Recently i created a network with 2 XP machines and 1 windows 7, i can able to see XP PCs from windows 7, and windows 7 from XP pcs, even i can able to ping each other with host name and ip address, i can able to access files from XP to 7, but i can not access from windows 7 to XP.i tried everything but could not able to solve it
View 5 RepliesI have a new Windows 7 laptop that is replacing an older XP machine that has successfully operated for a number of years with internet connection sharing from an XP desktop host computer. I am unable to set up the new machine to access the internet. The SysInfo data for the new computer is:

The client has its IP address set automatically by the HOMENET wireless router, along with a manually set gateway address to route internet signals through the host computer rather through the router. I am new to Windows 7 and have not been able to set up the client to see or share files between the host and client when connected by wireless. When connected by a LAN connection to the router, I can see both computers and share files between them, but have not been able to connect to the internet. The Win 7 machine can connect directly to RESNET and access the internet that way but the incoming signal averages about 45% which is far below the level needed for acceptable use.
I am now unable to access the internet with my Dell 560 running windows7. I have Verizon Fios for internet access. Windows network diagnostics reports that the connection between my access point,router or cable modem and the internet is broken and the network gateway is accessible but windows could not receive network traffic from the internet. Verizon's in-house -agent reports that there seems a connection problem between my router and the wall jack. I am able to access the internet with another computer and the the same router. I also have no problems with my iPad. I have interchanged cables and ports on the router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm unable to access the web setup screen from 4 different windows machines running IE 9 or Firefox (various combinations of wireless, wired, etc.). When I get to the certificate error and hit the "yes, i understand, continue", it comes back with a 'can't be reached' page and looking into the details says the 'connection was dropped'. However If I connect from a MacBook / safari, I'm able to reach the page fine (and admin the router).
Using a wrt610n.I am connected to the router, the ip address hasn't changed, the password hasn't changed.I can use the router & connect to the internet.I have the router set to require HTTPS, but switching it to allow HTTP doesn't work. Both Wired & Wireless Win 7 / IE9 machines can't connect.Tried setting the router ip address to 'trusted' zone in IE. Tried setting the router ip address to the 'compatibility' mode in IE. Tried using latest version of Firefox with the same results.
I have an RV042 using Quick VPN to connect to a remote network. I have port 1723 forwarded to a static IP address on a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit PC. I can establish the VPN and ping a printer but not the Win 7 PC. I can not acccess any shares on the pc via the IP address. It has Norton Antivirus and Windows Firewall. This remote PC replaced a Windows xp PC that allowed access to the shares. I have tried access with a Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista Home Premium PC. Neither have worked.

The WinXP laptop has no problem pinging the Win7 system. A visiting friend changed the setting on the Win7 laptop and suddenly the two laptops were able to talk to each other. I wiped the WinXP laptop a few weeks ago. Since then, the Win7 laptop is again unable to ping the WinXP. I have googled for many hours now. I tried just about all the methods that make sense to me but still cannot ping from Win7 to WinXP. How I can reestablish communication between these 2 systems on the same network?

A few hours later the problem was resolved on its own and I suspect we have an IOS bug. This has happened a few times in the past and its becoming an issue. I tried to access the web configuration in my browser as I have in the past 192.168.1.245, but I have no luck there. I tried to reset it by holding the reset button for 10-30 seconds, and I have no luck with that. What I have noticed on the AP is that the ethernet light keeps going out. The only light that is lit on my AP is the power and sometimes the ethernet light. My AP is connected to my router which I am able to gain access to the internet from any devices connected to the router except the AP. I have a router (E2000), a WAP4400N, and switch. I want to keep my wireless access separate from my business network. I cannot get my WAP4400N to work anymore.

View 5 Replies View RelatedBasically my desktop computer no longer connects to the internet, and I'll try to describe the problem to you all to the best of my ability.I ran ipconfig /all and it is attached.The problem first started a few weeks back and I haven't been able to get around to it due to school. When trying to connect to my router it will connect with limited connectivity (in other words, at the bottom right of the screen when you check the SSID you're connected to, it will show the signal strength, but it also has a yellow exclamation mark indicating it has no connectivity. When I ran the built-in troubleshooter on it, I received multiple things:
- sometimes: "windows could not automatically detect this network proxy settings"
- sometimes: "no errors detected"
Of course I would've done a system restore long ago,however initially I thought the problem was the adapter so I kept re-installing the drivers, I even went to buy other network adapters to make sure my adapter wasn't the one that was defective (I have an ASUS adapter, the other adapters I've tried were D-Link, and Netgear which is also the brand of my router which is very old). Because of all these installs/uninstalls, the old system restores I had were gone. I have Windows 7 64 bit, I'm using wireless connectivity and cannot try ethernet cable due to the immobility of my desktop and problems it would generate around the house. I've attempted to change the IP address of my network properties of ivp4 to defaults, change the DNS server, check my DHCP, check my services, check my registry, and many other things found on the internet (including resetting with netsh)
So, my computer was having some serious issues, but the internet worked just fine. Me and a friend live in the same building and we're sharing a wireless connection and splitting the cost. I had to reformat my computer (it was windows XP SP3), but when I reinstalled windows it's SP2. I installed the wireless drivers and such, and those work great. However, I try to connect to the network 'Cay13' which is the one I'm sharing with my friend but it won't connect. It will just keep saying 'waiting for the network 'cay13' to connect to the network'. It won't come up with an error, it will just stop and refresh the wireless networks. I will then get a bubble that says 'Unable to connect to preferred wireless networks., Windows will keep trying.' etc... My friend's computer connects just fine so it doesn't seem like it's the router, and I've tried every which way from sunday to configure, connect, uninstall/reinstall the wireless drivers, etc.

ipconfig shows " windows up configuration"
And when search the dev managers, network addapters is not in the list.

As far as I can see the settings are all ok but I've noticed that I can't ping the PC from the mac although I can ping with success the other way around tried traceroute from the macbook and it gives me this so it is able to see it somehow...Code:traceroute to 192.168.1.66 (192.168.1.66), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets 1 alistair-pc.home (192.168.1.66) 1.724 ms * 1.151 msNot sure where to go from here. I think discovering that ping is failing is a good start to diagnose.

When I came back and turned my computer back on, it keeps giving me this message when I try to connect. It doesnt ask for a password, it simply tries to connect for a few seconds before giving up. After waiting a few hours for the problem to fix itself, one of my flatmates got home and told me they are having the same issue. I have tried restarting my computer, turning off my firewall and restarting the modem.

This, of course, included the update to IE10.Now, I cannot log into the router on my network via a Windows 8 system. It works fine if I use a Windows 7 laptop or an XP unit, but on Windows 8, when I go to the router's address, it prompts me for the Username and Password. It takes the password, and then immediately comes back and asks for it again. Another weirdness is that it won't exit when I choose cancel - only if I select the red X in the upper right corner of the authentication window.

The wireless icon on the bottom had either 1 bar, a caution sign with an exclamation point, or some sun icon. Either way, I could not get to my websites. I don't know why my computer cannot connect to the Internet because my iPad can connect perfectly well as I'm on it right now posting this thread. This is the first time it has happened. A few weeks ago my Internet started getting slower and slower. When it was usually an average of 3 bars, it went down to 2 and stayed that way. I was still able to get to my websites back then however the change in speed was noticeable. Now, it is neither 2 bars nor 3 but 0. y computer because my desktop is upstairs whereas my router is downstairs. With all the cables and such I would just end up messing it up or something. What could I do to fix this problem, it's been like this all day. Is it possible a virus is causing this problem?

When I returned and tried to access, it simply does not connect. I get an error saying "Windows was unable to connect to abcd (router name)". I tried to plug it into the router through ethernet and it works perfectly.I have tried to uninstall the wireless adapter and the lan adapter as well. I have tried it in safe mode.
