View 10 RepliesI just bought a D-Link DIR-615 N300 wireless router to use for printing between my laptop and HP4500 wireless printer. During setup using Verizon Mobile USB 760 modem for internet connection---it's not working--? Or is the only way to utilize is to have a DSL or Cable modem?

What settings Should I turn on/off or any config I should tweak ?
Can i connect my 3g USB modem to my dlink router directly through the usb port.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to configure port forwarding for FTP but in my case it isn't as simple as i assumed ... i have an actiontec router/modem that serves as incoming internet from my provider (FIOS), which i connected to my own router (dir-825). i mainly configure my network on the dlink and leave the actiontec alone.

I am having an issue opening a port (4040) on the 655 for my Fedora-based subsonic server. Inside the LAN, I can see the device from other peer machines, so I am confident the port is open and listening. However, I can't seem to get to the machine-port from outside/internet.
I have tried Virtual Server and Port Forwarding with single port. The server has a stactic IP which I've included in the DHCP range and outside the range. I have a DSL connection (AT&T), modem only. I have updated firmware. I have exhausted the Subsonic community's knowledge, everything points to the router, but all the settings seem correct. What am I missing? Is if possible there is a defect in the router? (don't laugh). Is there a way to trace a request to that port to see where it is hanging?
(yes, I've STFA, but don't know what else to do).

I have
A TP-Link TD-8817 Modem with IP Address 192.168.1.1
A TP-Link TL-WDR-3600 Router with IP Address 192.168.0.1
A PC with IP Address 192.168.0.100
I figured out that I can only enter an IP Address with the range 192.168.1.* when port forwarding on the modem, ie I cant enter 192.168.0.100 for the PC.Is there any way of Port Forwarding to the PC?
I was very happy working with my WRT610N connected to the ethernetport of my previous internet modem. Recently I had to switch to a new modem CISCO EPC3925. Unfortunately this combination does not work anymore. I don't get an internet connection on my WRT610N anymore. I therefore have to connect all computers (LAN and WIFI) to this EPC3925. Especially for the WIFI I'm not fully happy. My IPAD2 sometimes does not want to connect, a problem which never occurred when connecting to WRT610N.
I probably need to change a setting, but where? In the EPC3925 or in WRT610N?
I moved to a new apartment and have to wait a month or even more to get my DSL internet, so I temporarily got myself a USB 3G device to have some access to the internet till I get my DSL line.
The USB acts as 3G modem for a single PC that's connected to it, what I want is to share that internet using my D-Link DIR-655 router so I'd be able to connect my iPhone and PS3 as well.
How to get that setup working as smoothly as possible would be great. DIR-655's default gateway is 192.168.0.1, and the auto DHCP range IIRC is 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199.
I want to connect my tata photon device to my bsnl wifi modem via a usb portavailable on the bsnl modem. This is to provide a wifi network that i can use to surf the net on my phone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy desktop recently broke so i bought my first laptop. I have AT&T DSL and i bought a new D-Link DSL-2640B modem/router so i could have wireless internet. I installed it and i was able to use it with the ethernet cable, however when i tried to use wifi, it worked for only about 2 minutes before it disconnected.. Now when i try again it says that it is connected (full 5 bars) but it also says there is no internet access and i cannot use the internet.
Also, before, with the old modem i was able to just connect the ethernet cable to the laptop and just start using the internet. Now i have to connect by putting in my username and password provided by my ISP almost like if it was dial up. I don't know why i have to do this now but not before.

I have a broadband connection through a TV cable connection to a ISP provided modem/wireless box. I have a wireless network set up already from this box. I wanted to extend the wireless network to a hard to reach area so i bought a seperate router (d-Link DIR-615 revE3).
I connected one of the 4 LAN outputs from the modem to the router's "Internet" input. Windows 7 detected the new router's wireless network and guided me through setting up a name and password for it. However there is actualy no internet access on this network even though it's directly connected to the modem.I was thinking that i wanted to just extend the original wireless network but a new network is fine if only it would use the internet from its LAN connection... a desktop computer has connected from the same LAN output of the modem without any security and been able to access the internet from it.
When installing the DIR-615, router installs, but error msg that there is no internet connection. SmartConnect is plugged into the WAN and I have tried the ethernet cable to the computer in spots 1 & 2. Good connection when SmartConnect modem is connected to computer directly.615's Internet indicator will turn green for a while, usually less than a minute or two, then flashes, then may actually cause the routers status indicator to flash off, then back on. Like a reset.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using my DIR-655 for about 2 weeks now with Road Runner wideband services. Starting yesterday my internet became very slow and I discovered the cause was the router. I tried resetting it to factory settings and things will be fine and run smoothly for about 5-15 minutes but after that it goes back to being extremely slow. My speed tests would go from 10ms (normal) to 250-450ms. Before this issue occurred the Dlink was perfect, had full speeds. I am running a wire Ethernet connection.
I am currently using revB and tried upgrading firmware to 2.01NA which had no effect, but make my internet seemingly go back to normal for the first few minutes then nosedive again. I have also changed my speed/duplex settings in Network Config to 1gbs Full Duplex. I've also disabled QoS, and still no change. Not sure what else to do. When directly connected to the modem everything seems fine. The modem is also the provided Motorola SBG6580 which I have called Time Warner to set the modem into bridge mode and have the DIR-655 connected to it.
Can I connect a mifi device to a 3g/4g mobile broadband router w/ USB port where I can plug a 3g/4g dongle?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs of two days ago my DIR-655 seems to have stopped loading webpages every 10-30minutes for periods of up to 5-15 minutes, as in they the reloading icon will constantly be circling and the webpage remains blank, no error or anything until it says failed to load on my web browser (tried multiple browsers such as Safari, Chrome, IE and Firefox). This problem occurs on every computer on my network, laptops (both Mac and PC) and desktops. When this problem occurs all lights on modem and router seem to be normal no signs of anything going down but I originally thought that this affected wired and wireless but I seem to have narrowed it to culprit being the wireless. When connected to the PC I can browse for an indefinite amount of time without the webpages failing to respond, however when I connected to WiFi through Airport on a Macbook Air my webpages start to begin failing to load around 5-10 minutes of browsing which affects all computers connected to the network (essentially all computers failing to respond to the internet during this outage).
Interestingly when this problem occurs, if I am connected to Skype or Aim it will stay connected and I can still chat with people but I will not be able to sign onto AIM if the problem occurs before I sign on and I try to sign on during the outage. If I am streaming a video from justin.tv or ustream it still continues to stream during this "outage".I have the revB of the DIR-655 and have tried resetting the modem, turning off the firewall, upgrading firmware to 2.03NA from 2.01NA and setting the MTU to 1400 (default 1500) with nothing working. I am using Time Warner Wideband ISP and have connected the modem directly to my PC and for the 30minutes or so that I tested the web browsing it seemed fine and did not have any errors.
is it possible to connect the wan port of a cable modem to a lan port of the home network? the reason is, i need some wifi access and more ports to my wired network, and the most reasonable solution would be a cable modem router with wifi and 4 ports just plugged into one of my routers.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am facing a strange problem with my DIR 601 router. I am not able to access internet when I plug in the cable from my model to slot marked nternet' on the back of the model (which I guess is the right way). However, I can access the internet if I plug in the cable coming from modem into any of the 4 ports marked as 'LAN'.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some questions about DIR-655 want to ask.
1.I use it as a AP, no connection in the internet port, however I only see the DNS setting in the WAN interface, so some url setting can not normally run. Do it has AP mode or other setting that can resolve the DNS.
2.I notice that the Time will suddenly wrong something, even I set it to use local time or ntp.
3.I change the wireless setting to WPA Enterprise, and notice that always disconnect and reconnect, When it is disconnect, notebook and phone can not search the wireless, but ping in local is still alive, log also only show that reconnect, what is happen?
4.I run the internet wizard (not at beginning), I do not change new password in the second phase of wizard, however, after the end of wizard, restart the DIR 655, I can not use the password I set before to login and also I try to leave blank in password flied, it also failed, I use the same password in the user(not admin), I can login, is it the bug of wizard, if this situation need to reset the router, can I take the config first?
I am looking for a 3G mobile broadband wireless router WITH dual band frequencies and 4 gigabyte ports OR could the DAP-1350 be connected to my DIR 655 that at least has the gigabyte ethernet ports? (Would I connect it to the Internet port or to one of the Ethernet ports and turn the 655 into an access point?)
I have a sprint 250u Sierra USB for my Internet. There isn't anything else available where I live, and don't even get me started on satellite Internet .What I'd like to do is have an Internet connection with a wireless router with dual band frequencies and at least 4 gigabyte switch ports to share a NAS device that I'm going to buy in the near future along with a printer and surveillance camera. That way I don't have to have multiple wireless devices to connect to for what I want to be able to do.

ISP : Three mobile data sim
Possible to use a mobile via the usb connection on a TL-MR3020. The reason being is that my mobile data plan allows unlimited tethering through my phone...yet when I place the sim from the phone in the usb modem I get blocked by the provider stating that the sim can only be used in a mobile phone. Mobile data plans in the UK are very expensive and you get very little for your money.
Is it possible in the near future?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought yesterday a wireless modem/router and Tp-Link Adsl2+ N300 Modem Router Td-W8960n.I have 2 laptop computers at home. The first issue I have is that with one of the laptops (quite old - Acer Aspire 2420-2579 with Windows Vista Basic Service Pack 1) I can not connect (wireless) to the internet. It says local access only. However in other countries (IM in NZ) it does connect to internet. It does work when I use an Ethernet cable between my router and the laptop. The second issue is with my other laptop. A HP Pavillion DV-4 windows vista home premium service pack 2. I manage to get wireless access to the internet but every couple of minutes the connections drops and starts again by itself. After 1-2 min approx. it is getting pretty annoying!I dont think it is the routher as I also have an XBOX 360 connectet to the internet usign the same device and works absolutely fine!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just installed my new DCS-2121 and enabled upnp to be able to watch the feed from my mobile. While being on vacation I noticed that the feed redirected to some strange Russian site,[URL]Back home now, I noticed that the /m/m/index.html file contains an iframe at the bottom, that redirects there. So someone (not me) has been able to alter the index on the wap site and add that at the end some way or the other. While Googling I found only one reference on a French forum, and other than the lack of newer firmware for the camera no direct reactions to this.I tried with a simple PUT to put the original file back, without the iframe at the bottom, but there I get a 403.
- When can we expect new firmware to fix this HUGE security problem?
- How to restore the original (and yes, I tried a factory reset, but that doesn't restore the html files it seems)
- How did they manage?
It seems from the config db that it's an OEM'ed alphanetworks.com camera with a lot more options that d-link put in there. Any input from them maybe, it seems they are writing the firmware?
I installed the DIR 655 router using the install disk. I hooked up my Vista desktop machine via the ethernet port. I also activated a Roku box and my Itouch successfully via the wireless.I turned MAC filtering on and manually entered the MAC addresses for the three devises. Everything worked fine. After I rebooted the desktop, I could no longer get to the internet via the desktop connected through the ethernet. The Roku Box and I-Touch both work fine and enjoy a strong wireless connection.I've tried rebooting the desktop several times, but still can not access the web. I also can not access the router by typing in 192.168.0.1. I entered the configsys stuff and verifited that I am using the right numbers.

I don't know how to set my mobilephone wifi. It's made by HUAWEI.Then it cost me a lot.Who can tell me how to set it?
Application can connect, but doesn't get any response back. Bypassing router solves the problem.Looks like there are not too many settings I can change allowing/disallowing particular ports for outgoing traffic. How to fix this so I can watch mms streams?I called DLink support, opened the case DSI-400-927087.First rep there suggested to turn on multicast. Then rep asked to change link speed from Auto 10/100 to just 100Mb and to reduce MTU from 1500 in increments to 1400. So I had to revert to my old Linksys router BEFSR41 from 8 years ago. This one works fine with MMS streams.

I've configured my 655 and I can access the internet through it. Network cable from PC goes to the DLINK, DLINK to the DSL modem, DSL modem to the big scary internet. This all works great. Now for the Wi Fi.I've set up the Wi Fi on the 655 and can both see and connect to my newly configured home network from my laptop, but I can not access the internet from the laptop.
i just bought a Netgear WNDR4000 router due to troubles with my current modem/router combo (D-Link DSL2730-B). The router doesnt have in built modem functionality obviously so I need to set up the modem/router as a dedicated modem. Also should I use the current modem/router as the dedicated modem or an older model i own (I think its a DSL 502T)? Because the current one often drops the internet connection. Don't know if its a problem with the modem functionality or something else. Will the older one serve better since i didn't have any problems with that one or will it be outdated? I only upgraded due it not having wireless capabilities. Otherwise it's fine.Or will I be even better off buying a dedicated modem? I really don't want to spend more money but if this is a far better alternative I guess i will.
EDIT: Ok so found out that I have to put the modem/router in bridge mode in order for this to be possible. However, looking up how to do this lead me to a dead end because i need to fill in some fields that i have no idea how to interpret.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the DIR-655, Rev. B running 2.07NA firmware, and have a strange problem with my wired clients. I have my primary computer/desktop PC connected via wired connection. I also have several wireless clients (laptop, iPad, iPhones, etc.). All have been performing normally. However, in December I connected a wired weather internet bridge to another ethernet port on the DIR-655.
It functions as it is supposed to, and all other connected devices do as well. But here's the problem - whenever I use the desktop PC (the only other wired connection) to do anything on the internet (mostly just web browsing ... I don't stream media from the internet on it, I don't do torrents....nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing really of high bandwidth), the wired weather bridge cannot communicate with its associated website. This continues as long as I'm using the desktop PC. When I stop using the desktop, the weather bridge resumes normally.
I have researched the weather bridge, and it is simply doing POST transactions (or so I'm told) to the website listening to it. It doesn't wait for acknowledgements or anything...just keeps POSTing updates. I tried reserving an IP for the weather bridge and the desktop, enabling QoS, and prioritizing the weather bridge (100 vs. desktop at 125), but it didn't work. I've tried moving the weather bridge into the DMZ. I'm totally baffled how just using the desktop to browse the internet could completely block the traffic from the weather bridge.
On the weather bridge support site, they suggested that I insure I'm not connected in gigabit speeds from my computer to the router, because in the past that has been known to cause issues on clients not running that speed, but I don't think my desktop is connected in that fashion. According to the settings, it can do 10 or 100, full or half. I have it set to AUTO.
