I have a Cisco 2811 router and when I turn of the router the running config is lost. I have to the following to get the router running of the start-up config settings.

Facing issue with 2960G switch , where its do not display "logging trap informational " in show running and show startup .where its showing all other levels from 0 to 5 and 7 after configuration and save commands. I have access to internet and everythig appears to be good, However asdm will never fully load, alway stuck at 17% or 77%, and I always see "parsing running config".
When I do a show run it will not fully load either, always stop at certain out put. 5 seconds after pulling the Comcast cable out both asdm and running config will load fine.
I am trying to create a bash script to log into routers and make config changes.I ran into a snag in that I am unable to pass a password for the ssh login.I tried tying an expect script to handle that piece but was unsuccessful.I saw on google something about public/private ssh keys (not the same type used to ssh into the box) but I do not want to go this route.Can this be done in another language other than a bash script?I would like to avoid TCL or EEM if possible, I want to learn a language that I can use for multiple purposes.
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy network generally runs older routers (2600 series) with 16 port switch modules (NM-ESW-16). This has always worked great since I can configure the router and the switch ports on the fly, making changes to either as necessary. Well I am upgrading to 2811 routers, and we wanted to get gigabit ethernet ports on our switch modules. I think I made an error when I purchased a few of these switch modules: NME-16ES-1G.
The first problem, is that the switch ports don't even show up on the router config, I have to establish a session into the switch, (And I can't seem to get back to the router unless I manually switch off power and restart). I don't like this type of switch module, it's like I'm running a completely separate device, and while having a layer 3 switch is cool, It doesn't let me setup routing protocols so I don't like doing it this way. I want to go back to using a switch module that simply adds a ton of ports to my router like the NM-ESW-16. (Note: The NM-ESW-16 does actually work in the 2811 and would be perfect if it were Gigabit speed.)
The seconds problem is that the NME-16ES-1G isn't actually a Gigabit switch. It has a single gigabit port, but the 16 ports are all Fastethernet, and not gigabitethernet. So ideally, I am looking for a switch module that I can fully configure from the router interface that has 16 gigabitethernet ports, and works with a 2811. IE I want to do this. [code]

I have a daily backup of start-up config and it was very different from that. I had to make many changes to bring it back to normal. What now I dont get is from where did the msfc2 got this config file? and how can I avoid this from happening again... I want it to load start-up config when it loads. [code]

The migration utility returns a config create fail message and fails to convert.

The new module already has the same IOs version as the standby supervisor.Once I have swapped the module how do I know that the config has sync'd correctly other than checking the logs? View 5 Replies View RelatedI have configured a vlan interface on a 3750 switch. there is aprox 4Mb active traffic flowing through the interface, but when I do a "show interface vlan (vlanid)" the output show zero bits in and zero bits out. Its a typical L3 config with one IP on the vllan interface acting as the gateway for the VLAN devices. Is this a normal behaviur ? and if so is there any way to get the traffic in/out stats. The end PC/devices are connected to this switch via an L2 TRUNK and I dont have access to the L2 switch on which the actual devices connect. so cant get the real time stats of those interfaces.

View 3 Replies View Relatedtrying to configure 2 cisco routers (3620 and 2501) Im using a RJ45 to DB9 cable and trying to see it in Tera Term. Nothing shows up in the terminal, and i cant even enter any imput. Ive tried hot-plugging into it, tried powering it up after making the connection, 3 different cables, 2 different computers (2 coms apiece-tried both) and every possible baud speed including the recommended 9600. (with no parity or flow control) the lights on the routers all come on and from what ive read they are not blinking out an error code. Ive also tried plugging the RJ45 into the AUX instead of CON and still, no cigar. BTW- running WinXP on Pentium4 2.53Ghz and 1G of RAM.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco ASA5520 that we are going to use to allow users to connect to our network via the Anyconnect client, I have authentication set up to validate against AD via LDAP, but was wondering if there were any way to set up the profile to check the PC before they log in....we do not want users using their home PCs to attach to our corporate network, only PCs that were issued to them by the company. Nothing is jumping out at me in the config, we are running some fairly old sofware on the boxes (ASA - v8.2(2), Anyconnect - v2.5.3046) I plan on upgrading the Anyconnect to v3.1 but will probably need to keep running the 8.2(2) version on the ASA due to support issues.
