I am facing a strange problem with my DIR 601 router. I am not able to access internet when I plug in the cable from my model to slot marked nternet' on the back of the model (which I guess is the right way). However, I can access the internet if I plug in the cable coming from modem into any of the 4 ports marked as 'LAN'.
View 2 RepliesI am having an issue opening a port (4040) on the 655 for my Fedora-based subsonic server. Inside the LAN, I can see the device from other peer machines, so I am confident the port is open and listening. However, I can't seem to get to the machine-port from outside/internet.
I have tried Virtual Server and Port Forwarding with single port. The server has a stactic IP which I've included in the DHCP range and outside the range. I have a DSL connection (AT&T), modem only. I have updated firmware. I have exhausted the Subsonic community's knowledge, everything points to the router, but all the settings seem correct. What am I missing? Is if possible there is a defect in the router? (don't laugh). Is there a way to trace a request to that port to see where it is hanging?
(yes, I've STFA, but don't know what else to do).
I was using this router and Malaysia TM UNIFI service. I can use wireless but can't detect the LAN port. I have try it to other modem router and it's working. Its keep showing my local area connection network cable unplugged and no signal at all. And the router was working well on other PC and notebook.Try many way but still can't work

I want to connect a Seagate 4Tb external HDD with USB 3.0 into the USB 2.0 port on the router to use the hdd as a NAS and run backups of the data files on the computers of my home network. The computers are running Windows 7 - 64bit. Plugging the hdd into the USB port on the computer lets it be recognized and ensured that Windows 7 had the most current drivers. When I plug the external hdd into the USB 2.0 port on the router and then plugging in the hdd and resetting the router, I still cannot get the computer to find the hdd on the network.

I have some questions about DIR-655 want to ask.
1.I use it as a AP, no connection in the internet port, however I only see the DNS setting in the WAN interface, so some url setting can not normally run. Do it has AP mode or other setting that can resolve the DNS.
2.I notice that the Time will suddenly wrong something, even I set it to use local time or ntp.
3.I change the wireless setting to WPA Enterprise, and notice that always disconnect and reconnect, When it is disconnect, notebook and phone can not search the wireless, but ping in local is still alive, log also only show that reconnect, what is happen?
4.I run the internet wizard (not at beginning), I do not change new password in the second phase of wizard, however, after the end of wizard, restart the DIR 655, I can not use the password I set before to login and also I try to leave blank in password flied, it also failed, I use the same password in the user(not admin), I can login, is it the bug of wizard, if this situation need to reset the router, can I take the config first?
I am trying to connect two D-link 24 port switches thru cat 6 cable, distance is less than 50 meters, but its not working but if i connecting it with a Laptop i am able to connect to the network. But if i connect the switch in between it fails i tried changing the switch and cable but no use anyone have a clue how it fails?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI installed the DIR 655 router using the install disk. I hooked up my Vista desktop machine via the ethernet port. I also activated a Roku box and my Itouch successfully via the wireless.I turned MAC filtering on and manually entered the MAC addresses for the three devises. Everything worked fine.After I rebooted the desktop, I could no longer get to the internet via the desktop connected through the ethernet. The Roku Box and I-Touch both work fine and enjoy a strong wireless connection.I've tried rebooting the desktop several times, but still can not access the web. I also can not access the router by typing in 192.168.0.1. I entered the configsys stuff and verifited that I am using the right numbers.

I've configured my 655 and I can access the internet through it. Network cable from PC goes to the DLINK, DLINK to the DSL modem, DSL modem to the big scary internet. This all works great. Now for the Wi Fi.I've set up the Wi Fi on the 655 and can both see and connect to my newly configured home network from my laptop, but I can not access the internet from the laptop.

I would like to connect a device (dataloger that sends data to a remote server via internet) which only has LAN port to a wireless network on the location. I managed to do this once with WA901ND configured in Client mode (WA901ND acts like a wireless card for this data loger).Does WR941ND support this feature (which feature should I use?) or should I buy WA901ND again?
I use an ADSL router through my phone line to connect to the internet.My ISP supports downloading speeds of 2 Mbps. This is reflected on my router status page. But I have subscribed for a plan of 512 Kbps. I feel what My ISP has done is that it has reduced the speed of port 80 somehow to 512 kpbps i get download speeds of 2 Mbps..Is there any way to access websites or download data from websites from a port other than port 80 ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the DIR-655, Rev. B running 2.07NA firmware, and have a strange problem with my wired clients. I have my primary computer/desktop PC connected via wired connection. I also have several wireless clients (laptop, iPad, iPhones, etc.). All have been performing normally. However, in December I connected a wired weather internet bridge to another ethernet port on the DIR-655.
It functions as it is supposed to, and all other connected devices do as well. But here's the problem - whenever I use the desktop PC (the only other wired connection) to do anything on the internet (mostly just web browsing ... I don't stream media from the internet on it, I don't do torrents....nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing really of high bandwidth), the wired weather bridge cannot communicate with its associated website. This continues as long as I'm using the desktop PC. When I stop using the desktop, the weather bridge resumes normally.
I have researched the weather bridge, and it is simply doing POST transactions (or so I'm told) to the website listening to it. It doesn't wait for acknowledgements or anything...just keeps POSTing updates. I tried reserving an IP for the weather bridge and the desktop, enabling QoS, and prioritizing the weather bridge (100 vs. desktop at 125), but it didn't work. I've tried moving the weather bridge into the DMZ. I'm totally baffled how just using the desktop to browse the internet could completely block the traffic from the weather bridge.
On the weather bridge support site, they suggested that I insure I'm not connected in gigabit speeds from my computer to the router, because in the past that has been known to cause issues on clients not running that speed, but I don't think my desktop is connected in that fashion. According to the settings, it can do 10 or 100, full or half. I have it set to AUTO.
I'm trying to change the way my network is set up by replacing an old cheap Switch with a newer Router that has some QoS options.
Modem: Motorola SBG900 LINK (provided by Time Warner, not purchased by me)
Old Switch: Zonet ZFS3008 LINK
New DLink Router: D-Link DGL-4100 LINK
Currently, my network is set up as follows, arrows being Ethernet cables:
Cable Modem w/ Wireless <-------> Old Switch <-------> 3 PCs and a Printer
With everything set up as shown above everything works fine, but I want to change it to:
Cable Modem w/ Wireless <-------> DLink Router via it's WAN port <-------> 3 PCs and a Printer
Simple change, right? Apparently not.A few things aren't working when I swap the DLink Router for the old Switch.
1. Internet does not work, though I can log into the DLink Router in a web browser and see all of the settings.
2. The IP address that used to go to the Modem (192.168.0.1) now goes to the DLink Router, and I cannot get to the Modem anymore via a web browser with any IP address.
3. The wireless from the Modem stops working.
4. I see the following when logged into the DLink Router and looking at the Status tab:

. . Cable Status :Connected
. . Network Status : Establishing (Please Wait...) (it never establishes)
I have noticed that the DLink Router and Cable Modem both are doing DHCP, and I am wondering if that is creating a conflict that is causing the problem. However, simply disabling DHCP for the DLink Router and otherwise leaving the connections as they are still does not get the internet working.

The following setup works as far as letting everyone online, but QoS rules in Gamefuel are not getting enforced:
Cable Modem w/ Wireless (DHCP enabled) <-------> Old Switch <-------> DLink Router (DHCP disabled) via LAN port, leaving WAN port unused <-------> 3 PCs
I can now log into the Cable Modem via 192.168.0.1 and the DLink Router via 192.168.0.2. The wireless internet is also working again as well. My PC uses Windows 7, the other two PCs we have are on Windows XP and Vista.
I am trying to get multiple PCs in a computer lab connected to the internet at the same time. There is an ethernet jack and right now the cord there is going into the linksys 8 port workgroub hub and then separate ethernet cords are wired from the hub out to each computer. But, this set up only allows the PC that is turned on first to connect to the internet. Am I using the hub wrong? Do I need another piece of equipment? The lab was set up like this when I arrived, but it is not working (I am thinking it did at some time).

I have a Dell Laptop Latitude 610 and I have not been able to connect to the Internet via the ethernet cable port for some four months now. I've tried downloading software from Dell's web site, I bought (and returned) and USB to Ethernet cable, only to find out that it was a model ahead of what this machine needs.I've asked local repair place (Microcenter) what it might be, but they'll only tell me after I pay $70 just to open it up.Another repair guy said that it is probably the motherboard and it wasn't worth fixing. However, to have the router replaced will take 2 - 3 weeks, meaning I have to buy another router if I don't want to be offline for that long. So I've decided to save up my money to buy a new modem, and I've found that by having wireless enabled at all times works around the problem.However, around the same time I started diagnosing that problem I was changing various settings. At the time I may not have mentioned I have 2 PS3's here. These stopped being able to connect to the internet at around that time, and the kids tell me they didn't tell me about it because they knew I was working on other router problems, but now they want their PS3's to work on line so they can play online games.I have tried automatic configuration and manual configuration. I have the MAC addresses in the router, have set them up in the Network filters, and have a DHCP reservations. I have used the routers DNS and also tried OpenDNS addresses.I keep getting error 80710102 (DNS error), and when I first turn on a PS3 807101FF. Both PS3s exhibit the same symptoms.

Long story short, this router can't connect to internet. I tried resetting the router, newest firmware, stock firmware, chaining the Ethernet wire, etc. Nothing would work. The weird thing is, I can connect to the router both wirelessly and through the Ethernet port, but the router can't "communicate" with my Netgear cg3000d. I used the wizard to set it up.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm having troubles getting my router to work today for some reason. I'm with teksavvy and I've had the router for 6 months now and this is the first time I'm having problems connecting to the internet.
Any laptops or desktops in the house that connect wirelessly cannot load anything related to the internet. If they are connected by an ethernet cable then only skype works for some odd reason. When I connect directly to the modem with my desktop it works perfectly. I tried unplugging the router for 5 minutes many times and that hasn't worked. I've tried power cycling through it as well, modem -> router -> computer and it does not work. I've also tried resetting the router as well, holding the reset button for 20 seconds. During the setup, the router could not detect an internet connection. After the setup it was the same situation as I started with. None of the computers can connect via router.

Is there any way of forwarding an external port to a different internal port on the TD-8970 ?I saw a question posed on an Australian forum implying that it might be provided in a later firmware release.Our TD- 8970 has replaced a previous NetGear WAG 320N which had this facility, and is useful to provide access to multiple machines without having to modify each individually to use a different port.
I have a D-link DIR-655 router which used to be able to connect to the internet fine through my modem. However, it wasn't connecting to the internet when I woke up this morning. I tried all the standard replacing the cables, powercycling the router, modem, and rebooting the PC. After trying all that, I used the reset button on the router and reconfigured manually by entering the IP into my browser and logging in that way, but still nothing. I can connect to the internet by plugging the modem directly into my PC, but connecting through the router or wirelessly doesn't work. I can connect to the network itself through the router, and wireless from my laptop, but it only has local access.

I have had this router and everything was working, I have moved and after getting my internet activated I proceeded to set-up a network in my new place. The setup process went smooth but even though I can connect to my network, I cant connect to the internet. I know my internet works as a direct connection through the modem works. I updated the firmware, I tried doing a factory reset on the router, basically did all the basic stuff that one would do if they had router troubles.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my tivo RS-TX20. I just got this for my daughters room on ebay. When going through the setup it wont connect to my home network. I am using a Microsoft MN-510 adapter. It finds the adapter in the initial setup but when it is finally trying to connect to the internet the connection fails and an error comes up saying the adapter could not be found. I am thinking it must have something to do with my DIR-655 router because I have the same exact tivo in another room and it works perfectly. I even took the tivo wireless adapter from that unit and tried and the same issue occured.
