View 3 RepliesI have a cisco1841 router with 32M CF card installed.Now , i want boot a system image larger 32M from usbdisk.First i insert the 128M usb flash disk to the 1841 router and format it, then i can see the device from dir command.Second copy the larger ios image from tftp to the usb disk and successed,i can see the image with " dir usbflash0:" command.Third i use this command "boot system " ,but there is no selection of "usbflash0: " Does the cisco 1841 router boot the system image from usb disk when reboot the router.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently obtained a 2851 and have been battling this issue for a week now. An odd set of circumstances happen with the bootstrap startup process. If the router has loss of power or when reloaded; it fails to read the CF card and boots to rommon. I can tftp an image to it (tftpdnld -r) and IOS CAN read the flash card along with any saved configuration.In fact once in IOS, I can wr mem and print the hardware details of the CF card. Once I reload the router it goes to rommon, fails to open the flash, then sits until i tftp the image back. When the router load IOS, it also loads the startup config.I don't think it's a problem with the CF card as IOS can read it. I've tried formatting the card from IOS and from my pc as FAT, FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS - it didn't make a different. I updated the ROMMON to allow for USB booting but haven't purchased a USB Drive yet for testing. The upgrade didn't resolve this issue either. It almost seems like a firmware problem with the EPROM.

Once i fired it all up i got this error %C6KPWR-SP-4-UNSUPPORTED: unsupported module in slot 2, power not allowed: Unknown Card Type. the System image file is "bootdisk:s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.SXE6a.bin".
I have a 6509 up and running the same mods and working fine BUT the System image file is sup-bootdisk:s72033-ipservicesk9-mz.122-18.SXF7.bin. Is the boot image what is causing my isses?

I have a Cisco switch 3400-ME, it's running IOS1.bin file. Now i want to change the running IOS to IOS0.bin.I entered 2 commands:
boot system flash:dir1/IOS0.bin
boot system flash:dir1/IOS1.bin
But when i show running config, it has no any boot system commands. when i relboot that switch?
How do I upgrade the boot rom version on the 7200 router? I am running IOS Version 12.4(22)T and when I plug in the serial ds3 card in my router it keeps rebooting with a watch dog error ( see below). Also, what version should I upgrade to?

I have been experiencing a strange problem i have a switch stack of 3750 in which 4 switches are cascaded. there is one one switch shows PROVISIONED status when I run "show switch". i have verified the stack cable connectivity its OK.
now when i try to console that particular switch i am unable to access it as well. I tried to reboot that switch and on reboot it only shows one LED syst blink once and after that remains constant and nothing happens to other LEDS. from the back of the switch FAN is working fine.

Whenever I want to turn off the ip cache flow and enter command "no ip flow egress" on a router interface, the router will self reboot and returned with the error message - System returned to ROM by bus error at PC message in the show version ouput.
I tried on two different routers below here and both also undergoing a cold restart when I key in the command "no ip flow egress" on the said interface

View 1 Replies View Relatedi recently deployed cat4507e switch along with 3 nos of WS-X4748-RJ45V+E - 48 port gigabit PoE modules. I am using polycom IP560 phones.
I am facing issue of some switch ports (randomly) stops supplying power to phone at random time. So far there are about 4 incident and i have been plugging those connection to different - usused ports. I am planning to RESET the switch module during weekend and i think it might fix issues with those ports.
But what would be quick and easy way to fix this issue when the issue is faced? How/what to check on switch port interface wrt to power? If switch module is falling short of overall power requirement, is there a way to boost the power?
I have a problem with x4648-rj45V+E module, which is not forwarding frames/packets in my 4507E switch. I have done the diagnostic and the module test is passed. When i try to ping from one PC to another in the flat network, icmp is not forwarding. Even i cannot see the mac addresses in the mac address-table. But i can ping to my management port in the sup module?

I can't access the console port reguardless of what I set the rate too. I've tried both the USB console cable and a USB to serial. Is there anything I can do short of an RMA?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 2811 with 512 of memory installed (two by 256). The router has been sitting spare for sometime and I know there was once a memory problem with it long ago. It has two 256M Non ECC DIMMs installed and seems to work fine. I recently tried to install a 512M DIMM ECC and all I get is 'Unsupported DIMM" error - same if I remove the other 256M DIMM leaving just the 512M. I have tried three different DIMMs - and all have the same error message. One of the DIMMs is 'cisco supported' and based on what I can find in the web - seems to be the correct spec. I have also tried non ECC 512 DIMM and 'unsupported DIMM" error message is still coming up. If I did not know better, I would say that there was something that needed changing in the config to allow 512M DIMMs to be installed.

But the emails in questions are just a few kB. So what is going wrong. This is especially disturbing because the users don't get a notification that the email has not been delivered.
Receiving syslog message :%SIP-3-UNSUPPORTED: Unsupported ptime value. But we have no SIP-related commands in our config. We reloaded router Friday eve 1/15 but two more %SIP-3-UNSUPPORTED: Unsupported ptime value messages re-appeared on 1/18. The router in question is a 3745 running c3745-a3jk9s-mz.123-14.t7.bin. This router does have one interface facing an ISP.

In running the Cisco Network Assistant (Version 5.6(3)) they show up as an unsupported device. The documentation for this product indicates that you can use CNA to configure this switch. Is there a download or patch available to correct this problem?
