Referring to the attached network diagram, I cannot communicate past the ap1121g-wgb in either direction. Also attached is a result table of ping attempts through the ap1121wgb from each side. I don't have a problem with the wireless connections. The ap1121g's associate ok. Based on the ping results the problem appears to be in the ap1121g-wgb configuration. I have a wrt350n at home and it works fine but it has only one little issue. When I connect my lap wireless I cant see the other work group pcs but if I wire the laptop there is no problem. I use ip to share files and not net bios but sometimes it would be great to find all the pcs on the work group easily and not memorize all the ips.
Disabled firewalls, updated firmware, tried to change network ip... nothing solved. Have no problems at work with an WRT54G.
Client has a building that is located 300Ft apart and would like to provide IP communications for 3-4 IP hadsets back to an IP PBX. They do not want to dig up the parking lot so we proposed using a wireless bridge. I noticed that Cisco discontinue the 1300 and 1400 Wireless Bridge. Can I use a 1262 with external antenna in Workgroup Bridge mode to perform this functions? I will put a Layer 3 switch on both ends to route traffic (3560C-8). Should I use the Yagi antenna's for outdoor use?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have some rolling carts used for telemedicine and are currently using Linksys WET610N wireless bridges. I haven't been very impressed with them - I have to reboot them at least once a week and figure it's a roaming issue. Since they are a residential product they probably weren't designed to do a lot of roaming.I started playing around with WGB and setup an 1142 AP and got it to work. Unfortunately, the only place I can put the AP is inside the cart and the metal top seems to be interfering with the wireless signal.

However i am having trouble in getting the bridge to work.First i tried to use WDS but this only killed my WRVS4400n and i am now trying the Workghroup Bridge mode on the WAP321.
On WRVS4400n i have enabled WDS and have tried both auto setting and Manual without any difference I am stuck with this status on the WAP321:
Network Interface Status and Statistics VLAN ID Name (SSID)
WLAN0UPSTRM Disconnected 1 myssid
WLAN0DWSTRM Up 1 myssid
It is the Infrastructure Client Interface setting that fails, i've tried both None and WPA pesronal Security setting with same result: Disconnected
I have a win7 desktop upstairs with all of my media on it.I also have a winXP laptop that I would like to use as a media center running xbmc connected to my tv downstairs.I have set up a workgroup so my laptop can access the media stored on my desktop and everything works great when they are both hardwired to my router (Linksys E3000).However, as soon as I unplug my laptop from my router and switch to the wireless connection I can no longer ping my desktop or access the shared folder (internet still works fine on the laptop, it just cant see my desktop anymore). If I plug it back in to the router, everything works again.
The exact error message I get when I try to access the shared folder is "\INFINITYMedia is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. [code]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to enable the workgroup bridge mode on the 5ghz 802.11N radio of a Aironet 1262N, but when I select the workgroup bridge mode from the GUI the radio becomes disabled. If I select the Access Point role from the GUI then the radio instantly becomes enabled. The same thing happens if I attempt the same procedure with the 2.4ghz radio as well. I can get the radios from both bands enabled if I select the Access Point role. I made sure to check that both radios were not set to workgroup bridge as well. I am running 12.4(25d)JA1 code on the AP. This is my first time working with this type of AP.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a few laptops at home and one desktop. I also have a work laptop which I carry to work every day. I have a lan at home. The computers are connected through a wireless router though my pc is connected through a lan cable. We are able to share files and content.
I sometimes connect my office laptop at home. Though the laptop connects to the network but I am unable to transfer or share files to other computers running Windows Vista/7. After a bit of research I figured this is because the workgroup name of my office laptop is different than the systems at home. I dont want to change the workgroup name of my office laptop as it will create problems at work.
How can I connected my office laptop to the network and transfer files if the workgroup name is different? It does show names of computers on network but when I try to connect a username & password box pops up.
When somebody opens my computer in workgroup it should ask user id and password.I mean if they type \mycomputer in run command, it should ask user id and password.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a computer running Windows 2000 Pro that used to connect to a domain at work. Upon bootup, it asks for the user/password.Yesterday we tried to connect it to a little home network by changing the domain to a workgroup with a different name (network name that i used at home) as well. Now when it boots up, asks for a user/password, but now it does not recognize my user name and password.I can log in as an administrator to the Workgroup with the new name. but i cannot access the old Domain with its user and passwords. I tried to change back to the old name and to domain, but when doing that i get and error messsage which says: The following error occurred validating the name "xxxxxxx" (network name that I use at home) this condition may be caused by a DNS lookup problem. so I'm not sure if a should run the clear DNS cache. and if in doing that I'll be able to restored it back to the stage that i was before I made the changes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a network based from a server where data is stored, such as Quickbooks files, and an employee has a laptop instead of a workspace. He needs to be able to access the Quickbooks file from his computer- we are currently using Remote Desktop Connection, however it is proving to be quite complicated for him and I need to know how to set it up. View 3 Replies View RelatedTo start off, I work for a small business where we do not have an IT department
One of our users changed his domain to a workgroup (made us rethink who has admin access on all our PC's) thinking that it would somehow fix the problem he was having with not being able to print anything to a network printer. Well, this promptly called for a restart and upon restarting would not allow him to log back into the user account.
This all makes sense to me as to why it will not let him log-in using credentials that he is no longer a part of due to security restrictions. But my question is how do i recover the account? In other words, how do I go about rejoining that user account to the domain that everyone is located on.
If all new user accounts are defaulted to join the domain, how come its not just as easy to move a user from a workgroup back to that domain?
Also, the machine is running Windows XP. It's critical that I get the old user account set back up because it was used for Outlook e-mail as well as several important documents/spreadsheets. I know that none of these files are lost as I can still navigate to them through the Local Disk. But really I would like to get the old user account working instead of having to copy/paste all the old content to a new user account in order to hopefully retain all old settings and configurations. tl;dr A user on our domain moved his user account to a workgroup and now is unable to login or access his user account. How do I move the user account back to the domain?
I have a friend who is looking at getting a new computer and he would like to know if he'll be able to share files and printers and maybe an Internet connection between his XP Pro computer and a new Win8 one using a Workgroup with no DC.

I can do that with any Linux CD. I don't have any data I want to recover. That was all stripped off before I got the PC. I do want to keep all the applications. If I reinstall XP, I will loose all the applications. I now know I can only logon to the administrator account if the PC is connected to the domain server. If I can restore the domain name, I can log on to the PC again.Where is the domain / group info kept and in what format? Is there a way of using a Linux CD to manually edit the XP files to restore / add a domain??
