Ubuntu 10.04 / Changing IP Settings Automatically Based On Location?
May 30, 2013
I have an Ubuntu 10.04 and basically I would like to achieve this:When I am at home, switch the network to use static IP.When I am at the office, switch the network to use DHCP.
Is there a program to do this?Or is this something that should go inside an init script where if it is weekend or weekday from 7 pm to 7 am, then consider it a home. If it is home, then use static IP.?
Recently I installed LMS 4.1 accidentally on the c-drive, which, as a result, fills itself with a growing database and associated logfiles. How can I move both items to another drive safely? I allready managed to move configs and downloaded software.
I am trying to move a device from the Default location to a sub group and get the following message when I try (either with IE or Firefox)
This System Failure occurred: Index : 0, Size: 0. Your changes have not been saved. Click OK to return to the list page.
it also gives me the same error if I try and change the Device type from default to a sub group. I'm sure I could do this previously. The ACS build is (VMWARE install):
Cisco Application Deployment Engine OS Release: 1.2ADE-OS Build Version: 1.2.0.228ADE-OS System Architecture: i386 Copyright (c) 2005-2009 by Cisco Systems, Inc.All rights reserved.Hostname: ACS1 Version information of installed applications--------------------------------------------- Cisco ACS VERSION INFORMATION-----------------------------Version : 5.3.0.40Internal Build ID : B.839
I'm suspecting it a read/write issue with the database or a database corruption. I have stopped and started the application acs via the console and show application status acs has the following to say about itself.
ACS1/admin# show application status acs ACS role: PRIMARY Process 'database' runningProcess 'management' runningProcess 'runtime' runningProcess 'view-database' runningProcess 'view-jobmanager' runningProcess 'view-alertmanager' runningProcess 'view-collector' runningProcess 'view-logprocessor' running
I am involved in a project that wants to implement location based services using the WLAN to track users has they move around the estate. I have been conducting a survey using ESS and Air Magnet and both have difficulty in placing APs when the ceiling height goes above 4.0m I am using cisco 1140n APs to get signal readings, but does location tracking start to breakdown once the AP is at a significant height of 4-6m
I have 2 SG300 switches, in layer3 mode, lag'd together for high availability, serving 2 Dell R815's and a Dell Equallogic 4100 for virtualisation. I have setup a number of vlan's, network traffic, mgmnt traffic, iScsi, vMotion etc and they seem to work.
However, Equallogic unit suddenly became unavailable to view for managment yet maintained iscsi traffic for the servers ok. After much head scratching, noticed that one of my SG300's had the vlan ports assigned to various vlans had *automagically* changed there assignment, ie tagged changed to excluded, but only for one of the iscsi traffic connections and the mgmnt port, both coming from the Equallogic, the other iscsi continued its assignment fine. The other SG300 hasn't changed. Guaranteee no one has been into change it and no changes have been made to Dell servers or Equallogic.
Q. Is there any circumstance where the switch can change the port setup itself? or is there any external circumstance that would trigger that change either?
This has now occured twice. The setup is running as a test lab, not in production until all setup is complete, then it will replace our existing harware.
I activated the following Cisco AnyConnect License on my Cisco ASA 5510 running the software version 8.3(2):webvpn has been configured on my ASA, but everytime I try to connect from a Window system (xp, 7 or 8), the process always stops at the menu "Download" (as seen on the image below). My goal is to connect via web-based without doing any manual installation of the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client on my system.
Using win7 64 bit 1 pc upstairs and laptop down stairs,no need for file or printer sharing so its disabled. Is it right that the public location setting is the safest setting with the sharing option disabled, and that wpa etc is not used, If you know you won’t need to share files or printers, the safest choice is public network.
In my company certain site have been blocked, they were using CCProxy to limit the accessDuring those times i would just choose automatically detect proxy settings and i would be able to get connection. But now they have done something advanced and Now i cant access internet without choosing the manual proxy, also no other applications(Like Torrents) gets internet connection. The Network icon shows a warning sign with a mouse hover text no internet access. But some of the seniors are getting complete access
Every so often (random amounts of time) my internet setting either on the router or pc change and then I it comes up with an error that my settings aren't the same as my router... I use a Orange Live box and windows 7. also when I want to sign into games for windows that sometime crashes the internet and on DOW2 and minecraft.
I had a disaster occur on my "guest" OS within VMware-Player. I had to start over from scratch! I am back in business, except for having the virtual machine recognized by my existing wireless network. The other two computers still communicate.I went through the wireless setup routine for the new VM. A new "ID" was assigned. Obviously, this is different from the one currently in use on the network. I have the settings info on a flash drive. Can I simply insert the FD in the other two computers and have the new ID replace the existing one?
I am running Windows 7 and I use a ZyXEL ZyAIR G-220 Wireless USB adapter for internet. I had a virus called something like Cloud AV 2012 so I used Malware Bytes to remove it and it worked just fine. However, now the internet does not seem to work (there's that yellow triangle with the exclamation point) and when I try to run diagnostics, the message "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings" comes up. So far, I've tried rebooting, disabling proxies in all of my browsers, and running scans, And I also cannot system restore, because apparently windows security was turned off and there are no restore points
I'm on windows 7 btw. When I diagnose the problem it says: Windows could not automatically detect this networks proxy settings I'm connected to the internet via cable on my laptop. Yes I'm using a router. The other computers connected to the router can connect to the internet but mine can't. It also says "unidentified network - no internet access" when I click on the computer icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. until I downloaded from a music site which gave me the virus I think. Now, I'm not certain if the virus is removed or not. I tried system restore point but it won't even let me restore my computer anymore for some reason, maybe because of the virus.
I'm using my old laptop now. On my regular laptop, my internet icon has the yellow triangle and when I trouble shoot it, the message says "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings".Recently I noticed my computer was heating faster (and hotter) than usual so I ran a search again and it said no threats were found. I have ran the search twice since then and still nothing. I was advised to use ccleaner, malwarebytes, and Super Anti-Spyware. It removed one other threat but the problem was still there. I then started using combofix, but I did not like the look of it so I stopped that scan. It seemed a little sketchy. As of this morning, I'm having the internet problem. My old laptop (the one I'm on now) and my girlfriend's laptop work fine. I connected it with the Ethernet cord and that didn't change anything. I have Windows 7. It's on a 2010 Samsung (I'm not very tech savvy so I'm not sure about all the other details).
I need to change my DCS-942L camera settings remotely when I am not connected to my home wireless network. When I am at home, I just type in the local IP address of the camera (192.168.0.100) into my browser to access the firmware. How can I do the same when I am away from home and obviously not connected to the local WiFi?
bought a second hand laptop but all previous owners details are still in. they must have been on a dial-up network want to change to broadband, how? also need to sort out wifi.
I have a RCA modem from comcast high speed internet. Also have a Linksys Cisco Wireless-N Gigabit Router model # WRT310N V2. When I connect the internet directly into the computer, I get download speed up to 21.07 mbps and upload speed of 3.07. When I connect through the router download speed 1.31mbps and upload speed of 1.01.I have no clue how to make changes to the router.
When I change a setup setting and click save settings, most of the time it gets stuck on the "saving..." notification window and eventually I get a "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" notification. However I have found that if I repeatedly try it eventually it will accept the change. This never happens using the wizards only making manual changes. I am running the camera with a Wi-Fi connection. I am not sure this is a router or camera firmware bug (running V1.12)
The other day i was on my mums laptop (ASUS X5DIJ) at her house all working fine the battery died so i plugged it in and started it up again however the charger cant have been fully connected and once back in windows the battery died again on the next boot i noticed windows said it had found the system CMOS/real time clock and had installed drivers for it. checked the driver details it says no driver files are required just like it should ever since then it connects to the network but will not connect to the internet at her house or at mine through wireless and ethernet cable although all other computers work fine windows troubleshooter says "Windows could not automatically detect this networks proxy settings"
I've tried resetting routers and laptop = no change netsh winsock reset and netsh int ipv4 reset = no change ipconfig /flushdns = no change ipconfig /registerdns = no change
I have a broadband connection and recently I bought a new D-Link wireless router for accessing internet on my Android phone via Wi-Fi. Router model no. is N 150 DIR-524.After configuring it was working fine for a week or so and then one fine day internet stopped working on my PC and router LED for internet was not glowing as well. So I called my ISP and they changed my ethernet card settings (nVidia). They changed the 'Speed/duplex settings' from 'Auto Negotiation' to '10 Mb Half Duplex' and then the internet started working. During this they had disconnected my router. Once they were gone, I reset the router and connected it back. Since then it ain't working Internet works fine when the cable is plugged directly in the ethernet card but doesn't work when plugged via router. Router does everything right from opening the '192.168.0.1' page to saving the settings. But there's no internet access.
I am working on installing a new 2500 Controller with 2 AIR-LAP1242G's attached to it. I have both registered and on the controller but I am having trouble moving one of them to a new IPS AP group that I created. Furthermore, I noticed the default gateway is missing from the static ip settings and I am unable to add that as well. When I add the default gateway and hit apply, the controller does nothing. Same thing for when I try to change my WIPS device to monitor mode.
A couple other things that I noticed is that when I go to AP groups and try to remove the AP's from the default group, there is no remove button when you go inside the default group like I see when i go into my IPS group. The AP's are on software ver 12.4(23c)JA3 Boot ver 12.4.13.0 and the controller is at 7.0.22.0I have already power cycled the controller and both AP's.

all my systems are configured under "IP & MAC Binding". Binding is activated globally and all check marks for every ID are set. After i finished my configurations, the "ARP List" status shows, that everything is bound - so far everything is great. The problem appears after a router reboot or after shutting the router down and powering it on again. The "ARP List" then shows only a few of my IDs and their status is unbound. I need to go back to the "Binding Settings" and hit "Save" - after that all my IDs appear in the ARP-List and everything is OK again.
I installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.
I have a tablet running Ubuntu 9.04 with a USB connection to a host computer. (Ideally the host is running Windows, but if absolutely necessary I could switch the host to be Ubuntu also.)
I want to be able to SSH into the device without RS-232, WiFi, or other network connection. What software combination and setup do I need to make this happen?Basically, I'd love the be able to have the equivalent of adb shell, but for when the tablet is running pure Ubuntu, not Android.
I have Squid proxy installed on a ubuntu box here. Currently all my PC's use my ADSL modem as their default gateway but what i wanted to do was see if it was possible to use the ubuntu box as the default gateway, and have it route through Squid to my ADSL modem.
When I click on Network under Places I can see Windows Network folder. When I click on the Windows Network folder it displays an error message of Unable to mount location...Failed to recieve share list from server.
I've finally made the jump into Ubuntu and put it on my laptop. I have never used Linux before so it will be a bit of a learning curve although it does look quite user friendly.
I have already connected my Ubuntu laptop to my wireless router so I have internet. I would just like to be able to access files on my PC and vice versa similar to Windows Homegroup but I have no idea how.
PC = Windows 7 Ultimate - Laptop = Latest version of Ubuntu (I think it's 11?)
I am wondering how to share my mac desktop's wifi to an ubuntu 12.04 box via ethernet. I know how to share the internet from the mac but don't know how to connect to it on the ubuntu box. I have made ipv4 connection but internet doesnt work on both.
