I followed instructions on using 2 routers my master is a netgear wndr4000 and slave is a netgear wgt624 v3 i have dead spot in livingroom so i ran cat 5 cable to plug my smart tv in. I have old router so i was wondering if i could also have wifi in living room so i read thread and it works. Only one problem my router in living room is open and when i put a password on it, it wont let me login. How can i put a password on slave router?
I have a two routers running from one connection first the master which is a Dlink dg500 - i think all is fine there. Secondly I have a slave router running all the wired/wireless things in the kids rooms its a netgear and when i say 'slave' I figured out if you put the input from the first router into port1 instead of input it works as a slave.
Problem is I need to get into the router menu on the netgear, it was ip add 192.168.1.1 then when i slaved it it was 10.0.0.1 - (I think) but I have tried recentley to get onto it and can't for the life of me. I have tried wirelessly and through ethernet cable but can't get the menu.

Now the problem: My pc that is directly connected with lan to my wifi router has acces to the internet. However when i try to configure the wifi router by going to its ip (192.168.0.1) im getting "The webpage unavailable" error. And i am also able to connect to my dsl modem(192.168.0.2) The reason i want to configure my wifi modem is the fact that for some reason only 1 wifi device at a time seems to be able to have acces to WAN.

I have a router supplied by my ISP which is effectively locked down, the wireless on that router give me a massive 35 Mbps (yes i know... awesome) so I wanted to get something that would allow me to stream movies wirelessly in the house. The setup I had before was Thompson DSL router downstairs (ISP router) running the DSL connection and Wireless, a TP-Link 200Mbps Power over Ethernet connecting upstairs to a Netgear ADSL Wireless router (somewhat flaky device). This router had DHCP disabled and a static IP address, I had configured wireless with the same SSID, password and channel as the ISP router and they were all happy and everything was working (most of the time except when the netgear would crash or the 35MB wifi was too slow to achieve what I wanted).
What I would like to do is this... ISP router downstairs with wifi disabled so it just handles DHCP and DSL connection, router upstairs (New TP-Link) running new WiFi, DHCP disabled (static IP address for Router) but connected to router downstairs through TP-Link Power over Ethernet.
I was hoping it was as simple as the Netgear router where disabling DHCP was enough for it to see the other router and just work but it isn't doing that

I have just been reading an old post about running a Slave Router off of a Primary Modem/Router. That all makes sense for the setup side of it. My question is about open ports for devices connected to the Slave Router.. For example, I have certain ports open on my PS3 for playing Call of Duty online. Will all of the traffic for these ports simply flow through the slave router or do I need to open up all the same ports on the Slave Router?

I'm fairly new to networking and need to migrate an old core to a new core. I have a 6509-e Switch that I had an RMA on one of my 720 sup cards. After receiving the sup card I swapped my slave out with the new one, expecting it to boot into ios. It booted into Roman. I tried to boot the image manually and it did the same thing. I also tried to boot from my flash and, again, booted into ROMmon.
Question: If i configure and change the boot to boot from image it tells me i need to reset or power cycle first. Will this reset the entire switch? As this is production I'd rather not.
I am at home now, but I can supply any logs/hardware model/configs tomorrow. I thought I would see if this is an easy fix.
I was trying to put a password on my wifi and I followed all the steps from this website(using 192.168.2.1) but the password I chose is not working and I am forced to connect to the internet directly. How can I get back to using my wifi?I went to 192.168.2.1, went to Security, chose WAP/WAP2 and AES then I chose a password and a guest password and clicked on Apply changes. Neither the guest nor personal password are working and I can't get into my wifi network. What do I do?
I have windows 7 Ultimate , I have a wired ome network and haev a laptop and WD Live TV Hub on them but when I try and click on teh items under network in explorer it pops up with a enter network password, under which it wants a user name and password.i have added all the usernames and passwords I haev for the pc and the laptop but nothing gets past it.
I tried to set it up on a new dir 655 but the password the roku asks for does not work. I have the latest firmware installed. I tried entering my ssid manually and then the key. I did reset everything and try again. Why is my wireless not working? The ethernet port to my desktop is working fine.
As observed ACS 5.x " Change Password on Next Login" Feature does not work with SSH Clients ( tried with X-sheel, Secure CRT, Putty etc...) , however through telnet session to IOS devices, users can change their password on their next login.
1: on ACS 5.x i create a new user & Set " Change password on NExt Login" option.
2: Logged into the device through Telnet & Password can be changed after i authenticate successfully. however the same is not happening when i login to the devices through SSH.
is it because of the fact that SSH is encrypted session ?
Because changing password through a telnet session is not accepted in many fanancial organizations as per PCI Standard.
I returned to work and found a note that my Outlook and Windows password had been changed during the night by the IT department. Why would they need to change my password? Are they monitoring my work somehow.
I have a linksys wrt54gs wireless router (working fine since last 3 years) which connects to the internet fine if there is no password set. However if i set WEP password to protect the wireless connection, i am not able to connect to the wireless connection. Everytime i enter the passphrase, when trying to connect to the wireless network, it refuses to accept the password. I have tried this with 2 laptops (both running windows 7) and both have same issue.
I upgraded the firmware for my WRVS4400N v2 to version 2.0.2.1 firmware, now old and default passwords don't work. I have tried resetting it as well, and the default password does not work.

I installed my brand new TP-Link router and both wired and wireless internet connection work perfectly fine. But when I tried to secure the wifi with a password (I followed the instructions on last page of installation guide) I can not connect to the internet any more. Since i added another Member to the Stack, i'm facing the following problem: When i login with my tacacs user account, i will not be asked for the password. The same thing is for the tacacs account of my colleague, after entering the username he is logged in. It seems for me, that the passwords are cached only for this Switch.
I just reset my router to the factory settings in order to make some changes to it. However, when I tried to change the SSID to a unique name, I was unable to connect my computer to the wireless network. I then reset my security settings and left the SSID to the default name "linksys_SES_54125" and it is working just fine. I tried to connect with two separate computers both running Windows 7. My router is the WRT54G v8
why I wouldn't be able to connect to my wireless network when I change the SSID?
I have a DIR-655 B1 router. The firmware is 2.00 NA. Just to clarify, the DSi itself does work with WPA, but the games only work with WEP. I made a guest account and set it to WEP and it still does not work. I have tried making the main connection WEP as well, but when I go on the game and try it, it says it is WPA and not WEP. My friend has a DIR-655 as well, but the hardware and firmware version are different. Her games work flawlessly.
My parents home has ADSL broadband through a Netgear router and connected to a desktop PC, they want to change the PC for a laptop for ease of access and to save space. Once the PC is disconnected will the broadband still be able to work. As the plan is for the router to be upstairs in the spare room and for them to use the laptop downstairs (wireless).
There is a way to block access to a website by password protecting it through my linksys router, which is one of thoe wrt54gs. I know I can completely block access of a website and can restrict the viewing hours of facebook at certain times through the router admin IP site but was wondering if it was possible to make it so you have to use a password to view said certain site. If there isn't is there any way maybe through a program or do I have to go through my ISP to see if they can do what I am asking for.
I have an e2000 wireless router. I have the latest software version for the Cisco software.I have noticed that Cisco sets up the same password to access the router setup page as the wireless password..Anyone that connects to the main SSID will be able to connect to the setup page at 192.168.1.1...I know that I can change the password in the linksys setup page to whatever I want, but then when I open the Cisco software, it wants me to change the password to match what the administrator password is.Don't they realize that a wireless password is different than the Administrator password to access the router settings?
I have tried multiple times to hard reset my Wireless G WRT54G ver.2 router, but have had no success. I held the reset for 15 sec, 30 sec, 2 min, etc and also tried holding it and then unplugging it and then plugging it back in. I've tried everything that I have seen suggested. My problem is that I don't know what the password is to access my router's web utility thing and I need to change the IP address. With every reset attempt, I hope that the default admin password will work, but sadly no.
