We are running IOS12.4(5a) on a 2821 and have "ip inspect esmtp" enabled. We noticed that every day several emails end up in the postmaster account with the following message:
"A mail message was not sent due to a protocol error.
500 Firewall Error
The message that caused this notification was:"
But the emails in questions are just a few kB. So what is going wrong. This is especially disturbing because the users don't get a notification that the email has not been delivered.
We have 6 brnaches configured with NAC Module in Cisco 2821 ISR router. The WAN link being used to connect all the branch to the HQ CAM is via WIMEX wireless Broadband. The bandwidth is 2MB.OOBVG is the mode used. All branches were working well last 1 year. Last month it is suddently disconnected from the CAM.I opened the TAC. Cisco history of TAC experience, We have total 6 TAC enginners tried one by one still the problem not resolved. The following are the findings
1. Timing is accurate between CAS-CAM 2. Shared secret key correct 3. SSL temp certificate ok also image being used it 4.6.1. 4.Tcpdump from both CAM and shows some initial packet drops of 10 sec with the below CAM log
I believe that NAC is not a matured products and the problem like this even by Cisco TAC can not solve.

I am having a problem about the caller time out.#dialer idle-timeout 180 either..So the ISDN call will be disconnect after 180 sec.However even there is traffic on the ISDN line, it will disconnect after 180 sec.For example I PING -t command to the destination IP address, it will start dialing out after I run the PING command from srouce PC, but it will disconnect after 180 sec even continue to PING.I checked the remaining time by the command #show caller timeouts.It won't reset the remaining Timer parameter. my college using WisM (WS-SVC-WISM-1-K9) as wireless controller , Cisco 1130 access point and Cisco Secure ACS 4.X Solution Engine 1113 Appliance as radius server. For username and password, we take it from existing Oracle database.
The problem is the password that store in oracle database is in encrypted format. Base from feedback from database administrator, the encrpytion is done by oracle - application layer and cannot be decrypt back.
To tackle this problem, we decide to use external script in php to verify the username & password...The php script will check directly from oracle database. If the username & password match, it will sent a boolean true (1) to the Wism controller and if the username & password not match, the script will send boolean false(0) to the Wism controller.
My question is, can WiSM module talk to php script? Can it receive boolean parameter from php script?
I am trying to use a Dell FTRJ8519P1BNL SFP fiber module in a Cisco Catalyst 3560 and have already run these commands: no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid service unsupported-transceiver.But I STILL am getting these errors even after shut/no shut on the port.

I intend to connect a network built around the WRT54GS to Internet by passing through a second network who is already connected to Internet through the Orange Livebox-2 (French).I have a traditional home network with basic shares on the French Orange Livebox-2 and its WiFi.The computers runs XP - Pro .My ADSL access is normally through the Livebox-2 (Range of addresses 192.168.1.xxx) and I run DHCP Working Group "WORKGROUP".It works without problem (Internet and VoIP telephony) except the Wifi of the Livebox which is known as poor (range and stability).I also manages a small "pedagogical workshop" for the school who visit my mill.This network is available to my young visitors based on a (tower) server containing the libraries and teaching materials and its printer. It’s XP - Pro machine. and to allow a maximum of two laptops be WiFi connected.The second network is built around the Linksys router (wich integrates no modem, simply a router).The WRT54GS router (rev 6) whose firmware is original Linksys up to date.I am setting the two Wi-Fi (Livebox 6 Cnl) and Cnl 4 on WRT54GS and different keys (this is manageable without difficulty).It has its server DHCP and Wi-Fi to connect their machine.What about the name of this second network group ? Currently “WORKGROUP” as well.I am setting a range different on the router WRT54GS (192.168.2.xxx) and enabled the DHCP.This "educational" network works perfectly when alone and separated from the "home" network and doesn’t get connected to Internet…I want to connect this router Linksys WRT54GS rev6 cascading through the Livebox-2. Share Internet via the Livebox-2 access.What about functionality?What is the connection to setup ?Should it be simple physical connection with a cable between the yellow ethernet port "2" of the Liveboxbox and the "Internet" connector of the Linksys router? I am looking to uplink an HP Blade Chassis to a Cisco 3750-X with SFP+ for 10Gig on each end.I would like to use Direct Attached SFP+ cables if possible.I already know that the HP Virtual Connect module will not accept a Cisco Direct Attached cable at the current firmware.Cisco Nexus 5000 has a feature allowing connectivity with the HP Direct Attached cable using "unsupported" mode.
I seem to have managed to set a 2960 to 230400 baud in the boot loader. Is there anyway to reset the variables in the boot loader? Maybe a set of pins to short? I can't access the console port reguardless of what I set the rate too. I've tried both the USB console cable and a USB to serial. Is there anything I can do short of an RMA?
I have a 2811 with 512 of memory installed (two by 256). The router has been sitting spare for sometime and I know there was once a memory problem with it long ago. It has two 256M Non ECC DIMMs installed and seems to work fine. I recently tried to install a 512M DIMM ECC and all I get is 'Unsupported DIMM" error - same if I remove the other 256M DIMM leaving just the 512M. I have tried three different DIMMs - and all have the same error message. One of the DIMMs is 'cisco supported' and based on what I can find in the web - seems to be the correct spec. I have also tried non ECC 512 DIMM and 'unsupported DIMM" error message is still coming up. If I did not know better, I would say that there was something that needed changing in the config to allow 512M DIMMs to be installed.
I am designing a network for my client where I have to implement a 10 Gig end to end connectivity. The major factor of concern from my management is about scalability (space to include more 10Gig servers as the nodes grow up). I have suggested Cisco 5596UP with 2232 PP as this gives ample amount of 10Gig ports. The setup has to be implemented across 2 different datacenters located 40 Kms apart, connected with 10Gig DC Interconnect.
I understand that Cisco Nexus 2232 is a Layer 2 Only switch and would need to communicate with parent 5K switch very frequently. Is it necessary to have the 2K and 5K pair in the same datacenter or in proximity? Is it possible to have the SFP uplinks connected to the DC interconnect? Because we have two datacenters located 40 Kms apart and having 1*Layer 3 - 5K switch at DC A with Layer 2 - 2K nexus Switch at DC B will be cost effective. We do require more 10Gig ports and not much requirement on Layer 3 usage. What are the type of communication that would be much frequent between 2K and 5K?
Receiving syslog message :%SIP-3-UNSUPPORTED: Unsupported ptime value. But we have no SIP-related commands in our config. We reloaded router Friday eve 1/15 but two more %SIP-3-UNSUPPORTED: Unsupported ptime value messages re-appeared on 1/18. The router in question is a 3745 running c3745-a3jk9s-mz.123-14.t7.bin. This router does have one interface facing an ISP.

I recently ordered and received Cisco Catalyst 3560-CG Series 8-port PoE switches (ws-C3560CG-8PC-S). In running the Cisco Network Assistant (Version 5.6(3)) they show up as an unsupported device. The documentation for this product indicates that you can use CNA to configure this switch. Is there a download or patch available to correct this problem?

I'm currently using onboard lan card of P6X58D Premium. However in the Cisco web setup page or even in my Windows 7, it shows only 100Mbps connection. I tried to force to 1000Mbps but it failed to get an IP. I did a google and found that may be the router doesn't do well with Intel card, but I use another onboard lan card with Nivida chip+AMD CPU, it's still only have 100Mbps. What can I do to have a 1000Mbps connection?
I'm using a router 877 at home and i really need to check out what this router do during the day. So some time ago i configured it using some eem actions and sending to me email, without any problems. Yesterday I changed my internet provider and now i need to use smtp autheticantion to send emails.
I read about how to authenticate, like username:password@host and also made a fast search here, without solve my problem. I need to put as username the email of the provider like: mouse@host.com:mypassword@smtpserveraddress.com. So, i want to know if someone had the same problem and solved it. Of course i couldn't use @ two times or eem would think that host.com is my smtp server! And right now is going in this way!
We have installed the Cisco Prime LMS 4.1 in our production environment. We have configured SMTP settings, but unable to find where we can configure username and password for SMTP authentication. It's only giving a option to enter email address without any authentication parameters.
I just installed LMS 4.0 on OS Window 2008 R2. Right now, I know how to add devices in DCR and set SMTP server. My question is
1. I want LMS to send an alert email when Coreswitch is down how to do that ? 2. I want LMS to send an alert email when interface is down (not all interface but specify one) how to do that ? 3. I want to created a custom portlet that monitor only one device and specify interface on it how to do that ?
I'm trying to change the IP address of the smtp server on cisco LMS 3.2.1;I have changed the IP on the GUi and when it didn't work, in the regdaemon. xml file, but it did not work too;When I capture packets from the LMS, it still sends emails to the old IP;
This is my first post in CSC. I have two issues with ASA 5505. I have configured ASA to use Easy vpn (ASA as RA server). Users are able to connect to vpn with out any issue and there is no diconnections with VPN. But when the users are trying to RDP to server it connects and disconnect as soon as login. some time it connect for 2 mins then it fades out for some time then it reconnects again. I guess I have give correct access-lists. Please find the Running configuration in the below.
2). we have a Email server in DMZ zone and it users are able to connect to the email server and they can see the emails. But when they try to send any emails it just stuck in the email server queue and does not deliver to the destination.

Is it possibe to change SMTP port from 25 to any other in LMS..? Bcoz in scenario where we keep SMTP server to flow on some different port rather default port 25. So our LMS also should communicate in the new specified port to send DFM Alerts.
I'm trying to connect to an SMTP server using telnet via putty. Not just well known domains such as bigstring, aol, gmail, hotmail etc but also endless amount of not known or not popular ones.The problem is that although nmap says that port 25 is open, I can not establish any connection to ANY SMTP server (it just timeouts).I have tried disabling my firewall and using a proxy, but it still doesn't connect and now I've ran out of ideas. I also tried to disable my avast as well as legally used ip switcher program to make sure the problem is totally independent from my ISP.
I have installed some 3rd party software for email messaging and it requires SMTP details. I hardly even know what SMTP is. Via google I found one it has something to do with server for sending email messages but I don't want to use SMTP of my ISP which is (referring to smtp and not isp) the one that is being used in microsoft outlook program. But the 3rd party software is different one. It requires FIVE (5) datas and I have no idea how do I find them out:

I have been searching for some smtp details what to type with the following requirements:
- smtp must be free to have and use details - working one - as fast as possible - no particular limits
The program also offers to set up ''in-build'' smtp server. If I choose this it works but the message cannot be sent for unknown reason. I don't have firewall and I double checked nothing is wrong with avast antivirus. So I will have to get the smtp details with mentoined four requirements. Don't even know where to search. I found some freeware smtp (or virtual smtp) applications but I need 5 datas to type in and not an application. No idea where to get them. I tried gmal [URL] but its not working, been trying also different ports.
I have an ASA 5500 Firewall. I need to figure out how to log all events using Port 25 to determine if there are any rogue devices on our network. I was trying to figure out how to do this via the Real-Time Monitoring (filter) but have had no success.
