It says I'm connected, but when I try to get online, it says I'm on the local intranet and "THIS PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED". How can I get it to the internet instead of local intranet?
View 3 RepliesI'm currently living in an apartment on my school's campus and I'm using their network for all my internet needs and such.One of my roommates recently bought a new Samsung Smart TV Model:PN59D8000F.The wireless here sucks so we've been hooking the ethernet up to the tv for internet access.It was working fine at first, but then all options on the tv requiring a network shut down. Now, when we first arrive at school our laptops are put into a remediation mode to make sure we have virus protection and all that good stuff, and I believe that might be what is happening with the tv's internet access.Not exactly sure,

Computer will connect to non secured WIXFDR-117 Clear wirless but when I set any authentication security types it only connects to the modemn and not to the internet.I get a Local connection only on the networking screen.I have tried WPA and WPA2 with TKIP and AES encryptions.It also will not connect using the ethernet cable on any settings.This computer did connect to a secured network though a 3 year version of netgear but I do not know the security settings.
Sometimes for a minute sometimes all day until I reset modem/router. It never says not connected though...it always says connected and excellent signal strength but when it won't access internet I can look at my modem/router and tell by the lights its not working even though it says connected. This time even though I reset everything like normal I still can't access internet. I thought it might have been my router so I went and bought a new one and still nothing. Doesn't work wireless or through local connection. Both say connected but nothing. When I do a diagnostic I get the DNS 0x2afc and HTTP 12007 errors. Both computers won't connect so I'm thinking it has to do with my actual router settings or modem.Both Windows XP and Windows 7 laptops won't work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get my wife's new 'All Fine 7" netbook Windows' connected via wireless connection. I had a muted attempt at it but so did my daughter and her boyfriend. I've got as far as it saying 'connected' but as soon as it does I get a message; Error from RasDial. I think I have created some conflicts perhaps! In the control panel I have done the following:'Internet options' under 'Connection' I've highlighted 'USB 'Network & Dial-up connections I have a choice of 'My connection' 'Main Computer' 'RT28701' & 'ENC28J601' The connection I have so far seems to be using the RT28701.My other option to 'USB is to select 'Desktop @ 19200' but that didn't seem to work either.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI attached WD My Book Mirror 2TB to E4200 with firmware 1.0.01 but it was very UNreliable. It would give I/O errors when I tried to access the harddisk. So I upgraded to firmware 1.0.02. Now E4200 doesn't recognize my hard disk at all. Yes, my hard disk is in the list of tested devices using NTFS.I contacted support but no luck.
I also have bad range with this router where I am only about 20ft from the router (2 walls in between) but I get about 3 bars out of 5 on my Windows 7. Could it be because I purchased a refurbished product directly from Cisco?
I have been trying to resolve what I think is an issue with DNLP or broadcast data getting to computers connected to my E3200. I have been wiresharking my network, trying different configuration, and scouring the web looking for an answer. My network is setup as shown below. The E3200 is on the same subnet and wired to the switch using the LAN port.DHCP is turned off. UPnP is enabled. DHCP is provided by the WRT54GL and turned off on the E3200.
WesternDigital has a program called "WD QuickView" and another called "WD Smartware" which together provide feedback about the drive status and real time backup capability (I prefer not to argue the +/- of these programs if folks don't mind <grin>). I have two computers on the wired LAN at the 16 port switch on which these programs work just fine. I get feedback about the drive status and backups occur. I also have two computers on the wireless LAN through the E3200 which DO NOT get feedback about drive status and appear not to detect the drive through the software. I CAN however access the drive by mapping it on Windows explorer for example.
With wireshark I do see chatter between the NAS and the E3200 (TCP traffic which I am not sure about...dpkeyserv stuff). I see broadcasts from the NAS to 239.255.255.250 often followed by talk between one of the wired computers and the NAS (which I am thinking is the comms for the WD...not sure though). I do not see chatter between wireless connected computers and the NAS (except for SMB or transferring files). It seems that the E3200 is not forwarding broadcasts to the computers connected to it even though it is connects as a switch.
I'm looking at doing an intranet project at work. What i want is to have one main machine that will have a forum and website on (probably Windows IIS on Windows 7). Then i want to have approximately 10 other users on laptops that can connect to my intranet forum and site via "wireless" connection, but at the same time none of those 10 laptops or my main machine having any "internet" access. Is this possible and if so how

I've tried ad-hoc but it limits me to using the preset shared folders only, and its frustrating to use as it breaks once a computer leaves the network.Anyways i just want to create an off-line wireless intranet that will remain persistent even when all computers have left it. This doesnt seem to be possible with built-in windows tools, what program will let me do this?

-I have (2) HP Pavillion dv6000 laptops running on Vista
-I have (1) iPad 2
-I am using a Belkin Surf N300 router
We lost power due to a storm last week, and both of my laptops would not connect to the Internet. I could connect to the router with access saying local only. I called Belkin and they changed some information on my laptop to allow me to connect. Now, I have the same issue with my other HP laptop and again called Belkin but they could not fix the issue. I can connect to the router and use the Internet on my iPad and (1) of my HP laptops, but not my last one. Even when I connect to the router with an Ethernet cable, it says local only access and no internet connection. So I did the ipconfig /all on both laptops and here is what they say..

The internet here is Local Are Connection, the one with the cable, and it says I am connected, 100 Mbps, but no internet access! I can't browse or open anything that has to do with the internet... View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently took my Dell Inspiron1545 out of sleep mode and my wireless internet connection no longer works.i have tried power cycling the 2-wire modem and the Cisco Valet router and resetting as well. I also have another laptop and xbox that use this network and are having NO issues in connecting and working perfectly fine.
The only device not working is the Dell laptop. the question is why is this showing that Gig0/3 is being used twice to connect to two different devices. I have verified there is no hub connected to this port and in fact Switch3 is not connected to Switch1 at all yet it still shows up in the CDP table.
I have cleared the CDP table on every device at this location and still get the same results.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to setup a local DNS server to manage small office local-only domain names for our servers. i have the DNS working properly (resolving local machines and using the ISP dns if it can't). so i put the DNS server ip into the "Static DNS 1" field of the router settings. the other 2 static dns fields are empty.the problem is that the router is still using the ISP dns server as the primary and my local dns server as the secondary. i verify this in two places. first, if i go to the "status" tab, DNS 1 shows the ISP server while DNS 2 shows my local DNS server. secondly, if i connect to the wireless device with a linux-based machine, the /etc/resolv.conf file shows the nameserver ips in the same incorrect order.
