Cannot log on to windows 7 enterprise pc. Adminstrator username account is okay to log on with. Comes back error message - "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."

I have 2 desktops and a laptop accessing a wireless Motorola modem using roadrunner broadband. My desktop/Vista and laptop/Windows 7 are working fine. My older desktop with XP has a wireless card and shows that the wireless is connected with great signal strength but won't access Internet Explorer. I keep getting an error message. I have tried re-setting up the wireless and shutting down the machine ,etc. I have seen a few older posts that suggest downloading some software, etc
I have a server computer running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard operating system with 4 client computers connected to the network running Windows 7 Professional operating system. All worked great yesterday. This morning, one of the client computers encountered this error:
An error occurred while reconnecting F: to \SERVERData
Microsoft Windows Network: The user name could not be found. This connection has not been restored. No updates or changes have occured between yesterday and today and the three other client computers have no similar problems.Just this one client has the error.
I just got a new laptop, and for the most part have left its settings alone. Today I was trying to get some sharing going between my desktop and the laptop. Both machines are connected to the same wireless network and both machines consider that network to be a Home network. Both are running Win7 Home Premium. It seems like my laptop is aware of my desktop on the network. It can ping it by IP or by computer name. When I go to Network from the laptop, I can see the desktop in the list of computers. However, my desktop cannot ping the laptop, nor can it see it within Network. My desktop has a Homegroup set up, but my laptop says "There is currently no homegroup on the network". I do have network discovery turned on for both machines. Why can my desktop not "talk" to my laptop but it works the other way around?
Update: Disabling the Windows Firewall on the laptop somewhat fixes the problem. With it disabled, my desktop can ping my laptop, but still my laptop can't see the homegroup. Also, it can ping via hostname, which resolves to IPv6, but can't ping via the IPv4 address. Obviously I'd rather not leave my firewall disabled, so I need a more specific fix.
Update 2: Aha! It is the Cisco VPN software I was running to connect to work computers. Once I disconnected and exited from that, the two PCs seemed to be talking normally and the homegroup was visible to the laptop. So now my question has morphed: how can I prevent Cisco VPN from interrupting my home networking?
I'm running a Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition server that is currently the domain controller, and a Windows 7 Ultimate client. I have a 'Test' user for messing around with group policy - anyway, on the client Start Menu it has 'Test User' which leads to some form of libraries folder. Is it possible to restrict the link without removing their name?
We are running ACS 5.2 patch 6 and want to restrict access for users to be able to add devices to the system. For example, admin person in site A can only add devices into the site A group and cannot see/access other sites groups.
We are using an ASA 5510 and remote access (SSL VPN) using the AnyConnect client.
Is it possible to display a user message when a user connects using the AnyConnect client, matching a specific dynamic access policy? Can the message be displayed when the action is "Continue" rather than "Terminate"? I can't seem to get this to work and wondered if there was a LUA function to do this.
We have a DAP which gives a restricted ACL when the user's anti-virus is out of date, and I wanted to notify the user to update their anti-virus and reconnect.
I'm creating a forms section on our intranet, I want to be able to link direct to specific forms so that it opens immediately. Currently all our forms are MS Word templates that you access by opening MS Word and navigating to the template that is stored on the c drive which staff cannot access directly from their pc's as it is 'locked down'.Now... I can create a url that opens the form directly (i.e. without needing to open Word and navigate to the form template) however that url contains a userid e.g. c://programfiles/word/my-userid/leave-form.doc I obvious cannot use such a url on our intranet to link directly to a form because only I would be able to open the form as it is my userid!
I have a Active Directory user that cannot log onto any computer that's on my organizational domain. The error is "You cannot log on because the logon method you are using is not allowed on this computer"
I just set up my computer & wirelss network after moving. Problem is its been so long since I originally set everything up I cannot remember things like my password or user key.
On one of my computers one user cannot connect to Internet. The following message appears: The Proxy Server is refusing connections. Check your proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.Changing users to another account and there is no problem connecting. This computer currently has an unresponsive keboard. The above changes and connections are accomplished using only the mouse.Runs on Windows XPHave posted the following thread in hardware:The keyboard on one of my computers is totally non responsive. I am having an issue with connecting to the internet on my laptop. I have never had this problem before and after google-ing it, it appears that a lot of other people have the same issue. I had a message pop up that said something along the lines of 'another user on your network has the same ip address as your computer.' I lsot my connection, but was then able to re-connect. However, now I am permanently disconnected from the internet. I have reset my wireless adapter and that hasn't worked. I'm currently using my mum's computer and her internet is working fine.
I was wondering if it is possible to track and or log the changes that users make in in LMS 4.1. For an example if someone changed a configuration I want that being logged. I want to see what the person changed, when it's changed and who changed it.
what is the best way to do a acquistion on ip address on devices that appear to be dead until ping before LMS4.1 reports onn them. For example we run acquistion on a branch we do not see 172.20.12.51, howver we ping it from my desktop Claims unplugged when plugged in, and says "safe to remove" when I unplug the cableand then run user tracking and then it shows up.
My new Windows 8 computer is not wi-fi capable, I bought the adapter but it only works with Windows 7, they have a link to upgrade to Windows 8 but I don't know where to go from there.
I cant connect to internet but other user can. We use the same laptop but my internet connection was cut off whereas my son's internet connection on the same computer is working fine. I have used cable as well with no success. Obviously there is nothing wrong with the router or cable or wireless but there must be something wrong with my user settings. My son is using the same computer and can connect fine to internet as another user.
We have a computer running Windows 2000 Pro that used to connect to a domain at work. Upon bootup, it asks for the user/password.Yesterday we tried to connect it to a little home network by changing the domain to a workgroup with a different name (network name that i used at home) as well. Now when it boots up, asks for a user/password, but now it does not recognize my user name and password.I can log in as an administrator to the Workgroup with the new name. but i cannot access the old Domain with its user and passwords. I tried to change back to the old name and to domain, but when doing that i get and error messsage which says: The following error occurred validating the name "xxxxxxx" (network name that I use at home) this condition may be caused by a DNS lookup problem. so I'm not sure if a should run the clear DNS cache. and if in doing that I'll be able to restored it back to the stage that i was before I made the changes.
reset my username and password as my wireless network is not secure at this moment. I'm using the DPC 3925 cable modem which I've just purchased from Starhub.
We have shared network drives on my network whose folder structure must not change. We have users who must have full access to the contents of these folders and be able to read/modify/erase and create new files inside these folders. However, the structure of the folders must not change so that other users/programs can locate files within these folders.
Some users sometimes "aggressively click" and drag and drop folders into different locations and can't remember where they dropped them. This makes them inaccessible for other users. We have a lot of folders so I implemented FileWatcher Simple program to monitor these folders and if there is a change in folder structure I get an email with an attached log. The log tells me which folders got created/deleted/renamed and I am able to restore the folder structure if need; but I cannot see who caused these changes.
1. Is there a way for me to see which user in my domain modified the folders?
2. Is there a way to disable users from drag and dropping, deleting, renaming folders yet still maintain full access to the files within these folders?
