My sis has a toshiba satellite laptop running vista and she cant go on the internet while mine and my dad's can.Her computer was able to go on the internet but then suddenly she cant. I've searched everywhere, i tried resetting the TCP/IP, setting a static IP address, even returned the laptop to factory settings, but no luck.The network page stays as: Computer----------unidentified network-------x------internet[CODE]

i have a vista laptop and has connected to my old home network no problem i have now connected it to my new home router and connects to it fine but cannot get internet through it? other pcs can fine. i have looked over settings best i can and dont see why it should be able to recieve internet. it sends and recieves data to the router. and others get internet from it?

But I can see the network, I can ping every computer on the network, just can't get to the internet.Reinstalled all the drivers, tried renew, netsh commands, flushdns, disabled & reenabled. 2 other computers connect to the internet and each other with no problem. Can connect to other WI Fi's too, but still no internet access.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter a couple of hours using the internet, the connection stopped. The wireless router still had an 'Excellent' signal, but it also said I had no internet access. All of the other wireless devices in my house connect to the internet perfectly, including when right next to the laptop.I've tried disabling the firewall and resetting the computer a few times, but nothing seems to pick up the internet access. The troubleshooting guide tells me that it is a problem with the wireless modem, but quite obviously that isn't true.

I have an E4200, and upgraded to Connect Cloud. It was buggy, and so I downgraded to the firmware before that. I have all the computers working fine in the house except my desktop. it connects fine to the network, can see the other computers on the network, can even do a windows update. But when I go to use google chrome or internet explorer it just wont access the internet. It doesn't seem to work either if it is a wired connection, or a wireless connection It was fine before the upgrade and subsequent downgrade. The laptop connects to it, but it shows me that it does not have internet access.I also have a belkin router that I also use. So, when I have the connectivity issues, I connect to the other router. When I use the Cisco Connect application, it goes on for a couple of minutes and then gives the message "If you are not connected to my router SSID name you can't update your router settings".

Due to lack of space and generally needing to be refreshed, I used my recovery CDs to "factory reset" my laptop to the way it was when I bought it. After it finished I attempted to use the Internet wirelessly and it would only connect locally. I chose to repair the signal in the "network and sharing" window and it said it could not communicate with the DNS server. I plugged in the Ethernet cable and it jumped right online. I used windows update and after 4 hours of updates and restarts, I tried wireless again it only connects locally. Back to ethernet I logged onto HP website and tried to scan my computer for driver updates with there tool but the site was down. I checked my adapter and it is an atheros 5007 but when I searched for atheros or atheros drivers I couldn't find anything that seemed legit. They don't have a website? I read forums and found posts of people shutting off a DHCP broadcast flag with good luck. I found a few �having problems with the same adapter as myself but none of this started until I restored it this time. ( I have restored it 2 times before with no problem). My next step was shutting off all the security. It worked and everything was great until i turned the security back on. It reverts back to local only. I tried wpa, wpa2 and no luck. The only thing I can think of is that my drivers are old, I checked the version of windows and it still is on sp1, why hasn't it updated to sp2 yet?

I opened up port 1723 with PPTP protocol on my E4200 router.On the client i am running win7 x64 as well. I am able to connect to the vpn, from another internet connection, but there is no local network acess. It says the status is No Internet Access. and the IP that is assigned is the 169.x.x.x one that windows defaults when it doesnt find a dhcp server.How can i get the client to connect with full local network access. Have pinged without any response however the wifi or hardwire will show connected to the local net.I have four other units surfing the web fine and wifi picks up ok except for one unit that my neighbor need will not connect no matter what. My computer receipt lists "integrated 10/100 network card" and "intel 4965AGN wireless-N mini card".I can't access the Internet.When I ran the setup from the drivers disk, I chose intel 8255x-based PCI ethernet adapter (10/100). My other devices have issues too. There are 3 base system devices an Ethernet controller device and video controller that have the yellow exclamation points by them, as well as the network adapter.

It's great, but I ordered a rosewill wireless adapter for it and noticed that my connection strength and speed are both pretty terrible. I went on amazon and bought a TP-Link wireless adapter(TL-WN822N). I installed the most recent "V2" drivers from their website and upon disabling my rosewill adapter and enabling the new TP-Link adapter, I was able to connect to the network, but not access the internet. I have tried power cycling the router, using the reset switch on the router, restarting my computer, and a bunch of commands that I found on this site. Is it possible that I have a defective adapter?
Also, some more information: My isp is comcast and the router is from them as well. Here is my ipconfig /all log for the rosewill adapter(internet access):

My computer connects to an unscured wifi near my home and i have internet acces for a few minuets, then it just stoppes. Sometimes if i reconnect it will run for a few more minuets 5-10. I have tried two different computers with same results. about a month ago the connection worked fine. This just started recently.I can connent and access internet at other public places with no problem. The wireless activates and finds wireless connections and auto connects with no problem but "No Internet Access".It seems it cannot retrieve an IP address from my local DHCP server. I am on a home network.I have already reset my router and other computers on my network are not having any problems getting connected, and I've also re-installed driver.Dell Wireless WLAN Card Uitilty reports "Pass" on all Hardware Diagnostics, and passes all Connection Diagnostics up to Gateway IP Ping.Link Status shows Gateway IP address not available, and Client IP as 169.254.13.90.Setting manual IP info on the wireless adapter to match my network does not work either.After manually setting the IP information on the adapter, IPCONFIG shows the IP info I entered, however, pinging the Client IP returns "General Failure"Inspiron 1720 running Win7 with Dell wireless 1505 draft 802.11n WLAN mini-card.

Local business tech said it was probably the hard drive & wanted to install new hard drive ($260). I feel perhaps I need to update driver for wireless modem, etc. But since I cannot connect to internet, I have no way of updating (I'm using my newer Windows 7 laptop currently which does connect thru the router). Can I download a driver onto a flash drive & install that way? Also, is there a way I can test the XP computer by connecting directly to the router with a cable & if so what kind of cable do I use to check if it will connect? I'm trying to research any possibility of fixing this XP computer because it's too expensive to fix hard drive. Also, everything else works on XP laptop, except Norton which needs to update & cannot without connection.
