View 1 RepliesI just restored my computer (Windows XP) to factory settings and it won't connect to the internet. I'm running an ethernet connection. I tried to look up a solution online but nothing has worked. Also, Im sure its not an issue with the modem, because all the other computers in the office are connecting to the internet just fine. It's only this one computer?
View 5 Replies View RelatedA few hours ago, I just restored my laptop to factory settings. Once it was done, I tried connecting to the internet but the computer could not detect ANY wireless networks!I already know it is not the modem or router because I have a Macbook Pro and two HP laptops that connect perfectly fine to the modem. I also made sure the wireless is on. The laptop with the problem is a Toshiba Satellite l645. It's running on a 64-bit Windows 7. When I try to look up wireless networks, it only shows 'MOBILE BROADBAND CONNECTION".

I installed the drivers that came installed on the PC.
I looked at the settings and confirmed that they were correct per my internet provider.
Enernet works and I can hook up using cable. But the PC used to auto detect all wireless connections available. Now it detects nothing.

For a few days now, my internet has been as the title suggests. A speed test has shown my download and upload speeds to be about 0.06 mbps each. Every once in a while, I try a diagnose and repair, and occasionally I get one of either "Reset your TCP/IP settings" or "Improve your TCP/IP performance", but neither works. I've tried resetting my modem and have done a system restore to no avail. Offline performance is good, RAM is in good shape, etc. AVG hasn't found any viruses or spyware. It's an ethernet cable, by the way.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI upgraded the firmware per one suggestion, but no difference.I am going thru the setup wizard with ethernet cable attached.  I want to use them wirelessly so I clicked wireless setup, and entered my network info.  At that point I get an error message saying it failed to save settings.  I know the ID and password are correct.I have tried exiting the setup wizard and accessing the camera thru the web interface.  All wireless settings are correct.  The camera works FINE on web browser, myDlink, and even my iPhone app as long as the ethernet cable is attached.Other wireless devices have no trouble connecting to my router.  Is there some setting on the router that can be preventing the connection?  I've done some trial-and-error changes, like different ports and enabling/disabling UpNp on both camera and router.Oh and almost forgot to mention.I did call tech support, which was a joke. Some foreign lady was reading off a script that told me to reset, unplug, reboot everything. Then she gave me a case# and said upgrade the firmware.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Buffalo WHR-G125 router which was given to me for free by my ISP for being a loyal client. At home I have a computer, a laptop and a netbook. The router is connected to the computer and I have no trouble accessing the Internet on all three of these devices. I can open pages, download etc.
However: However if I decide to host a server on some game, my friends cannot connect. After doing some research, I found out that certain ports are "closed" (whatever that means) and I need to open them in order for everything to start working again."
Anyway, I checked the infamous site "portforward.com" for instructions on how to open these ports. It was all fine and dandy, until the point where they stated I need to access my router settings page ("default gateway" or whatever, you'll have to excuse my ignorance). I entered "ipconfig" in cmd and it turns out my default gateway is 192.168.1.1. So I entered this in the URL bar of my browser and got a nasty surprise:
"404 Not Found The requested URL was not found"
I am truly stumped. The address is not accessible on neither the computer, nor the laptop or the netbook. I tried some automatic port forwarding software, but it didn't seem to do anything for me.
The only reason for this I can think of is that my ISP is probably blocking the router settings page for some reason (and how unfortunate, I can't even complain, because it's free, after all).
I tried asking on the official Buffalo forums and even tried asking for support and got pretty much the same message: "Try resetting. However, if it's flashed, you can't do anything.".
Not exactly sure what to do right now. My worries:
1.) I'm not even exactly sure how to reset the darn router
2.) I'm scared that reseting won't do a thing and even if it does, I'm not sure I'll be able to reconfigure the entire thing by myself and the worst case scenario, not having internet at all.
Is there any way to access the friggin router settings page?
There are several features that don't work and are returning errors. For starters, when trying to save settings for media/device prioritization I am receiving a 2123 error message. Unable to save settings. EA4500/N900 Router, Cisco Cloud Connect.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm only able to restore my settings from a backup taken in July 2011. Any backups that I take, say today for example, won't restore. Any attempts to restore them is returned with "The restored configuration file has been uploaded in failure." I haven't changed my router. The firmware remains the same. I'm using Firefox, though I believe I've always used Firefox to interface with the router.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedA couple of weeks ago, one of our ASA 5505s failed, and Cisco TAC shipped out a replacement. I was on vacation, and my assistant worked with TAC to get our backed-up configuration restored to the new hardware. This backup was just a copy & paste of the "show start," rather than an export done from ASDM. Anyway, since I got back on vacation I was able to iron out all the wrinkles from the configuration restore, except one. The remote access VPN isn't quite working. This VPN is only used in emergencies, when I can't access that branch office's network via our WAN.
Â
What's happening is that clients are getting "authentication failed" messages when connecting. On Windows, it's an error 691. The VPN is set to authentication against RADIUS (Microsoft IAS server). The IAS server reports that the connection and authentication is successful. AAA RADIUS authentication tests on the ASA succeed, as do authentication & authorization LDAP tests. Basically, everything was working fine before we swapped in the new hardware, and I've gone over the configuration with a fine-toothed comb to ensure nothing's changed -- but clearly, I'm missing something. The new ASA is otherwise operating perfectly.

I have been using my ACER tablet with my Netgear router for several months with no problems at all. Then last night I decided to restore my tablet to its default settings, meaning that all my programs, apps, files, etc., were erased. Then I rebooted my tablet and started from scratch, entering the requested information. Everything appeared to be going just fine until I turned on Wi-Fi and attempted to connect to my network (Secured with WPA2), which was available and showed Good signal strength. I clicked on it, then attempted to enter my password. As soon as I entered the first digit of my password, the option to Connect to the Internet immediately disappeared, becoming greyed-out. Repeated attempts to connect failed for the same reason.
I called ACER Level 2 Support and tried a couple of procedures which didn't solve the problem. One was pushing the Reset Button twice. The technician told me that I may have a problem with my router settings. He suggested that I go to a local fast food outlet and see if I could connect there. I went to McDonald's and was able to get on the Net without using a password. I returned home and tried again to connect, but still was unable to enter my password.
Would it make sense for me to completely disconnect my router from everything, then reconnect and go through that set-up process all over again? I guess I would have to change my User Name & Password, or whatever is required. Also, if I go this route, should I change my security setting from WPA2 to a different option -- WEP, for example? I just don't want to foul things up to the point where my laptop wouldn't work. I doubt that would happen. I recently received the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade which has been working satisfactorily; however, it does mean that I'm now attempting to start over from scratch with a different operating system.

View 1 Replies View RelatedTried up dd-wrt firmware few days back, I do really like it, but I do noticed my DIR-615 E4 Ethernet doesn't like my motherboard bundled Gbps Ethernet with dd-wrt firmware, and it's really un-stable, the link always up and down (Windows always report Ethernet link-disconnected!). So, I tried so hard to get into emergency page with IE8, Firefox with no success, the only browser can get into it is Google Chrome, but file-upload with Chrome always stuck!!! anyway, I found the SOLUTION!
**make sure you have the original firmware from DLink before you started the following procedure**
1. create a html file (dlink-recovery.html) with those following code (I got it dumped from Chrome! I've added "http://192.168.0.1" to form action)
<html>
<HEAD>
<META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type>
</head><body><form action="http://192.168.0.1/cgi/index" enctype="multipart/form-data" method=post>
<center><p><font color=blue face=Courier New, Courier, mono size=3><b> <font color="#FFFFFF" face="Courier New, Courier, mono">--
<font color="#0000FF">D-LINK</font></font><font face="Courier New, Courier, mono">Firmware Upgrade System </font></b></font></p><p><font color=blue face=Courier New, Courier, mono size=3><b>
[code]...
2. change your PC network adapter configuration "Media Type" to 10mbps full duplex in network adapter configuration->advance settings (hope you know where!)
3. change your PC network IP to 192.168.0.* (any number except 1!)
4. unplug the power from DIR-615, then press-and-hold the reset button while plugging the power back to DIR-615, hold the reset button until the power led-flashing!
5. use firefox to open the dlink-recovery.html which created from step-1, browse the original-firmware and submit. if success upload, you'll able to see the  'flashing' page with percentage counting up.
Just moved out for the first time, I have a modem but it came with a very short cable. That doesn't work. So I wanna know a couple things:
- What's the best to by, and what's safer: cable or wireless router?
- Is it easy to set up a wireless router with my original modem? I have a MacBook Pro early 2012 version.
- What type of router would you recommend for me? I live in a one room apartment, I'm the only one who will be using it, use internet for work, social networks, email, school, youtube...not big stuff.
I have forgotten my Netgear security/passphrase. How can I retrieve the original key or install a new one?
