's not working because of the interrupted firmware update. I do alot of mac filtering and I limit the amount of IP addresses my router gives out so if anyone hacks my security key, they still won't be able to connect, so accessing my router setup page is important to me. I have reset (hold down reset button for 30 secs - 1 minute) the router many times and still nothing. I mean, the router still works. My brother and I can still connect with our laptops, I just can't get to the web based setup page.

Linksys Wired Router :: EA2700 Accessing Internal Web Servers

Sep 20, 2012

I just moved from a Linksys wired router to the Cisco EA2700 wired/wireless router.I have three web servers on my network that serve up content via standard web URLs.  For example, pretend www.domain.com pointed to the WAN side of my EA2700.  Port forwarding routes port 80 traffic to the server, located on an internal, private IP (ie, 192.168.1.21).All works well when accessing these servers from outside my network (I checked this via my mobile broadband connection).  But when I'm on a workstation internal to the same network as the servers, I cannot connect to the servers via the web URL.  Of course, I can hit them via the IP or an internal-only DNS network entry.  For example, when on 192.168.1.55 on a desktop machine, and I type the URL in the form www.domain.com, it just hangs and times out.  I was able to do this on the old Linky router.  Traffic should go stop at the router and be re-routed back internally to the port-forwarded server - but it does not.

I have to route properly via the web URL and not the internal DNS name or IP addy, as I am running virtual web servers on IIS on one of the servers. Is there a setting I failed to set on the EA2700?
