Is it possible to pin out a DB37 (RS422) for DB25 (RS232) data port on a Satellite Modem? The question more so is can 232 data be passed through a 422/449 TX/RX Data port to a PC via a satellite modem?
View 1 RepliesI bought a new Toshiba Satellite C660 laptop with Windows 7 on Sept 1st, and had no problems at first with the mobile broadband. However, on Monday 13th I noticed massive spikes in the data usage. After browsing the internet for around an hour I decided to check my usage randomly, and it was at 350mb!Since then, there's times when I don't even have my browser open and in the space of 5 minutes it will reach 150mb of usage. There's also times when it works absolutely perfectly for hours on end (including today, where it was working fine up until around an hour ago!) I phoned the mobile broadband company twice last week, the first time the person told me that it was a computer issue and to go to an IT repair place.
So after sending him screencaps of Windows task manager processes/applications/network he can't see anything that could be doing it. He advised me to do a full antivirus scan, and full malwarebytes and ad aware scans and they've all come up clean.The second time I phoned the broadband company, they told me that there were some wrong settings, and that they've been changed now but if I have any more problems to ring customer care again.So after seeing an offer with a different mobile broadband provider, I decided to buy a new broadband stick and change networks in hoping that would solve the problem.... it didn't.
So there's definitely something about the new laptop that's causing the data usage to spike I don't use any torrent programs, and haven't been watching youtube videos constantly or trying to stream online, like I said there's been times where I don't even have Google Chrome open and it's using up all my data! I don't use Skype or anything like that either (to be honest I have barely any programs on this new laptop)I've turned off all the automatic updates for as many programs as I think can have them. Ii's definitely improved a bit though, but there are still times (like around an hour ago) that the data usage starts spiking randomly.
My new housemate from France has arrived and was going to connect wirelessly to my network. But when he clicks to join the network we are waiting for like 30 mins for the computer to connect. Then when we change the settings for WPA, it doesn't accept the WPA key. We've tried everything and dont know what we might be doing wrong or what settings. He has a Toshiba Satellite and Windows XP.

Recently I faced 1 issue in MLS 6509.MLS had all Gig modules in slots 6,7,8 taking System detected CRC error rate on port ASIC data bus exceed fatal threshold, ("System detected CRC error rate on port ASIC data bus exceed fatal threshold".) causing the module reset by the SUP. After this active SUP causing it to failover the standby. This process was continuing every few minutes resulting in the SUPs on MLS rolling.what could be the issue for Sup rolling reset?

View 14 Replies View Relatedserial modem US robatics 5686G is not detected on windows server on serial port com1. i tried to restart the server . turn the modem on and off disable the com1 port reenable it again . update the firmware of modem on different workstation and connect it back to server ( couse it's working on another workstation so it's not the modem) i really don't know what to do is there a trick for this like in registry or somthing in mouse settings that mouse could actully detected on com1 and don't let the modem to show up on device manager? by the way modem cable is serial cable i tried to change the cable as well non of my ways works?

Our current set up.We have a cable modem from comcast that has the Coax cable connected to it.The modem has 4 ports on it. The ports are connected to a built in 24 port switch that was already in the building. The switch has it's ports connected to outlets in the walls. Currently we have 4 computers on our network and since the cable modem had 4 ports it worked fine.
What we need? We will have another person join our office so I will need to activate one additional port on the switch that already exists. However, since all 4 ports on the modem are already taken, I have no way to add an additional port. They also want us to get wifi in the building.How I think I have to solve the problem (most likely wrong).I have to get another switch (like 8 port) and connect the cable modem to the switch using a cross over cable (if there is no designated internet port). Since I have the modem connected to the switch, I will have to move the 3 remaining connections to the switch.
Then I connect the 4 remaining ports on the switch to the existing 24-port switch that is already there. I will use one of the outlets in the building to connect an AP for Wi-Fi for better signal. Currently the modem and switches are hidden in a closet away from the office space and would mess up the signal.
