I just restored my computer (Windows XP) to factory settings and it won't connect to the internet. I'm running an ethernet connection. I tried to look up a solution online but nothing has worked. Also, Im sure its not an issue with the modem, because all the other computers in the office are connecting to the internet just fine. It's only this one computer?

Once it was done, I tried connecting to the internet but the computer could not detect ANY wireless networks!I already know it is not the modem or router because I have a Macbook Pro and two HP laptops that connect perfectly fine to the modem. I also made sure the wireless is on. The laptop with the problem is a Toshiba Satellite l645. It's running on a 64-bit Windows 7. When I try to look up wireless networks, it only shows 'MOBILE BROADBAND CONNECTION".

I installed the drivers that came installed on the PC.
I looked at the settings and confirmed that they were correct per my internet provider.
Enernet works and I can hook up using cable. But the PC used to auto detect all wireless connections available. Now it detects nothing.
I've bought the EA4500 and configured it to connect to internet. it works fine.however, one day after it, it can't connect to the internet anymore.I go to the router setup page and try to manually connect it to the internet, but it keeps "connecting." I then restore to its factory configuration, then do the configuration again and it can successfully connect to the internet.however, one day after it, again, it can't connect to the internet anymore.

For some reason, it just stopped working yesterday. I initially checked all my cabling etc and everything seems fine. I next tried resetting my modem/router to factory settings. When I tried to install the Belkin software I fell at the first hurdle with a message saying "The setup assistant is not able to connect to the router". Couple months later my computer was saying I have "limited connectivity." All of the other computers have full access and works great. I tried going to my routers home page, but all I get is "The server at 192.168.0.1 is taking too long to respond." Ive tried renewing the ipconfig, restarting everything, new cables....everything I can imagine. I tried calling my ISP and they told me it wasnt there fault, that its pretty much on my end. Since the verizon modem, which is also router has been set into bridge mode and the d-link came into play its been extremely slow, and dropping connection. The router is in a separate IP class, and has no conflict with the modem. My question is, if I upgrade this firmware from 1.0 to 1.02 will it default to factory settings? I know it says only some will. I do have the backup config file, but i would be doing this remotely, and would not be able to get to this router if it goes down. Has anyone gone from 1.0 to 1.2 and saw a difference and speed, and are you able to do this without losing settings.

The technician turned out to be completely clueless, and he messed up one of the APs in the process. He changed its IP address and apparently updated its firmware, but he didn't write the new address down, so now I can't access its administrator panel. I've tried to retrieve the IP address using the setup CD that came with the AP, but it doesn't even see the AP in my network. I've tried to factory reset the AP by holding the reset button for 10, 30 and 60 seconds and unplugging the power cord, but to no avail. It still doesn't bring up the admin panel when I enter the default IP in the browser. I think I've tried everything I could find on the Internet about this problem that didn't involve cracking the AP open, but none of it has worked.

View 37 Replies View RelatedOur DIR-615 has started freezing and when reset (power cycled), it reverts to factory settings.This has been running 24/7 for several months with no problem. Three days in a row now I've woken up to find our home network is down and the DIR-615 status lights are "yellow". Power cycling the DIR615 resolves the problem however the DIR-615 looses its settings, reverting to factory defaults (looses the admin password, wireless settings, etc). I can reload the settings from a file saved on my computer but needless to say, this is a bit annoying. I don't believe there are any wireless clients connected at the time as most of the wireless is served by an airport two floors up. There are several wired devices always connected:
a Zoom ATA carrying our "land line"
a tivo (doing whatever tivo boxes do)
a SSL based Voip phone (different than the zoom ata)
an AirPort Express 802.11n (bridge mode) which may have a couple of wireless clients
a laptop which may or may not be sleeping at the time
There are a couple of ethernet switches in the network.Some of the devices acquire addresses via DHCP, others are assigned fixed addresses outside the range of the DHCP addresses served by the DIR-615.Nothing has changed on the network in months.
The only settings I've messed with on the DIR-615 are:
a) set the admin/user passwords
b) Set the wireless network name, enable WPA, set the WPA Key
c) enabled ntp (this is now disabled and I've set the time manually)
d) Change the network base from 192.168.0. to 192.168.4.
The DIR-615 is hardware rev E3, Firmware 5.10 The cable modem (from RCN) is a Scientific American model DPC2100R2

So I attempted to log into the device to see what was wrong and I was surprised to discover that all of the settings including user name and password had reverted back to factory default.
1. What are all of the possible scenarios that would cause this to happen?
2.Would disconnecting power in the middle of a boot up sequence cause the router to revert to factory settings?
My wireless adapter isn't recognized on my computer now :( it was working perfectly before. My computer keeps saying there is no driver for my adapter?

speed/duplex -> 100 mbps full
I tried setting it back to what it was before to no avail:
checksum offload -> Rx and Tx Enabled
Speed/Duplex -> Auto Negotiation
I'm still able to ping URLs and IPs, but cant get to any websites or even the modem page. I tried rebooting,power cycling...nothing works so far.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am setting up two identical workstations at the company I work for. They are both brand new HP computers running Windows 7 64 bit. I set up one computer fine and added it to our domain. I tried connected the second computer and I can add it to the domain but for some reason it says "No Internet Access". I can ping our server and anything else on the network, but any website I try won't come up.
Most of the related issues I've searched for were all viruses but since this is brand new and has never been online that is not the case...unless an HP tech decided to play a cruel joke of course!
Could it be the network card? I didn't think so since it connects locally but who knows. I also disabled and enabled, took our sonicwall down and tried to obtain settings automatically, nothing works!
