My super awesome desktop with the regular gigabit, on board lan card (on Win7).A laptop, with wireless connectivity (again on Win7).A modem, UTStarcom WA3002G4 with an internet connection from BSNL.The modem is a wireless modem.Now for my question.I want to be able to connect the laptop and the desktop in a single LAN connection, so that i)I may play NFS Most Wanted on both the laptop and desktop through the LAN play.ii) I may share files and folders, fast and without any hassles.*though mostly only the firstSo, this being my completely descriptive question.

Following are my components at hand.

I'm trying to upgrade my existing Netgear wired router to a Netgear N600 wireless router. I was really hoping just to replug in everything and go. But because the wired router is setup for 192.168.1.1 when I plug in the wireless router it thinks nothing is plugged in because it too wants to use that IP address. How do I disable the wired settings

I just switched over from AT&T Uverse to time Warner cable for Internet. I bought a Motorola Surfboard sbg6580. I have the surfboard hooked up and all is well. Now I would like to do in put the old 2wire from AT&T in a room upstairs and use it as place I can plug in the Ethernet cords and also transmit another signal. I have what's a called plug link that is plugged in down stairs and then another upstairs and it allows the Internet signal to run through the power lines. So it just about the equivalent of running a cord for down stairs to upstairs. So basically I just need to plug more then 1 thing upstairs that isn't wireless and I would also like to transmit a 2.4ghz signal upstairs and use my Motorola to transmit a 5ghz.How would I set up the 2wire to do this.

I believe the SRW series is the same basic hardware as the SG300 series.Is there a way to upgrade the firmware on the SRW series using the SG300 firmware?
The SG300 firmware is much more usable. Also I'd rather have consistency as we have the older SRW2024/48 and the newer SG300 switches.

i have Reliance Net Connect (USB modem) to connect the internet to my PC it is working well with my PC.... now i have a UTStarcom wireless Router Modem what i want to do is using the internet connection i have on my pc (which is connected via Reliance Net Connect) with the router i found, i want to share the internet with my Android Mobile is it possible to reverse the internet? i mean usually its like modem to pc i want to share my PC internet to my Mobile using the WiFi router (i have no broadband connection)

I want to setup an home network with a wireless router and use multiple switches for wired connections through out my home. I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

Is it possible to daisy chain 3 switches and not have ip conflict? I am running a public access network for a library. For certain library software I need for all workstations to see each other. I have 25 workstations in total and two separate management consoles. I have all workstations on two switches but one of the management consoles is on the third switch because when joined with the others it has an ip conflict. I need this console for the digital sender that is connected as well as to act as a server for go print software.

If your wireless indicator is flashing red when you discover the smurf, it can mean that someone has tried to logon with an incorrect password. this is not necessarily an attack, it could be someone you have allowed access too, who has forgotten the password? In this case entering the correct password will solve the problem.However putting your own MAC address into the filter will simply block your own machine.

For my work I am looking to create wireless capabilities to remote locations. To do this we are using a standard modem/router that is connected to an Engenius (802.11b/g) wireless outdoor radio connected to a dish antenna. We are able to go to locations (3+km) and then with a corresponding receiving antenna (using LoS), receive the Internet and connect both to computers at the transmitting point as well as to the WWW. The problem exists is that we want to employ a series of routers at the receiving end that would be able to carry the transmission to a different location (relatively close), due to the fact that some of the locations do not have line of sight to the antennas. We are using Encore routers, model # ENHWI-N3. When we connect the radio's Ethernet into the routers WAN reciever, we can connect to the Internet with a computer. The problem exists is we want to pass that connection over to a second router (R2). This connection is done when the routers are on access points set to a WDS function with R1 having R2's mac address and vice versa. Both routers are set to channel 1. Even when the routers are seperated by distances >50m a computer plugged into R2 can see a computer plugged into R1. Files can be transferred between the 2 computers wirelessly at speed around 3 mbps. However computer 2 on R2 can not connect to the WWW. This router features a spot that lights up if it has Internet access and R1's is lit up but R2's is not. How do we transfer the Internet and not just a LAN from R1 to R2 so it can be accessed further away from the point of the radio and antenna equipment. This setup has also been used where R2 is hardwired to R3. At R3 we change the channel to 11, and then connect through that with mac addresses wirelessly to 4th router. If comp is in R4 and far away it can still access and file share from comp at R1.*edit the ip address for the routers exist all on 192.168.1.xxx If the 3rd number is different between routers would this make a difference?

everything was all good, my brother went crazy and unplugged everything.it effects our house phone too, that could be the problem.i just dont know what wires went where. all the wires are the same color.but i know which is which. just again, dont know where.i would like to get it done before he gets home later on.

The first router is wired to the DSL modem and works just fine as an access point with Internet access. The second router is wired from the first router using one of the 4 ports on both router hubs. The second router is visible but has no Internet. How to configure the second router regarding DHCP, LAN, WAN, DNS etc.

How to set up a home network with 2 routers, where R1 acts as the DHCP server and R2 is basically a switch, connected LAN to LAN and everything is on the same subnet. Currently I have a different setup:Both routers have the DHCP server enabled and I connect R2's WAN port to R1 LAN. Therefore I have 2 subnets. Now my special requirement is that R2 is a DD-WRT router, which establishes a VPN connection to StrongVPN, so that all internet traffic via R2 is encrypted and goes through the StrongVPN server. Now my question:If I change my router setup to the same subnet, meaning R2 connects LAN to R1 LAN and I disable DHCP server on R2, will R2 still be able to establish the VPN connection?

How do i connect two internet routers to one IP address range?I currently have one broadband router connected on 172.16.0.3 subnet 255.255.0.0, I have a second line which is a copper ethernet EFM 2Mb line connected using a Cisco 1800 router configured on 172.16.0.254 subnet 255.255.255.0, no DHCP is configured on either router. the dhcp is provided by a windows 2003 server on our LAN which is also configured on the same LAN IP range. if i connect the Cisco router into the same switch as the broadband router my network devices stop working and dont respond.
If i check the broadband router it shows all the connections to it as having the same MAC address as the Cisco router?? if i disconnect the Cisco router everything returns back to normal and works perfectly.What I want to achieve is to be able to run both routers on the same LAN to provide internet access by configuring the pc's to route through a specific router. the DHCP I want to stay routed through my original broadband line. at the same time i want all pc's to access to the lan devices (ie. servers and printers) what the correct configuration would be for the two internet routers would be?

In my office we have concrete walls and very limited wiring. The way it is set up is we have a Verizon DSL Modem that comes in then I have a router with it that splits the signal to 4 other routers that each split the signal 2 to 3 more times. I have to use routers so that it assigns IP addresses.I bought a new D-Line N300 Wireless router with USB imput. I want to attach my Home Media Network Hard Drive Cloud edition to the 1st router (attached to the modem) and then share the data off that hard drive with everyone connected to the sub routers.

I have a laptop connected to a net gear wireless router (for internet), but I am very close to buying a Belkin network USB hub to make my hard drive wireless, but this requires a router. I do not want move my hard drive to where my net gear router is, so I need to get another router, i am looking at a Belkin router so that I can make my hard drive wireless (This is the only reason for the router, it will not be used for internet) so I can keep my hard drive in the same place.

I have a little probs@a site .we have a vsat link connected to a linksys E1000 router which is pluged into a cisco 2950 switch doing DHCP to the LAN,then a WAN link configured on a cisco 2911 router on static ip which is pluged into the same switch to serve the same LAN.I have been having issues of the workstations accessing both the WAN and internet@ the same time.

I have a guest house in the back. I access the net there through my Dell laptop using WiFi. I have a television there that needs to have its operating system upgraded through the internet. All it has is a LAN connector. How do I get my Laptop to convert the WiFi to LAN so all I need to do is connect a LAN cable between my laptop and the TV? Trying to convert a spare router (Linksys E3200) into a wireless access point to extend my wireless coverage. I thought knew how to do this but having a problem.The problem I am having is that after I finish step 2 the router reboots with the browser trying to access it at the new ip address. But the browser will not connect.I am doing this on a laptop that is disconnected from my network while I am working on the E3200. It is connected by an ethernet cable. I also tried it wireless with the same result.
