For some port fowarding reasons I have to change my router setting to these:Maximum Ports: 4096TCP Timeout (in seconds): 600UCP Timeout (in seconds): 120I am using a Realtek router ( Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet <NDIS 6.20>)This is supposed to be EXTREMELY easy but I lack any general computer knowledge whatsoever. In laymen's term, I am N00B.

I cannot open router settings... I had recently opened some ports on my router. However today I tried to access the settings and all it does is a web search for the gateway (192.168.1.254). The internet is working. I reset the router and it did not work. I cannot do a hard reset because I will lose all my settings for my company's settings. Also the router is a Netopia modem/router

After our ISP had a network outage, our Belkin N150 stopped working properly & now I can't get to the Settings page to fix anything. I have used the Reset feature to no avail. The blue light is on but the "Fixit" feature only comes up with something about the ASDL line.

Using a RV082 (firmware 2.0.0.19-tm) connected to two different ISPs. LAN IP IS 192.168.1.1. Everything seems to be working OK if I leave the DNS settings for WAN1 and WAN2 set to public DNS servers. If I set each WAN connection to the respective ISP’s DNS settings then I get timeouts when using NS look up. My ISP only accept DNS request from routers on their own network.
Assumption:
I thought that if each WAN is pointing to it’s own DNS server, I should be able to get a reply when I do a NS look up with the server set to this router (192.168.1.1.)
Real life:
The fact is I get a Timeout every time I test a domain name look up.
With the exact same configuration, setting both WANs to public DNS servers, everything works fine
The only reasons for wanting the DNS settings not set to a public DNS server are two. My Spam solution has issues with using a public DNS server was hoping I could increase the speed of DNS look ups using a closer DNS server. My objective is to point the internal DNS server on the SBS 2003 to the RV082 and have the router forward the request as needed to the proper ISPs dns server.
Is my assumption above correct? If I have each WAN configured to it’s own DNS settings I should be able to point to the router for DNS look ups and if the record in not in cache this router will forward it to one of the two WAN’s using that WAN's correct DNS settings?

Is there a way to avoid network interruptions when resetting the F5D8235-4 v3 router? I was hoping to find a config file or some other way to avoid having to reset the home network and devices. The administrator password has been lost, so i would like to reset that only and not restore factory settings.

I have an RV180W router and I am trying to use the Windows 2011 SBS. It seems like I setup everything properly in order to use the remote access, but when I try to log on from home, I don't have any luck. According to Window's instructions, here's what I have setup on the router side:, I turned on UPnP. (they say to either do port forwarding, or UPnP, but I found on the Windows SBS that I had to do both in order for it to say it was working).

I just purchased and installed the RV180 at my office. One of my clients requires that I use Cisco VPN Client to connect to their systems. Before I installed the RV180, everything worked just fine. After I installed the RV180, the VPN client disconnects after 5 to 15 minutes, every time.
What firewall settings on the RV180 do I need to enable/disable so that the VPN Client can work w/o disconnecting?
The RV180 is the router at my office. The VPN Client is on my computer, and I'm connecting to a client's system w/the VPN Client.

I have 2 WRVS4400N routers that were installed at 2 remote locations to provide VPN access to these sites. The routers have been found reset to the factory defaults on three occasions, twice on one of them and once on the other. Both sites are unmanned so no-one is on site to have pressed the reset button, and both routers were set to have remote management disabled. They are running v2013 firmware.

We have recently purchased an RV082 router for our company. I have successfully managed to establish a VPN connection through PPTP and through Quick VPN (IPSEC?)
When i am connected through PPTP my software SIP client has 0.5% packet loss which is totally acceptable. When i am connected through Quick VPN my software SIP client has a 50-70% packet loss.
i have done the following settings on the router: Bandwidth Management:
High Priority for upstream and downstream UDP 10001-20000 and UDP 5060-5080
Wan Connection settings: MTU: 1492 bytes
I would like to know if there are any other settings that will improve VOIP over Quick VPN since RV082 supports 100 connections compared to 5 for PPTP.

I have an RV042 which is being used as an interface to an ISP.The WAN address (public) is obtained via PPPoE.The LAN address (also public) is entered manually from an assigned block of public addresses. This is the internet gateway for other publicly-addresses devices like firewalls, VPN devices, etc.
I have an RV042 to play with as will as one in production that I can access.Because the accesses are both through public addresses, I want to use https to access the device. I've generated a number of questions as I'm not sure the behavior is understandable to me and maybe the behavior isn't even consistent.
- If the firewall is Disabled, the https setting is still available. So, presumably https will work with the firewall enabled or disabled? Is that right?
- I take it that the Remote Management setting and port number are associated with the WAN port. For example, can one set Remote Management ON with port 443 and still access via the LAN on port 80? on port 443?
- If Remote Mangement is OFF then I presume that one cannot access the device through the WAN. Yet, that seems to not be the case. I wonder if the public addresses on this device affect this?
Well, I guess we might forget about the Port number and just ponder the following - Sort of a truth table:
Remote OFF
http...........WAN access: NO LAN access: YES
https..........WAN access: NO LAN access: YES
Remote ON
http...........WAN access: YES LAN access: YES
https..........WAN access: YES LAN access: YES
This is what it would seem to me to be but it doesn't seem to work that way.

I have two servers behind the RV180 and a list of ports I would like to open to the public (80, 443, 21, 3389).In that case, I have to setup 8 Access Rules. I am OK in the first time setting up.But later on, if I would like to change the external IP <-> internal IP mapping, I have to change the Access Rules one by one for all related ports.
Does it has a setting for grouping the ports together so that I can set the Access Rules by one time only ?BTW, the summary view of the Access Rules in RV180 is not very clear, I can't differentiate the Rules for different Destination NATs ... I have to click into the details one by one ...

I had an WRVS4400 (but didn't use the wireless), it it died. I'm replacing with an RVS4000. I have all the settings from the prior router, but my question has to do with the DSL modem in use in conjunction with the router, because (in my absence) my wife had a conversation with SBC, trying to use the hook to the modem directly and ended up altering settings on the modem that may affect the RVS4000 when I go to install it upon its receipt from Amazon tomorrow.
We have a business that uses a third party software vendor's website; their servers access our data on our server behind the router. So we use a static IP address, and port forwarding. No problem there. But I could have sworn that, with the WRVS4400 we used to have the modem configured as bridged; as of this morning, the modem shows PPPoE, and my wife can't recall what SBC had her do in that regard!
So, for the situation I've described, should I put the modem into bridge mode (and porting it into the RVS4000). Like I said, we have a static WAN IP address, and a range of more static IP addresses.

Am running firmware ver 1.00.19. Set up DDNS with DynDns.Org and all is well. Set up virtual server with DDNS info. Trying to connect to an IPcam (Foscam 8905W). IPcam is set up with static IP with ip outside Belkins DHCP range.
Problem: When trying to access the IPcam through the internet (DynDns) Belkin takes me right to the Belkin router Setup screen, not to the virtual server settings (IPcam). I was able to do it a couple of months ago,but not now. I may have upgraded my firmware in that time from 1.00.12.

I had something strange happen to my WRVS440N router yesterday. Our network had crashed for some reason. So I attempted to log into the device to see what was wrong and I was surprised to discover that all of the settings including user name and password had reverted back to factory default.
1. What are all of the possible scenarios that would cause this to happen?
2.Would disconnecting power in the middle of a boot up sequence cause the router to revert to factory settings?

I picked up this RV180 router because it has one of the fastest thru speeds of all the routers tested that I viewed on smallnetbuilder. That and it has the cisco name. I grew tired of purchasing wireless home routers every year after they fail. So far the thing is nice with one exception.
I have one device that is essential on my network called an airave. It is a small device similar to a wireless access point that works on springs voice network. The thing essentially makes a small cell tower inside your house and connects to the sprint network through an Ipsec vpn. I have not ability to change ipsec settings on the device on my end. The device works fine connected to the cable modem or to the old slow dlink. When I first connect the thing it works fine for about 5-10 minutes on the cisco. Then the thing loses connection and I lose my cell phone service. Just to test any port conflicts I made this the the DMZ with no luck.
I have also tried a firmware upgrade. I have not messed with any of the firewall settings or port forwarding since DMZ should in theory fix that. I have assigned the thing a fixed IP address but that does not seem to make a difference. It did not on my old router and is mostly just for my sanity and to facilitate the DMZ.

I don't speak cisco, so I'm using the built in interface to configure it.If i choose IPoA I can enter the IP settings. If I choose PPPoA I can enter the username and password.I do not see anyway I can enter both the IP settings and the username + password on the WAN configuration page.
