D-Link DIR-615 :: Accessing Shared Folders Over WAN-Port?

Jan 11, 2013

i have a question about accessing shared folders over the WAN-Port of an DIR-615. For your information: both sides of the network (LAN and WAN) are under my control.

On the WAN-side of the network we have a fileserver with shared files. We can ping the server and reach it and the Websites on this server are also reachable from the LAN-side. But if we try to access to the shared folders the request doesn't reach the server. If we change the router there are no more problems and anything works without problems. The Router has default-settings except the network-settings so it works in our network. Does this router block outgoing traffic on ports 135-139 and/or 445? And when yes is there any way to disable this? I can't find it.

Home Network :: Can See Network Share But Not Access Folders?

Aug 30, 2011

I have bought a new laptop and added it to my home network , two pc's and two laptops all running win 7. I share all drives on all machines. I know this is not very professional but it works for me.From the new laptop I can see all the network and see all the different drive folders but can only access the user folder on any PC from the new laptop. Also I can see the drives on the new laptop but only access the new laptops user folder from any other PC. I have checked this through a LAN cable and wireless with no difference. As the other PC's can see each other as normal I can only think there's a problem with the set up in the new laptop. I also note when I first try and access any other pc from the new laptop I am asked a domain name and password , I can put anything in these boxes and get to see the network but as I said above only access the user folders. I do have password access turned of.

Network Sharing - Connect To Desktop's Shared Folders

Jun 20, 2012

I am unable to connect to my desktop's shared folders, and get the message "network path not found" when attempting to go into the desktop. The desktop is connected to the router wirelessly, a pace 2wire gateway, and wirelessly on the laptop. I can see it in the list of devices connected to the gateway, as well as the network folder. I am unable to ping my desktop from the laptop, but i can do so the other way around (desktop can ping my laptop). This is despite turning off windows firewall on the desktop. This started happening right when i got the SP2 upgrade for the desktop, it's a vista system.

Linksys E2000 - Expanding Network Beyond Public Folders?

Dec 10, 2011

Have a network set up but it only works on the printer and public folders. Want the network to give me full access to all computers. Desktops and laptop run Win 7. Am familiar with computers. Was an electronics tech, NOT a computer tech, for 15 years and have upgraded / built several computers for family and friends for more than 10 years.

My guess is it would be a lot easier to put what I want to share in a public folder but there is only my wife and me. Guests log onto a "guest" account on the router and do not think they would have access to any folders, public or private, no matter how the network is set up on the main account but not sure.

Don't remember specs exactly but all computers are less than 2 years old. Built desktops with AMD dual core and 6 GB ram. Laptop has Intel Centrino dual core with 4 GB ram. Router is Cisco Linksys E2000. Can get more specific specs if needed. Desktops are wired, laptop is wireless.

Sharing :: Setting Up Individual Network Folders On Windows 7?

Mar 4, 2011

I have a small office (7) people and I don't have Active Directory setup. I'm wondering what is the best/easiest way to setup a place on a network server for the team to connect and put files that will then be backed up. With Active Directory this used to be a snap but I don't have much experience outside that realm. Here is how I'd like it to work:1) I login to server as admin, create the individual folders that users can map to. Example: Software Downloads, Jason, Robert, Billy, Carol2) I'd like to be able to set the security on the folders to say that everyone can view certain one but Jason can't view Roberts folder etc.

Open Network Folders With Different Username / Password Without Deleting Saved One

Mar 23, 2012

Sometimes I need to login to server shared folder with different username and password than saved one in "manage network password" or "windows credentials" (windows 7). At that time, I have to delete the previous one in "managed network password", then open the shared folder with new username, again save the old once once it is done.Is there anyway I can just open with different usernames without deleting the saved one? Different users have different privileges in server. Similarly, how to delete temporarily network cached passwords without restarting? I tried net user * /delete but it doesn't work?

Dual Nics For Accessing Network And Dedicated NAS?

I've never done anything with subnetting, but I was thinking I could just set the main nic to 192.168.10.20 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 and the other to 192.168.10.250 with a subnet of 255.255.255.240 and the nas nic set to 192.168.10.251

Am I thinking through this right, or is there a better way to do this?

D-Link DIR-655 :: Accessing The Router Via The Guest Network

Feb 1, 2011

Is there any way to access the router's configuration pages (192.168.0.1) via the Guest wireless network when routing between the zones is disabled?

Here's the story:

I am using my landlords wireless internet, but I administer the router myself. The router is 'upstairs' and i am 'downstairs' and he has his computer plugged into it plus one wireless laptop. He knows nothing about computers and is vulnerable to downloading viruses (and other ****) and I don't want my computers to be on the same 'network' as his.

I had a brilliant idea that since I am 100% wireless, I can make a guest network, put all my computers on that network and disable routing between them. Now all of my computers (some connected through a wireless bridge) can not see his computers at all (perfect!). The only problem now is I can no longer access the router config pages at 192.168.0.1!

Is there any way I can segregate my computers from his and also access the router config? I've tried  accessing the WAN IP for the remote admin pages from inside the NAT, but it still blocks it.

D-Link DIR-615 :: Number Of Wireless Devices Accessing Network

Jul 15, 2012

Just upgraded my system.  I am using D-Link 615 as access point hardwired LAN to LAN to ActiveTec MI424WR N capable Verizon Fios Wireless Modem/Router.  The Fios Router is set up with WPA2 security. Intend on having three 615s as Access Points off of ActiveTec.  Have a number of wireless devices accessing the network.  Have followed instructions from manual to use 615 as Access Point, disabling UPnP and the DNCP Server function on the 615.  My ActiveTec IP address is 192.168.1.1 and I changed the 615 to 192.168.1.50.  I can type this IP address in my browser and get to the 615 set-up.

I have tried a couple different options in naming the SSID on the 615 set-up.  If I name the SSID on the 615 the same as the ActiveTec router, when I go to Connect to a wireless signal where there is overlap, there are two signals that one can connect to, named the same SSID, the Fios is WPA2 secured and the 615 is not.  Shouldn't these all be on one SSID?  It seems that I have two different networks (different SSIDs) instead of one (rather than the 615 simply serving as an extension of the Fios router as a wired remote  access point) with different security protocols (WPA2 and None).  The SSID name almost seems meaningless.  If I name the 615 SSID the same as the Fios router SSID or something different, I still have the option of selecting one SSID that is secure and one that isn't.  If I try to connect to the SSID name associated with the 615 I can get on without providing a password. How do I make it so that one can walk around and go from one area to the next and seamlessly move to the best signal?  I did read to select different sets of channels for each access point.
