I seem to have managed to set a 2960 to 230400 baud in the boot loader. Is there anyway to reset the variables in the boot loader? Maybe a set of pins to short? I can't access the console port reguardless of what I set the rate too. I've tried both the USB console cable and a USB to serial. Is there anything I can do short of an RMA?
View 4 Repliesit seems that i made a mistake when typing the BAUD rate of a 2960-Switch in rommon.I can't start the switch now, because there is no image on it (because I deleted it before) and the baud-rate has wrong settings. When connecting via console cable i can't see anything (except some strange hieroglyphics) when starting. I tried all the speeds in teraterm... without success.what can i do, to recover the switch back?

I had tried the following methods:
1) switch xxxxx (config)# line console
switch xxxxx (config-line)# autobaud
--------------------> my terminal hangs and print out rubbish
2) Using http Administrator ->Console setting ( i cannot find the link with console setting)

View 19 Replies View RelatedI've configured all my devices in the lab to use 115200 baud rate, so I can speed things up a little at the console. For whatever reason, I can't get my 3550 to save the 115500 baud rate. I power on the switch, hold the mode button, at the switch: prompt I type 'set BAUD 115200' followed by a reset. I power the cycle the switch once more, yet it still holds at 9600. I did the same process on my 3560's and it worked like a charm.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHaving trouble resetting the baud rate to 9600 on a 3750-E. Basically the device cannot be set to anything other than 115200 baud rate. I have changed this via startup-config (which lost connection) reconnected and saved config but after reload was back to 115200. Tried via bootloader to 'set 9600' but the termial program paused for a bit then the switch prompt returned. Tried the same to 'unset baud' but the same thing as above happened. I have erased and reloaded flash etc

getting CNA recognize these access points?
I have CNA 5.5 and have upgraded our 4506 with sup. v4 to cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.150-2.SG.bin (latest version). CNA shows the 4506 as an usupported device.

I have followed instructions: go back to switch: set BAUD 9600 then reset. also tried the unset command. problem is it always comes back up with a BAUD of 115200. CWill I have to label 1 switch as 115200?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 2811 with 512 of memory installed (two by 256). The router has been sitting spare for sometime and I know there was once a memory problem with it long ago. It has two 256M Non ECC DIMMs installed and seems to work fine. I recently tried to install a 512M DIMM ECC and all I get is 'Unsupported DIMM" error - same if I remove the other 256M DIMM leaving just the 512M. I have tried three different DIMMs - and all have the same error message. One of the DIMMs is 'cisco supported' and based on what I can find in the web - seems to be the correct spec. I have also tried non ECC 512 DIMM and 'unsupported DIMM" error message is still coming up. If I did not know better, I would say that there was something that needed changing in the config to allow 512M DIMMs to be installed.

I haven't done it before and was trying to change the baud rate to 115200 for installing an IOS on the etherswitch module which had been deleted. I ended up "unsetting" the baud rate on the etherswitch and rebooted. Now, when I try to session into the etherswitch, its opens the connection but I can no longer see any text on the screen. Im using Teraterm. I've tried different baud rate settings for my serial port in TeraTerm but still cant see any text on the screen. I dont know of any commands from the router prompt. Any suggestions to fix this? If can start seeing the text, then I can probably configure and set up the etherswitch module.

But the emails in questions are just a few kB. So what is going wrong. This is especially disturbing because the users don't get a notification that the email has not been delivered.
Receiving syslog message :%SIP-3-UNSUPPORTED: Unsupported ptime value. But we have no SIP-related commands in our config. We reloaded router Friday eve 1/15 but two more %SIP-3-UNSUPPORTED: Unsupported ptime value messages re-appeared on 1/18. The router in question is a 3745 running c3745-a3jk9s-mz.123-14.t7.bin. This router does have one interface facing an ISP.

In running the Cisco Network Assistant (Version 5.6(3)) they show up as an unsupported device. The documentation for this product indicates that you can use CNA to configure this switch. I tried to force to 1000Mbps but it failed to get an IP. I did a google and found that may be the router doesn't do well with Intel card, but I use another onboard lan card with Nivida chip+AMD CPU, it's still only have 100Mbps. I installed the Cisco LMS 4.0.1 (test mode), and monitoring services of the switches (data collection and information system) are working.
But when I need to apply some configuration via CiscoView settings are not applied.
The following message is displayed when I try to apply some configuration on an interface of any one switch.
"Message Timeout on 172.20.1.10. This error could be due to lack of access to the host, invalid SNMP credentials, or a busy device. To correct the problem, do one of the following:
- Verify access to the host.
- Check the SNMP credentials.
- Increase the timeout value through the preference options on the chassis view."
I've checked the credentials and SNMP communities, the problem continues.
I am using lms 3.2.where I have added devices manually.Because discovery settings the device are taking some random ip updating the display and hostname.
I want to disable the full discovery settings..
