Cisco :: Maximum Nodes For 1524SB LWAPP AP?
Mar 21, 2012Someone has mentioned only 25 nodes are supported by the 1524SB and that one AP gets bogged down by 20 nodes or more.

Cisco Wireless :: 1524SB Mesh Channel Selection?
Jun 3, 2013We have a deployment with six 1524SB mesh APs. Two are used as RAPs and face east and west respectively with directional antennas and two MAPs on each side with omni antennas. The RAPs are within 20 feet of each other. I set the bridge group name as east or west depending on which side of the mesh the equipment is located but noticed the downlink channel is set to 56 on both RAPs. I don't remember setting the channel for the RAPs, but they aren't using the global DCA.Would best practice be to change the downlink to unique channels on the RAPs, enable DCA (if it will let me), or is a unique bridge group name sufficient enough?

Jun 30, 2011We have a root AP whose status light is showing solid red. We power cycled it and it still shows solid red. According to the Cisco documentation, this indicates a firmware failure. Unfortunately, we did not get Smartnet with this access points and instead opted for the limited lifetime warranty.
My question is: is there any way to fix the firmware via console? Whether it be through xmodem or what not. I ran debugs on the controller and can confirm that the AP is not communcating with the controller.
It is also weird that the mesh APs that were previously connected to this root AP show a solid red on their status lights and green for their RF LEDs. Shouldn't the status LED be flashing green-amber-red?
Distance Between Two Wireless Mobile Nodes?
Oct 13, 2012I am currently trying to find the method or mechanism for calculating the distance between two wireless mobile nodes.Let's say, there are 2 nodes (node B and C) coming in communication with node A. How can node A knows whether node B or node C is nearer than the other? Is it possible to find it out by using RSSI? or are there any other mechanisms to calculate the distance?

Aug 30, 2011I have two netgear powerline AV 500 ethernet adapters that give me near ideal internet access on my media computer (FIOS 25/25mpbs tests out at 8ms 25.4/24.7) and perhaps 100-140mbps to my router, printer, drive, etc. I now want to add a few wifi points and instead of having the mess of a powerline adapter + a wifi router I think it will be neater to have an all in one solution. Most of the ones that I find are 200mbps, however. I know that 500 is backwards compatible, but will a mixed solution slow everything down like it can for a mixed wireless g/n network?

Mar 19, 2011All 3 previous wireless routers I've had were all LinkSys routers and I had to overcome a learning curve since configuring this DIR-655 is slightly different..What I want to do is allow only the WiFi MAC addresses that I choose to access the network. It seems to me that in order to accomplish this I have to include all of my wired LAN devices' MAC filters as well. I can see having MAC filtering for WiFi devices, however why do I need to add my wired LAN devices MAC addresses? I'm not going to allow just anyone to walk into my home off the street and plug a computer into the network via CAT-5 ethernet cable, so isn't there a way to accomplish just the WiFi allow list and the heck with the wired nodes? The LinkSys routers I used in the past allowed me to allow the MAC filter for WiFi devices only. Is there a way around having to allow all MAC's and just allowing the wifi's?

Jan 11, 2011Just replaced my older Cisco router with an E2000 and now none of the connected PCs can ping each other. I have two wired and two wireless nodes on the 192.168.1.X subnet (defaults) using DHCP. All nodes can access the Internet with no problems, but none of them can see each other -- no ping, no Network Neighborhood, nothing. Since this all worked fine before I swapped routers and I've made no changes on any of the nodes, I presume this is something about the router.
I've tried all the usual troubleshooting steps (spent 10 years working as Systems Engineering in IP networking) - no luck. I've also tried various settings of the router (e.g. turned off SPI) but no luck either.
my new router doesn't block connections between attached PCs on the same subnet ....
P.S. One strange observation : using Wireshark I can see the pinging node (.137) ARP for the destination IP (.102), and the ARP reply is sent by the destination node (.102) , but it looks like the Echo Request never makes it to the target machine -- i.e. I think the router is blocking it.

I read that I need to Reload original IOS software, but It appears I cant get it without a support contract. I cant afford servicenet and need to obtain old ios to revert to factory default 12.4(10b)JA1. Do I need a contract to roll back? Is there an archive (backup image) of the old IOS that could be still stored on the device. I didnt back it up and need to obtain the image.

clients ---> 819 ---->AP (WGB) ------ lwapp ----- AP ---> LAN ---> servers.
since the clients are on the same subnet as the the VLAN on the lwapp, everything works great.When we add a new L3 VLAN on the 819 router, and we try to ping the clients from the servers, the packets can reach the clients but never received by the servers back. it seems like the bridge is dropping the packets when they go back from the client to the servers.when we use a GRE tunnel from the 819 to the LAN, everything works great.
