Separate Server Traffic From Users?

I run a small software development firm with around 15 network users. We currently have broadband DSL (only thing available in our area with decent up/down speeds - 2/20 respectively). We have 7 development (Win 2008/2012) servers and 4 sales people that tie up bandwidth with video conferencing/movies/music/etc..We aren't running a DHCP server (the modem/router handles DHCP) or exchange (we use gmail). We essentially have the broadband modem, a cradlepoint mbr1400 router as AP, and a 24 port unmanaged switch, a few wireless printers, and of course each employee has at least one other device connected via WIFI.

What I am looking to do is separate my lan traffic from my wan traffic. The amount of Lan traffic is slowing my Internet connection. The media server is the host of all my music and movies and photos and well just about everything, Some of the files are excessivly large and just kill the throughput for the other machines. I'm wondering if it's possible to put 2 NICS in each machine and have all file transfers on one subnet and all internet activities on another. I have heard it's possible to put multiple addies on a single nic but doesn't this defeat the purpose of thru put?
Network 1 - one line diagram
Internet
Cable modem
Router/wifi
Switch 1
6 PC's 1 Media/file/print server.
All pc's and wifi use this to access internet, and all outside connections like remote desktop.
Network 2 - one line diagram
Switch 2
6 PC's, 1 Media/file/print server.
All pc's use this to stream audio and video from the media server as well as print functions and file storage.I have most of the hardware already except the additional nics for each machine. so if it's not feasible I'll not waste the extra monies.

I would like to connect a second ISP link to our ASA 5510 to solely serve http traffic from our organization's employees (ie. web surfing). We currently have all employee traffic and two site-to-site VPN tunnels connecting to the internet from this firewall. I want to keep the tunnels as currently configured on the existing connection and split out http/https traffic from our staff onto a less costly link.

I have two devices: One is a Linksys WRG54G router. The other is a PC running the Smoothwall router software with URL filtering. Either would work fine on its own as a router. I'm wanting to use them both, though, because each offers different features.Right now, the Linksys router is connected to the WAN and is my DHCP server. Its IP is 192.168.0.1. The Smoothwall box has a static IP of 192.168.0.2. I want all web traffic to go through Smoothwall (192.168.0.2) because it offers good web filtering.
I know I could use Smoothwall as my router and rid of the Linksys, but the whole idea behind this is to use the QoS and other features that Linksys firmwares offer (such as Tomato or DD-WRT), but still keep the ability to filter URLs.

I am planning the following network setup.Get a server with 2 NICs, a router and a switch ,1st NIC is connected to Internet2nd NIC is connected to a router,A router is connected to a switch,All the client workstation are connected to Switch to access the server.I believe with this setup all my client workstations can browse the internet on their local machine via server.

1.I want to have a seperate Broadband line for a Server running TS for certain users to log into to.
2. I want another broadband line that is split via switch for other users and servers.
Reason: Speed up connection for TS users so that are on a dedicated line.
How will I get TS Server to speak with my Main File server to access the files they need and there is 1 folder both networks should have access to?
TS server and Main server in Same building. Don't want to use a WAN routers to connect the 2 routers together. My Broadband (According to speedtest.net = 12Mbps DL/ 0.80Mbps UL)

I am using a 6500 with FWSM. I need to separate an internal server/HQ network from 3 or 4 different external connections. The external networks do not necessarily need to be isolated from each other.I have the option of using a 3 layer model: L2 Access layer to SVIs on the Distribution layer and then L3 to the 6500.L2 Access, connecting directly to the 6500s, with the SVIs on the FWSM.Is it better to have the FWSM outside the MSFC or Inside? Am i correct in thinking that "inside" vs "outside" is determined by whether the SVI's are configured on the FWSM or the MSFC? is there any performance impact from having the FWSM doing the routing instead of the MSFC.If the vlans are all configured on the FWSM, what is the 6500 doing, other than providing switch ports?

I need to configure two VLANs in my home network to separate a server 1 with VM from another part of network with server 2 and wifi clients. Is it possible to keep DHCP server and internet access on E2500 enabled for both vlans? If so, how should I configure ports tagging (variant shown on screen shoot below doesn't work).

I am using a WLC 5508 and its internal DHCP server. I cant find anywhere I can setup option 43. However, the access points are connected in just fine. Do I need to worry about setting up a seperate DHCP server to get option 43 setup properly?

I am migrating over from and old PIX to an ASA 5510. After configuring the new device everything else is functional (Internet) but users are unable to pass traffic when connected through the vpn, they are able to authenticate and I see their session connected on the ASDM but no data is passed..[code]

For my Lan, I have created two Vlan; Vlan 10 = for Users and Vlan 20 = For Database Servers,There are 15 Lan computer/laptop and 5 SQL database server (Dell Server) connected through same 24 port cisco 2960 switch. Means, 15 + 5 port occupied.
I have applied access list on cisco switch to restrict communication between vlan 10 and vlan 20.But My main purpose to create two Vlan is not for any kind of communication or restriction. My main Purpose is that Users traffic do not distrub or choke or affect the Database servers. then what will i need to do for that is VLAN Concept is sufficient for my concern OR I will need to buy seperate Cisco Switch to connect 5 database servers OR Else ?

I run a webserver that has worked fine for a while. Recently, I've been getting calls from people who say that the page is no longer pulling up. There were several reported cases, but no specifics. Finally I talked to someone today.He said they changed their ISP to AT&T U-Verse and that's when the problem started. When trying to go to our webpage, his browser times out. My fiance recently signed up for the Screen-wise Panel for Google research. Basically they monitor your TV usage and your internet usage. As part of the program they installed a Cisco WIFI router. I've got no issue with them logging the sites visited etc but I'm a little worried about them possible collecting private information (banking / work related stuff) that I don't want going out there. According to what I've read what's supposed to happen is they replace your router with the new Cisco router.The "technician" who came in and installed the router was actually a builder and not an IT technician and rather than replace our router he connected the Cisco router into port 4 of our router... I wasn't in at the time.
What I was looking to do is separate Port 4 of my router into a separate VLAN that can access the internet, but not access anything on ports 1-3, or the wireless. However, I want to be able to see everything on port 4 from the other side (in other words I want to see "into" the port 4 VLAN, but don't want them to see out). I also wanted DHCP to assign IP addresses correctly depending on where you were plugged in. In this example the first VLAN (your current router ip address) is going to be on 192.168.1.1, and the second VLAN (the new on we create on port 4) is going to be on 192.168.2.1.This is exactly what I'm looking to do, I could then connect the kids machines / tablets / ipods to the Cisco router and have the main machine and my work laptop on the main router... but I don't have a clue how to do it. </quote> Is this something that I am able to do with the Netgear router I own and is it hard to set up?

I am a networking student so have access to a free copy of Windows Server 2012. I want to setup and get experience with AD, DHCP, and DNS, among other services. Right now I have a Netgear router attached to a Cisco switch. (studying for CCENT cert) I have my desktop and server plugged into switch. I want my desktop to connect to the domain for testing and messing aroudn with. My wife has a netboook, smartphone, and wireless ipod. I'd like her 3 devices to get an IP from the DHCP server without having her authenticate to the server. Will the Netgear router allow this since wirless access is on? Or will she need to authenticate with the server to get a DHCP IP? I am gonig to disable the router's DHCP service.

The server is running Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2.The four other systems connecting to the server are running Microsoft Windows XP.Is it possible to have all four users connected at the same time remotely using a remote desktop client to the server? I'm using Teamviewer right now, but not sure if it will work with that.

Since the number of computers are expanding at my home, I want to reduce Wireless Connectivity and increase Ethernet connection between computers. I will be running a Server that supports 10 TB Storage.Will a Custom PC be better or should I use a NAS connected to a web server?
I currently use a Linksys WRT160n router that supports only 4 ethernet connections.Now I need at least 40 Ethernet connections. Will a Switch do? Also I will be running Asterisk to support Telephones.
My web server will not function globally. Only in LAN.And also, the web server will have a 250gb Wikipedia Dump that will deploy 10 times; and also a lot of video from KhanAcademy for knowledge base.I am looking for something powerful which will be quiet and have less downtime.I have checked out Newegg, eRacks, and many other websites. But I am confused with what to consider buying.
A Local Web Server or a custom built PC for 10tb hard drive suppoty.Router that can provide wired connection to about 40 users.A Terminal so I can monitor the bandwidth usage.

I've got an HP Microserver, running server 2008 R2 foundation, and I'm using it for file sharing. All files are in a single folder with subfolders, and located in drive C.
The problem is that the server limits the number of LAN connections to it to 31. I've already changed the max. number of connections to the maximum, but doesn't seem to work. Network discovery and file sharing are on, firewall is off, full access rights for everyone.
The error I get when trying to access the shared folder is: 'Microsoft Windows Network: No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept'

I have successfully set up a windows 2008 box as a Radius server and use it to authenticate VPN users against ta AD database.I have also set up a similar policy that permits authentication for management purposes to all my networking devices (routers,switches and the ASA).Both policies work fine.Of course I don't want every VPN user to have administrative access to the ASA and every other device on my network.How can I discriminate between the 2 groups (VPN users and Network administrators)

We have 2 nexus 7010 switches configured with HSRP in the network. For all the vlans core1 is Master and Core2 is standby. In the current setup we have external dhcp server and dhcp relay is configured for all the vlans on Master and standby switch. The setup is running the IOS 5.2
Activity Done: During the Maintainacne activity, we isolated core1 switch in the network by disabling the vpc/keepalive and all the uplinks from access switch. The core2 switch was master for all the vlans.
Issue observed: It has been observed that new users were not getting ip address from the dhcp server. The ethereal capture showed that dhcp server was not getting the dhcp requests from the core2 switch. We disabled the dhcp feature in core2 and enabled again with dhcp relay again configured on vlan interfaces .even after doing this no change was observed in behaviour. Finally we got core1 back in network by enabling all the links.
Observation: The moment VPC link came up between the core switches, users started getting ip's from dhcp. Then we started enabling all the uplinks on core1.Core1 again become master for all the vlans and users continued getting ip’s. Network running fine.
Further Testing
1. For one of the vlan, core 2 switch has been made primary and for new users checked the dhcp functionality and it was working fine. The aim was to identify if anything wrong on core 2 related to dhcp relay
2.Again we changed the priority for this vlan and made core1 master for the same. This time we disabled this vlan on core1 and tried new user with core 2 became master and dhcp functionality worked fine for new user. Actually in this case we have simulated the same behaviour when we observed the issue with only difference of VPC was not available during the issue time as core 1 was isolated form network
Inputs needed.
Is there any known behaviour for dhcp functionality when VPC is unavailable? If we see the test scenario2 (wherein core1 was master for the vlan and we disable this vlan on core 1 and core 2 was able to relay dhcp requests for new users in this vlan.) it was actually same as scenario we observed during issue time..

I have a router that supports wireless network. I have 2 desktop computers that connect through LAN, 3 Laptops that connect using WiFi. Lot of them use utorrent. I want to block it. They use it to download movies. I have warned them of consequences but they simply dont listen. I dont know how to implement QoS in my router. Mine is UTStarCom.

So i have a server with an internet nic and lan nic. The internet nic gets its IP from the router 192.168.1.7 the lan nic uses DHCP for the network and has 172.16.1.1. I just turned on the ftp service and it works fine in the lan side but cant reach it from the ISP side. I use a dynamic dns host which is monitoring my internet ip and is correct.

I have a server with SQL Server 2008 on it. It listens on the default ports 1433 & 1434. But traffic is not making it through my DIR-655 to the LAN so that SQL Server can respond to the request. I am using DynDNS and have confirmed that the traffic is getting thru DNS and finding the router, but after watching the syslog I can see that I'm getting multiple of the following error messages when a request is initiated from a client (Microsoft Access app) outside my network:

In Port Forwarding I have specified a rule to allow/pass port 1433 & 1434 TCP traffic to my internal server IP.
Also I'm confused by the ports shown above since I was expecting to see 1433/1434 in there...seems this is a factor in the traffic never getting to the SQL Server to process the request?

I have a 2003 standard machine with networking issues. the nic shows that it is connected and it received the correct DHCP ip from the router but i can't ping the router or any other ip on the network.i ran a TCP/IP fix, Winstock Fix, LSP Fix, checked the services that starts up, checked the startup programs, turned the firewall off, checked in advanced settings on the nic if the correct order is there. the funny thing is that in safe mode with networking it works like a charm but not when i boot in to windows normally.If i ping the router it just shows destination host unreachable.

Is it possible with the DIR-601 to have one of the IP's on the LAN route all traffic through a proxy server? I would like to have my Roku device (which I've setup as a static on the LAN side) to always connect though a proxy, while all my other devices connect to the internet normally.
